Smythson of Bond Street

Shocking customer service - don’t bother ordering online - product gets stuck in customs and Smythson refuse to refund due to DHL issue?!?! Terrible.

Fabulous products here, I went to collect some personalised stationary I had bought for a friend and picked up a beautifully made purse for myself. A perfect place for gifts etc.

If you want products which last, try another brand. I purchased a large jewellery box as a wedding gift. I slipped it, as packaged by Smythson, into a suitcase which went into an airplane hold. When I collected my suitcase I inspected the jewellery box. It was severely damaged. While there is some blame with the airline for mishandling a suitcase. I would have expected a Smythson item to be durable, well-crafted and built with materials that last. After returning the box to Smythson they stated that it couldn’t be repaired, nor would the item be covered under warranty. Sadly, I shan’t be going back to Smythson after decades of being a committed customer.

Smythson has beautiful stationary and leather products that are perfect for gifts or for a treat for yourself. I bought some gifts here and they are wrapped and presented beautifully. This is a quintessential British brand, ideal for friends abroad.

1st class service all round. I absolutely adore Smythson of bond street. I purchased a backpack in leather and with gold hardware. I also purchased a bond organiser in leather. The quality of the products are exquisitely finished and to the highest standards. The lady that served me was lovely and packed my items in tissue and put them in nile blue boxes with blue tied ribbon. Love my items and the heritage not to mention there 3 royal warrants. Will definitely be returning and buying more from them.

First time to try this boutique and it looks nice English brand.

A facade of quality all around. I bought a £450 Panama folder. The zipper broke the first time I dropped it. The factory that repairs the products is closed over autumn, so I was told 12 weeks until it would be repaired. It's been 15 weeks and I am still waiting. I bought a £75 Panama iPhone case that has since been discontinued. The case began flaking apart within 1 week of light use. I went back to get a replacement, and specifically asked (twice) whether the product defect had been fixed, since I didn't want to waste time coming back for another. I was told the problem had been solved, but the replacement fell apart 1 week later. So I have to take the case back in yet again and am verbally promised by the staff at the store a refund once I send them proof of purchase. I send proof of purchase 5 minutes later on email, no reply. Chase them two months later, no reply. I then lose my phone and case. The store manager (Drew Webb) refuses to honour the offer of a refund, despite Smythson selling me a faulty product, twice, and not returning my emails. He was literally smirking at me at times, as if I was the one who was being unreasonable. He tells me any other store on the street would not refund without the product in store. Any other store on Bond Street would not have the horrific customer service and product quality of Smythson. Over-priced, over-rated, over it.
