The surgery is always running late. The waiting times can easily be up to 20 minutes. The receptionists are almost always rude, in person and over the phone. They cut you off in mid sentences and are stern and impolite. My experience with the doctors have been pretty good. They listen to your concerns. The only reason we are still with the surgery! EDIT: My recent appointment with a GP ( not mine) was rushed. I was out the door with my toddler in under 2 minutes - disappointed.

Not a good experience recently. Staff seem preoccupied and blaming Covid for poor response times and attitudes. They have had a year to improve staffing. Managers just don’t seem to care. Attitudes need to improve.

Doctors and nurses are very helpful. Never had a problem. Reception almost never answer the phone. Personally ,9 out of 10 times I had to go there in person to book appointment.

My recent visit to the gp made me share my view on this surgery and will actually move to a different surgery now. I took my 20 week old baby down for a check (during covid) with some ear/eye problem and explained that he doesnt seem to feed as he seems uncomfortable. The gp wasnt familiar with the baby scale and ended up measuring him on a cushioned bed. When we talked about his ear, she said she doesnt have her kit to check it as its being calibrated. I also mentioned that the past few days he had raised temperature, although not above 38 but she didnt have a thermometer to check. It was a completely useless appointment during a pandemic. The advice I got didnt satisfy me, in fact when I checked it at home found out that it contradicts with the guidlelines (breastfeeding babies shouldnt get water under 6 months). After this experience I dont see the point reaching out to this gp as she doesnt seem to have neither the basic equipment not the professional knowledge to treat anyone, let alone a baby. Unfortunately this wasnt the only time I felt let down by the surgery and other gps there but this visit was the final straw.

Shocking service. Cancelling appointments and not updating patients. My pregnant wife feeling like she was totally palmed off.

The new reception staff are quite unreasonable when it comes to booking appointments for urgent issues. This is not a 111 or 911 issue but a recurring issue which needs urgent attention. They need to be a lot more accommodating and understanding as folks that visit the health center don't do so as a leisure activity.

I’m actually really suspicious of this place, I had a problem with staff there at a time when I was sick & slightly defenceless in early 2012, I’ve just started to think through exactly what happened very recently, I have no idea why this place is in the list of best Bristol health centre’s in the Bristol newspaper website, it could be because a lot of patients there know how to deal with quite aggressive people judging from its surrounding area, it could be from online spam, I don’t know what it is but I think some of the doctors there might laugh at someone for being seriously ill & I think the area right next to it, Lockleaze might actually be quite a messed up area even though I think a lot of good people would still live there anyway so a lot worse than possibly Horfield which obviously has its problems but might not be that bad around Gloucester Road or the gym which I’ve seen teenage kids crying & grown ups looking like they’re getting arrested around it, I would personally be very careful with this health centre, the newspaper will over glamourise it to death & people working in other health centres will suggest it as if nothing ever happened but it’s quite likely that it seriously needs to be avoided like the plague & I think there are doctors there that people need to be alert & pretty careful with, best option is to probably not register there in the first place if possible but personally I don’t even think its supposed to be in that list of best Bristol health centres at all & no I would be surprised if Lockleaze is a pretty messed up area, worse than Horfield or St Pauls. One big reason why people might give it 5 out of 5 is because they’re grateful to even have a doctor to go to at all.

Writing on behalf of someone - the staff have always been very abrupt and rude, even just in the manner of which they speak to you. My partner has been condescended and even shamed in an appointment that I supported him to rendering him feeling unable to go to the doctors when he needed treatment. It is hard enough for men in particular to seek help (as society often makes them feel weak if they do) so to have a doctor then reaffirm that by embarrassing him was totally wrong. Very insensitive. Thankfully we have now moved to fishponds and I cannot recommend the practice there enough, the receptionists are much kinder and sensitive and the doctors take your concerns seriously and treat you with respect and dignity.

Every time I or a family member has rang the surgery it has been a diabolical wait time or they have hung up! Very unprofessional. There have been times where i was ringing them and i walked in for an appointment and their phones were not even ringing!! Would love to see the practise manager sort all of this out instead of hiring new GP'S!!!

I know that this isn't a forum but I feel that some reviewers have been very unfair to this excellent health centre. It is a busy place so sometimes I think we have to be a bit more patient, and this is helped by the friendly and helpful receptionists. I required a couple of emergency counselling sessions very recently and I had excellent quality of care from both reception staff and duty doctors - I didn't even have to wait that long on both occasions - even though I expected to because they fitted me in at the last minute. Well done Horfield Health Centre - I wish I could give you more than 5 stars! And no, I don't work for them ;)

Recently I've not been so impressed but it's still welcoming as you walk in, appears to have good systems in place. Think some of the staff say great things, just had one experience recently where it felt a bit less useful. A bit casual- maybe it had been a long day for her. Will probably stick with it but could change GP i guess. Think i have options, might check them out.

I am in and out of the doctors have been for years for several reasons.. I used to attend emersons green Drs then thankfully I moved and joined this one a few months back. Since joining I have had a diagnosis after years of complaints to my previous GP. I am finally getting help with mental health also. I am so happy to be a patiant here all doctors, nurses and reception I have seen have been so welcoming, friendly and helpful!

Lots of doctors emergency appointments if needed can be given out twice a day. Lots of services available within the building. Filming gp behind closed doors but easy to refuse if you don't want to be filmed.

I wish to thank the GP's and nurses who attended and cared for my Mother for some 10 years.Mum was obstinate and obstructive regarding her care but a number of GP's overcame this and did do their best .There are however a number of failings regarding conduct with the NHS emergency Doctors,Ambulance crews and local care agency's.There should be a protocol for GP's in that they are able to report failings of care and then remain distant from criminal investigations being left to do what they do best..being to care for their patient

Usually late on appointments but otherwise they have been brilliant and very helpful when it comes to my children too. The receptionists are friendly and most of the doctors are fantastic the best practice I have ever been with, been with them for about 8 years now
