I've rented with Leicester Lettings for over ten years and can say that the quality of service from them is second to none. Very tidy properties, helpful and courteous staff, very competitive rates, an ideally located office, long established and always professional. Basically, you can't go wrong - I've been recommending them for years.

Avoid this letting agent, but especially avoid Lower Hastings street. I rented 2 flats there. Also see Jamie Lewis lettings on Yell (same company/management, new name from bad reviews). BE WARNED! Huge risk in renting with them if you care to read: At this point I am saving my money to sue them in full, having taken another (formal) mould test in the flat before moving out, sequestered dated medical records and emails, cooperating with the council and having taken legal advice. From all this experience in the 2nd flat, now 4+ months since leaving - I still have chest pain and aches. I am being referred to lung specialists for mould related and perhaps long term immune/inflammatory disease, having had blood tests and an x-ray prior. This is the worst part of it all, and honestly not exaggerated. I have pain when I sneeze… In the 2nd flat I eventually involved the council and send them youtube videos (I sent many over a lot of issues, but here are 3 relating to mould), because they did nothing. The council are forcing them to make repairs before they re-rent: (Seach 3 videos under the channel 'benjmainleicester' on youtube). The first flat was physically nice, heat-able, priced well in fairness, however, at some point, someone was coming into the property and stealing from a neighbour’s room, who had to have their door lock changed at her expense. This escalated to arson, tripping electronics and leaving the front door open at midnights (the latter 2 happened at the same time)! The police were involved as it was next door this was happening, and they spoke to me too r.e. what was happening, and told me to ring the agent to change the locks – agents refused because they said it is not their fault. But they said they would fix it, and nothing at all was done. This got worse and worse, leading to high stress and worsening mental health. I stupidly signed with them again, but had to pay £200 for this whole transfer! The 2nd flat (on youtube) was massively under-insulated, all single glazed and drafty, and focally, mouldy. As an inexperienced renter, but with hindsight, I now gather was there was pre-existing mould ( I thought exposed brick work in the laundry room), and more mould emerged in multiple rooms. When I moved out, I took my couch and furniture of the lounge wall and there was mould behind the entire wall, but not at all on my couch. Again, in hindsight, the entire of the downstairs has the wallpaper stripped back from the floor to half way up the wall and repainted, indicating the damp course is gone/not installed. I tried to remediate with the head and assistant manager Wendy and Sophie to leave immediately through exacerbation and poor health. I told Wendy about all the issues specifically, and she would not even maintain eye contact at times - she seemed so exacerbated about my issues, especially when raising the first flat r.e. mental health and how unfair that was/ their duty to make the building safe. Also my physical health in the present flat. On the 2nd flat alone I lost £1.4K in continued rent to be paid. Most importantly, when I brought up about legal action, both Wendy and Sophie in essence threatened that they could make me pay the full 12 months, which is not even true as I have a termination procedure, but they also raise how they would chase my guarantors for monies. I will be clear here - management does not care, and I have never lost faith in people so hard and fast. Sophie is pleasant, but fundamentally does nothing to actually fix the core issues as assistant manager. Its all superficially the cheapest option that actually does nothing or very little. Wendy, as head manager, I am genuinely disgusted by her behaviour and lack of humanity. After this I involved an environmental officer from the housing council, who are now forcing them to make many changes before they are allowed to rent the flat again. The summary is when it comes to money - they simply do not care. They will repaint over mould between lets until the walls come crashing down.

Such a nice letting agents to deal with. From renting in October-19 to now, they have been amazing. So helpful with queries, maintenance and the staff at the office are so efficient. I have never had a call where I’ve not felt like they helped me, not that I’ve had any real issues to call about. Sophie is my go to in the office, so friendly and helpful. The maintenance guys I’ve had come to the flat are very friendly too. Overall very cleaning building to live in, with lovely cleaners who come weekly to maintenance the cleanliness of the building.

The office staff are always prompt and friendly with any help or questions and their maintenance team are always prompt with any isuues, which are rare.

Recently moved into flat. Leicester Lettings have worked hard to ensure all support I needed was there without any fuss. When I reported minor issue it was dealt will quickly. Today telephoned and they had their DIY man turn up and make good. Excellent service, happy with flat and feel if I need advice or any help in the future Leicester Lettings staff will be there to help me. Thank you everyone for a brilliant service and flat.

I have had one viewing only and the agent showed us 2 flats newly renovated. The staircase was clean and maintained too. The flat wasn't the nicest but the landlord would let us do some changes if we wanted to. I have also heard that this letting agency is good and people are pleased with it.

ive been with Jamie Lewis 8 years and ive loved every minute the flats them selves are well built so quiet and warm in the winter communial areas are well kept. The high end (miele) laundry facilities are a bonus! i take great pride in my flat! As for the office staff i actually like going into see them!! so thanks Jamie! julian

*to respond to the reply. Their customer service is abismal, as alot of reviews state. They DO NOT carry out repairs untill you push it and threaten to take it out of the rent. Donating to a statue isn't charity work. Your website outright lies abort donating to shelter which I checked. You do not offer good service at all. I would wait weeks for Wendy to contact me about any form of repair or complaint. Didn't fix damp, which I have photos of, didn't fix a broken door, a broken window, a leaking shower, leaking taps, tried to charge me for all of it even though it is entirely the landlords fault. Tenancy agreement as I said is legally invalid. Says you're allowed access whenever, you are not, at all, ever allowed access without permission unless it's an emergent. Your awards mean nothing as there are no real awards for landlords or any rules for you. You have 1* ratings everywhere apart from for students. Because they're your cash cow. Absolutely disgusting agency. They claim to donate to a homeless charity yet don't accept housing benefit, after contacting shelter, they've actually said they don't receive anything from this company. The actual owner jamie, had to change the business name because it had such a bad name before. They use workers that have no previous experience, no qualifications, aren't vetted or checked. They turn sheds into studios and rent it out as a property. I know someone who was a personal friend of the owner and said how many corners he cut to get where he is. Even Leicester County Council tell people to avoid this agency. If you're a student you'll be okay. But don't expect repairs to be carried out, don't expect them to secure your deposit. They also carry out an illegal "6 month holding deposit" if you have no guarantor. They don't use it for rent, they steal it. Then, the tenancy agreements. They're also illegal. They have things in there to get them out of repairs, allow them to illegally enter your property, but clearly don't know the actual law stating youre allowed to deny all access without you in the property, you're also allowed to change your locks but they threaten to charge you. They by law cannot do this either. A word of warning. They'll leave you without heat, their properties are not epc rated, they will threaten you. Jamie will send abusive contractors over to intimidate you. And don't even get me started on the actual fact they let out properties to drug dealers, knowing they're drug dealers. But not people who have fallen on hard times. Before long they'll end up on the rogue landlord register. Trading standards are aware of them too.

This company doesn't even deserve 1 star, they absolutely scammed myself and my partner out of our money. It all started with severe damp issues in our flat, which resulted in the walls growing large amounts of mould and floods of puddles under the windows. It got that bad that we had to rearrange our furniture so that it was as far away from the windows as possible. Leicester lettings were useless as soon as we told them about our problems, they sent their handy men out to tell us that we 'didn't have a problem', one of them even blamed us for the excessive damp because we were 'cooking' and 'having a shower', what did they expect us to do in our home? Eventually we ended up getting the council involved and then all of a sudden Leicester lettings wanted to help. Their solution was giving us an industrial dehumidifier, and promised us it was cheap to run. It was 'so cheap' that it hiked our energy bills up so much, that we owed our energy provider £500. If you value your health, wellbeing and your money, avoid Leicester Lettings at all costs. These issues not only costed us financially, but it caused a great deal of stress for us both. We had even had 'damp co' round who agreed that we had severe issues, in which Leicester lettings refused to help us with. AVOIDAVOIDAVOID

I guess that 'landlord of the year' title lol a few years ago went to their heads ! Every year they get progressively Worse ! All they care about is Code students ! Keep taking on board these so called 'Sales Executives' in their office who are really just silly pretenders from uni who are trained to just see £££ as soon as anyone walks in the door & show total inconsideration.. Quite shocking business practice, to note that I was taken to court for a possession of the property, since I could not sign a new contract, owing to my pressing need to move to a bigger place, all I needed was just some time to get a new place - this was happening, although I was still paying the new rent regularly following on from their recent rent increase.
