A friendly and light studio in buzzing Kemptown offering drop-in Pilates classes (a rare find!). The teachers really know their stuff and the classes are a proper workout with an emphasis on fun. They have 2 studios - one for mat classes and the other is a really well equipped machine room which is an incredible way to develop technique. Would highly recommend for total beginners through to advanced.

I Love this. After abdominal surgery my body has been left in a pretty bad state. Lynn & Benji have been an amazing help; enabling me to strengthen muscles that were destroyed and most of all enabling me to feel the strength and power in my body. I cannot thank them enough.

Helen is a superb teacher as are many others here. However, classes are often extremely over-crowded and this is has become a real hindrance to being able to move easily and comfortably in the room. Other studios offer longer classes and much nicer spaces for the same money. That said, the location is brilliant.

I was a regular until last year when I stopped to have a baby. It can be a bit variable depending on who's teaching. Some of them are so laid back that you can come away without having been challenged at all. The claim that you can burn as many calories as running is not the case here!! I was looking forward to returning but I'm not sure that the price rise offers value for money and the online booking looks complicated. Unfortunately I don't have the money to bulk buy in advance so feel penalised for having to buy each class individually.

A bit like the previous reviewer I haven't taken to this place. I think I have tried every class and teacher but it doesn't feel like value for money or a good work out. Its also quite hard to drop in. I personally don't like the clique feel to always seeing the same people at the same classes and feeling like you don't belong to their club - but that's my personal opinon. Hopefully the new classes on the seafront will be more me.

This is the perfect environment to exercise in. Its worth coming over to Kemp Town in Brighton to experience exercise in this clean and airy studio which plays music that is never intrusive but pleasant, If this is near where you live - its a must! Parking is possible during the day within a few mins walk from here. I go in the day times. I am/was not a fan of yoga or pilates particularly having tried both before at other places but I am converted here. The one to one attention and special care that Max gives to everyone of his students is great. He watches out for any ailments you may have and checks you carefully to see where improvements can be made in flexibility and movement..all in all this results in a sense of greater movement and freedom for the body, its a totally holistic treatment in my mind. The owner Carolyn is friendly, cheerful and motivational and also a good teacher..and considerate. All other staff are highly welcoming and professional so that one will look forward to going. Also other people who go along seem particularly nice. Maybe there is a leaning to slightly older people eg mid 30's up but have also seen students come here and enjoy the classes. Mat classes are a max of about 6 people and machine classes are max 3 or one to one so everyone gets individual attentions. One thing I would recommend is that a few warm up exercises are performed at home before you go if you suffer with stiffness esp before the machine class - its not essential I suppose, but if you want to get the most from the sessions this would be a good idea. I am 52 and overweight by more than 3 stone at least..however coming here has inspired me to start to eat more sensibly and drink alittle less too..after putting in the work I want to start to see the results underneath..! I can feel them already and am sure that by around lesson 22 friends will start to notice too..I certainly notice I am standing taller, feeling more confident in my physicality and this enables me to enjoy my life more and be a happier more relaxed person who feels more connected and less stressed and more motivated to do well. I am sure I have Pilates to thank for this. I look forward to attending for many years to come I hope. Well done all at the Brighton Kemp Town Pilates Center for your tireless excellence.
