I passed first time after only 12hrs of lessons! Des was really good at making sure I got my lessons booked in with him before my test and was really helpful especially considering the constraints of the pandemic. I will definitely be recommending Des to my friends.

I would definitely recommend des as your driving instructor. I passed my test first time with him. Furthermore, he is very helpful, patient and extremely knowledgeable. While being very professional, des has an excellent sense of humour to also help you feel comfortable.

Des is absolutely amazing! He makes you pick up driving really quick and keeps you calm while you do so. He is so funny too which makes you less nervous while you drive. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to drive.

I was a complete bundle of nerves when driving but Des was patient, helpful and really allowed me to feel at ease while teaching me to drive safely. Couldn't recommend him enough to anyone looking to learn to drive.

I would highly recommend Des to anyone learning to drive! Before I had Des,I had a different instructor which by now I probably wouldn't have even booked my test. I'm so glad I followed the recommendations from others and changed to Des. He is really kind and trustworthy but most importantly highly professional,he always pays attention and teaches you with precision. Even though I had a few bumps before passing,Des never gave up and I'm very grateful,now I'm driving freely on the roads:) I genuinely would highly recommend Des to anyone

It could have been so utterly horrible. I am a 'mature' learner; I already had an American driver's license, and with it, 30 years of questionable habits. British roads are frighteningly narrow to Yankee eyes, and there is the dreaded reality of roundabouts. Lots of them. The rules of engagement are really, REALLY different. West Sussex roads are notorious for bends, curves, and hills; people also drive far too fast (according to British friends). But Des has nerves of steel. He gave me the information I needed to hear, as often as I needed to hear it, and in as many different ways as possible (and he really does show great restraint). His reflexes make me wonder if there's specialized military training in his background, but one doesn't like to ask. I am thankful. This is an instructor totally committed to putting good drivers on the road. Listen to him and there's hope, even against great odds. I passed the first time, and it is due to this gifted teacher.

I would highly reccomend des any time of the year, he always finds a time for you around your own schedule and his and he's truly reliable. He's always a friendly person to talk to on a lesson, he teaches you all you need to know from day one and always keeps his cool. I couldn't be happier with my instruction under Des, he's incredibly patient and encouraging. I'd picked up plenty of bad habits riding a motorcycle for years before attempting to take my test and he quickly helped me put an end to them.
I will always recommend him to anyone wishing to learn to drive.

Des taught both my children to drive and I can’t recommend him highly enough. The kids loved him and enjoyed the lessons and always came back full of enthusiasm. Des has a great sense of humour and whilst making the kids feel comfortable and reassured he was still professional at all times. I would have no hesitation in encouraging anyone who wants to learn to drive to have lessons with him.

Des was a brilliant instructor! Very friendly and easy going and makes you feel relaxed within the first few minutes of getting into the car.
He was easy to chat too and explained everything in detail and gave you all the time you needed to get to grips with everything.
I would recommend him to anyone looking for a driving instructor, never expected to pass as quickly as I had, but he would constantly tell you how capable you are! He was fantastic

Having used Des in order to pass my driving test I can have no hesitation in heartily recommending his services.
He has a brilliant approach to making you feel comfortable behind the wheel and a very calming and reassuring presence whilst you go about the business of trying to do lots of things at once!
His patience and cheery attitude really helped in calming me down leaving me to concentrate and stay relaxed under the pressure of life on the busy roads!
I was really nervous about finding the 'right' sort of person to teach me but Des was brilliant from day one and we even managed to have a bit of a laugh along the way.
Ultimately his guidance got me ready for and able to pass my test without having to return for multiple attempts!!

Des is a brilliant instructor with a passion to see his students succeed. He approaches teaching with a calming demeanour and an intrinsic ability to put his pupils at ease using good-natured humour and a positive attitude.
Thanks to Des I passed my practical & theory tests first time and his knowledge of getting you through it really is priceless.
Even though I came out of Des’ lessons with a plethora of knowledge and experience, I was saddened to see our lessons come to an end as he’s fun, passionate and honest.

I was very nervous of learning to drive but after a few lessons with des I really started to enjoy Learning how to drive.
He makes lessons fun whilst learning with his cheery manor.

He always seemed to plan the lessons based on my progress/weaknesses. He never rushed to new topics just to tick as completed unless he felt I am confident on that topic. Highly recommend him.

Des was honestly the best driving instructor I could of had.
He was very tentative and listens to you while still having a laugh. I was so nervous to first start driving but he made me feel at ease and I now really enjoy driving (and somehow passed first time!). I wouldn't recommend anyone better to learn to drive with!

As a young person I grew up in an area where there was no train station and a limited bus service. Taking driving lessons and passing my test I still count as one of the top 5 things I have achieved in my life! It has given me the freedom and independence to travel all over the country including Wales and Scotland and enabled me to drive abroad too!
That is why choosing the right driving instructor and getting my 2 sons through their driving test has been a top priority for me.
I was fortunate enough to meet Des before I knew he was a driving instructor and he has now become a close family friend.
He has an easy going nature and is warm and friendly. He made my sons feel at ease and they felt comfortable in his company. Not only is he patient he has a a great sense of humour too, which I feel is important when you are starting out. Des is honest and open which makes him approachable regarding constructive feedback.
Both my sons passed their test first time which is a testimony of Des's high first time pass rate.

I did lessons with Des and passed my test, followed by the Pass Plus for newer drivers. To be honest he was pretty damn good - the most important thing for a new driver (in my opinion) is to feel safe, it can be a pretty daunting experience. I didn't feel in any sort of danger at all with Des, and his friendliness and general chat meant that I felt totally at ease in the driving seat, meaning that I could really focus on the driving itself and nothing else. He is clearly a very experienced instructor and could tell right away what my strengths and weaknesses were, and help me fix them. The best thing is that he creates an atmosphere in that his approach is not at all critical, instead of helpful. He understands that people will naturally make mistakes and is trying to aid you in making less of them; instead of criticising you for making them. I dont write many reviews but think this was probably worth it considering how many hours I spent in the driving seat!
