I'd never really done any acting before but I've always been drawn to and fascinated by the process that actors go through; the way they can arrest something real inside themselves and bring that to the work they do. This is especially true of the method that James teaches. He is very incisive and is able to tap into something in each person. It's an unusual, challenging and invigorating experience and can be transformative. The people in the class are of mixed acting experience and are quite diverse and the vibe is very supportive, warm and encouraging. The course runs over six weeks, with an aim of performing a piece at the end but the whole experience is organic. I'd really recommend James as teacher and this course as a place to explore yourself

I attended Be the Actor Within Time Out workshop and found the process revelatory. I am like a fish out of water in front of the camera during professional filming which is a small part of my job. However, this process changed my perspective to the point that by the final performance, I wasn't even really cognisant of other people in the workshop watching me 'perform'. No mean feat. I would highly recommend.

An intense class in a supportive environment that helps you to express truthfully the emotion and intent behind the words of any script or text you wish to focus on. The idea of dropping your guard and the defences we put up on a day to day basis to allow honesty into your work seems like it ought to be fairly straightforward! But allowing myself to vulnerable and 'in the moment' is much tougher than I thought and incredibly exposing. Working with James, whose passion for this method is contagious, is proving to be a real eye opener and a bit of a revelation. His relaxed, friendly but focussed style allows you to explore your strengths and weaknesses and challenge yourself to do better, to be more. I look forward to the work that lies ahead and to ultimately becoming the best actor I can be. A brilliant, challenging and very rewarding class and highly recommended for those who wish to push their careers to the next level.
