Everyone there is so nice and I’ve made so many excellent friends. Out Youth provides a family for those who might not be accepted by their own

A friend referred me to OutYouth. The location, though far from my house, was homey and inviting. The people there were so nice and the safety they provide is fantastic! I don’t go there regularly. But I did go to pick up a binder. And wow it was completely free! I was amazed and excited and I’m so thankful there was actually somewhere I could get something I’ve needed for a long time but never had the money for. The resource seemed fantastic for LGBT+ youth and older community members as well! I loved the art and encouraging messages all over the walls and the others who attended regularly seemed super nice and accepting. When I walked in I was greeted kindly and asked if i had an appointment which I did. A little bit ignored a wait later, they came and asked if my friend and I needed any water. And also offered snacks and anything from their pantry and fridge. It was very welcoming. I’ve seen a few other reviews and I can see where they’re coming from but at the same time, the safe space is just that. A safe space. They want their members to feel safe and if something happens, you can sort it out via email and explain your experience to them. They are very understanding. As for Allies attending... that seems fine to me. But I understand if they don’t allow them in. This is an LGBT+ space. Allies are fantastic support. But also, I think they’re goal is to have people who relate personally and share experiences there. But I do believe they actually do let allies in. Overall, I found my experience pleasent. And I feel content visiting. Thank you to OutYouth for being a good resource for LGBT+ folk!

The youth and staff are petty and exclusionary. If you are not a perfect “woke” human being 100% of the time, you will NOT be welcome at Out Youth. In 2017 when I was still learning what was politically correct, I said something offensive to another youth. Instead of talking to me about it, that youth and their entire group of friends literally walked out of the building. The staff blamed me for that, and refused to tell me what I said was inappropriate. I fail to understand why grown adults would refuse to teach a child when they made an offensive mistake. I would not recommend coming to Out Youth.

Came to support my neice and my friend. Was excluded from the inclusion. No explanation, no apologies. I guess being an ally isn't enough.
