The best there was, until the past year or so - now they don't answer the phone, don't follow up and I wonder why they're bothering. Salaries I guess. Shocking and disappointing.

I've had nothing but amazing service from this surgery since moving to the area. I think I've had dealings with every one of the GPs at some point, and I have to say they have a fantastic approach to mental health and wellbeing as well as the physical wellbeing and any issues I have had. I have never had such a friendly service which has kept my mind at ease during tough and unexpected times. Most recently I would like to personally thank Dr Irvine, and nurses Wendy and Kerry for being so caring and above and beyond the realms of professionalism towards me during a difficult time. If I could remember the names of all the GPs I would like to personally thank and name each and every one for their understanding and caring demeanor. I spent most of my adult life scared of going to the doctor if something was a little wrong as I've not had the nicest dealings in the past, but I would recommend this surgery to anybody as the team truly are wonderful. Thank you all.

Terrible service... Called for a sick note. l was told it would take three days to get to me. Five days after I was supposed to receive the note I called again, nobody knew anything about the note or the call. I Was then told I hadn't called and they can't do anything about it. I would now have to wait another couple of days, then go and collect from the practice as they are not sending them out by post "as it may cause delays". I must add the Doctors here do a fantastic job every time. Always professional, helpful and very welcoming.

I've just moved to this surgery from another and I've had great service. I've only spoken to one GP and a couple of the receptionists and they're so much nicer than my previous town centre surgery and they've already picked up something that my previous GP missed. I can see that this surgery, like many has the usual flurry of 1 star reviews simply because that person couldn't get an appointment on one or two occasions but isn't that all NHS surgeries? We're in the middle of a pandemic FFS. I suspect most people would get a little bit further if they were a bit nicer to the overworked staff.

If I could give this surgery zero stars I would. APPALLING service and NO apathy. I've been poorly for over 3 weeks NOT co-vid 19. But been dismissed every single time I call. Ended up having to call 111 who did a way better job. Looking to register elsewhere

Appalling. Has always been a nightmare to get an appointment but has become almost impossible in the last year. You have to get blood test results from receptionists. One told me I had a high reading of a certain marker, I asked what that meant for my health and she responded - "I don't know I'm not medically qualified!" Precisely! Now I'm worried by a high marker and can't book at appointment with a doctor because they are running with two GPS at the moment. Why? This entire section of Maidenhead running with just two GPs. Yet those same GPs have found the time to establish a private, fee paying skin and cosmetic practice on the first floor.

GPs are ok. Let down by some obnoxious admin staff in their ivory tower.

Called to book an appointment about a very personal and pressing concern and was told bluntly that they've changed policy and to reregister somewhere else as I was outside of the area... even though my address hasn't changed in the last 27 years. Rude and rather blunt receptionist.

My family and I have attended this medical practise for over 30 years. The medical advice given has ranged from satisfactory to excellent and the support staff have always been exemplary. Waiting times vary but when dealing with people who are ill you can not run appointment times like clockwork and the Doctors must be allowed to exercise their own judgement on the time to allow for each patient according to the severity of his or her symptoms. Is this surgery perfect? Well no it isn’t but it is good and the best in the area and the best I have been to

This practice provides the worst service I have experienced over my 60 years. It's nigh impossible to book an appointment, the recently introduced queuing service is limited to 25 slots so if you're 26th in the queue you could wait half an hour only to be told all slots have gone (as happened to me on the last two occasions I tried to make an appointment, you are then asked to repeat the process again at 2pm with no guarantee you'll actually get an appointment. The service was this dismal before COVID-19, now they're using that as justification for their total indifference to the patients on their books. I would advise prospective patients to seek a different practice

This surgery has been looking after me and my family for decades. And even in tough times, the team on reception, doctors and nurses provide excellent service and great standards of care consistently. If you were paying for the service, you'd hard pressed to improve it and the fact that it's free at the point of delivery is still a massive plus for our community. Let's appreciate what we have and applaud the work they do day after day on our behalf.

This place suffers from its popularity. The area covered is quite large and highly populated. It is a shame to see all these one-star haters though; the quality of medical care available is impressive and, whilst there is contention for appointments, full service health care that is completely free at point of use is an amazing and enviable proposition. Be patient patients!

I am going to post another review. All staff are brilliant. But my special thanks goes to Dr. Punater. I have now bought my mum to live with us as she has Alzheimer's. When ever I have seen him for myself or spoken with him .He has always asked how things are. Excellent care.

A bit tricky to get appointment, but not worse than my experience in other GP practices. We just need to keep trying non-stop until the line is no longer busy and someone picks up (it can take up to 15-20minutes). Then secretaries are always helpful over the phone, and so far I always got an appointment. The GPs are good, they take seriously any concern and refer you to specialists when they think it's needed. I have been with this medical center for 6 years now and don't regret to have chosen it.

Looked after my family and me for many years. All the Drs and staff are working very hard to make it a welcoming practice. Yes, someone might have a bad day, or reception is busy in the morning. Be patient, have a breath live longer. They'll get to you, rarely ever dropped a call. I'm thankful for the support they've given us.

This place is a nightmare!!! Hope no one's registered in here, if you're ill, you will never get an appointment . So this is what happens, you call 8:30 in the morning, you're on hold , it's 9am now and you're still on hold and at 9:10 the old lady on the phone (" yes!! Can I help you ") You say ( hi I need an appointment please???????????????????????????????? She will say (" no appointment is left for today please call tomorrow ".) You say please ms , she says no!! F***off literally!!

Despite some bad reviews They have always been good to me. Lovely reception staff. Appointments are easy to arrange if you phone at the right times. Blood tests on site, and a handy pharmacy.

Appointments are a joke You can blame cuts in the NHS but totally fed up with this surgery. Getting an appointment is a joke, impossible to get through, then they put signs up saying how many appointments were missed but do nothing about it. If you wanted to ever cancel an appointment, you’d have no chance of speaking to anyone. Unless of course you would like to pay for a private appointment, you can go when you want. Not sure how this works but these “over stretched GPs” are able to find time to do private appointments using facilities paid for by the NHS.

I have been with this surgery for 30 years . Never have I had poor treatment by any of the doctor's & staff. I have seen doctor's come & go & they have all been brilliant. Dr Punater is exceptional.

Only joined here a few months ago and have tried to get an appointment many times called them about 18 times in the space of 20 minutes just trying to get through but it didn't happen and about an hour later when I did manage to get an answer they put me on hold for 15 minutes. Also tried to call today again no answer until an hour later then told there are no appointments available called again at 2pm couldn't get through called at 4pm and I asked for appointment the lady said 'you should of called at 2 when we open our appointments up again' I told her I did but couldn't get through she just laughed at me which is extremely rude and lucky that at this point I have given up. Do not use this doctors...especially if you will be needing regular visits or if you really need help but don't want to go hospital etc.

Staff is really good.. but Dr Simons seems to have a problem with visiting patients.. my little one who is just 4 yrs old was coughing in front of him (which is the reason why we were visiting him) and he keeps saying to him don't cough.. as it could spread the virus.. and he moved away from my son and sat far..without even checking much he said it's virus infection.. It was very rude to behave this way towards a child.. next time I won't book appointment with him.. would prefer other doctors..

Doctors are lovely, but reception keep send me leaflets about smear test in spite I went there 3 times and couldn't have it done because I am a virgin, plus a young English nurse was shocked when I said her that, she couldn't hide her feelings and I feel so upset, specially because I am pure, and maybe she is promiscuous, that's why she was shocked

When you actually have an appointment, the doctors are very assertive and helpful. However getting a doctors appointment over the phone is a nightmare, they never pick up the phone, and can be quite rude.

I joined the Symons Medical Centre in 2014, having been at a number of different places due to moving a few times. The surgery is run by an absolutely lovely group of receptionists who always go out of their way to help you, whatever is needed. They’ve regularly gone above and beyond for me and I’m always left very pleased with their service. The doctors are all professional, caring and above all, they LISTEN. I’ve seen doctors in the past that have made me feel like I was wasting their time but the team at Symons are always brilliant, giving you the support you need. The benefits of the centre include being able to do blood tests on site, having a pharmacy next door and being a stone’s throw away from St Mark’s Hospital, where there is a range of services such as X Ray available, often saving you a journey to the hell hole which is Wexham Park. It is sometimes hard to get through on the phone, but really this is not the fault of the centre, instead an overstretched NHS. They are installing a new system at the present time (Sep 2017) so hopefully this will speed things up. However any tiny niggle is offset by how genuinely nice the team are. I feel safe at this surgery and hope to be a patient for years to come. Chris Edwards

Doctors and face to face service are fine, good luck getting a slot over the phone though, the reception almost never picks up the bloody phone. The reception is totally useless and cannot perform basic secretarial tasks unless you chase them in person, a total nightmare.

The Symons Centre is now running at over capacity, apparently due to the new building in the area. This begs the question, why is there no limit on number and when reached is there not an argument for another surgery to open. It is impossible to get an appointment when you need one and if you work outside of Maidenhead during the week...yes commuters!! it is almost impossible as there are no Saturday services offered. Not meaning to seem anti child care, but schools finish at between 3 and 4 so can't kids get appointments then so working adults have a chance to get as early a morning appointment as possible. I have been at the surgery since it opened and now it is simply crazy in terms of finding an appointment. I am a type 1 diabetic, by the way.

Poor! You only get about an hour in a whole day to make appointments and that's if you can even get through! Doctors have a poor attitude and are judgemental, well all except one. When your at the surgery I always wonder why they need 4-5 receptionists, 2 on the phone constantly, and yet only able to make appointments at 8am and 1pm? Half privatised, prioritisation perhaps? Wonderful

Just awful. I'm going abroad for work in a couple of days and I need to get my blocked ear treated, but they say they don't have any slots, one of their nurses is away etc. If you live in Maidenhead, make sure you don't get any illness or injuries, because you'll suffer.

Having moved from Bracknell to so called upmarket Maidenhead, I am appalled at the shocking level of service at this surgery. When I first went to register I was asked to fill in a 'change' of surgery form. This included home tel no and mobile tel no....I was told it would take 6 to 8 weeks and they would let me know when registered. After 9 weeks I went along only to find I had been registered for a few weeks and NO ONE HAD CONTACTED ME to let me know. I then asked if appointments were texted about 24 to 48 hrs before being due ( as I was in Bracknell)and was told this DOES NOT HAPPEN AT THIS SURGERY. I later completed a repeat prescription form ( for hayfever) which again included my tel no.. i went along to collect a week later and was told they have no record of my original prescription. AGAIN NO ONE PHONED ME!!!! I went back home and tried to phone through to them my Hayfever recommended prescription, and it took 8 phone calls to get e reply. The first 7 calls rang and rang until lines went dead. IS THIS PROGRESS OR WHAT. Eventually I was told that my Hayefever prescription would be ready later today. ...mike woolgar
