David was professional, kind and meticulous throughout my journey with him. I was unfortunate to need a tendon and ligament operation on either side of the same ankle which was unusual. He calmly talked me through the procedure I needed, having been keen to try everything possible to fix it without an operation beforehand. The operation was smooth and I felt supported right the way through from start, through the operation and in the after care. I’m now able to play sport again and run after the children and dog, so he really has changed my life. I’d highly recommend him to anyone needing ankle surgery.

Three months after my bunion operation I was able to wear and dance in these shoes and a year later I can't even remember which foot it was. Fantastic results.

One of the best decisions I’ve made. A top class surgeon and support team who have changed life for me. The entire process from initial consultation to 6 month post op review was smooth and straight forward. I would recommend the surgery to anyone thinking of bunion correction.

We 100% recommend Mr Gordon. His knowledge, skill and expertise coupled with his friendly, professional manner gave us complete confidence. He clearly and patiently explained the complexities of the procedures my son required and answered every question. Post operatively the follow up and support have been excellent.

It's been 1 year and 10 months since my double bunion operation and all I can say is that I wish I had done it sooner. I am no longer in constant pain and I do not dread new shoes. In fact I have treated myself to some really lovely shoes and sandals. Nothing to high or tight but certainly a lot more stylish than the shoes I was able to wear. Gone are the days of being embarrassed to show my feet in public - at a spa, on the beach or just at the local swimming pool. I didn't realise just how I had modified my behaviour until I was liberated by the operation. After the op. I did exactly as I was told and I completed the exercises to the letter. It was a tough time as the bones in both feet adjusted to their new positions. The first few weeks went quickly and I was so pleased with the progress and I wanted to make sure I gave my new feet the best of starts. I can walk for miles, dance for hours and am pain free. I love my new feet and they love me right back. Big thanks to Mr Gordon and the team they took such good care of me.

I had minimally invasive surgery in May 2018 to correct a severe bunion on my right foot. From the first appointment through to the operation and recovery, I felt comfortable and reassured. The operation was a complete success and I was impressed by the expertise shown by Mr Gordon during and after the procedure. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Gordon

My experience with Mr Gordon and his team has been genuinely life-changing and life-enhancing. He corrected severe bunions and hammer toes on both feet and 2 years on from the first procedure and approaching that from the second, my only regret is having postponed surgery for so long, since as a keen walker I didn't want to be out of action for weeks so left it until I really couldn't carry on. Having researched surgery types and consultants I knew from the first appointment with Mr Gordon that I had made the right choice and from end-to-end I received superb care, support and treatment from Mr Gordon and his colleagues. Now I can honestly say that with my "new" feet, life is better than ever.

I did a lot of research before deciding who would help with with the excruciating pain of bunions. I decided to go with Mr David Gordon due to the brilliant keyhole surgery offered. From the moment of meeting Mr Gordon to having the operation and aftercare was amazing. The operation took a couple of hours under general anaesthetic. I had both feet done at the same time and was up walking with surgical boots a few of hours after surgery. Recovery took about 5 weeks and I was driving again after 6 weeks. I have no pain at all, I now wear normal shoes, which was a great difficulty before surgery. I can wear high heals and to not suffer any pain in my feet is life changing. The best decision I made was having the surgery and Mr Gordon and his team are first class.

Mr Gordon is a good communicator, has great listening skills and I was able to ask any questions I liked which he answered fully. I knew what to expect from my surgery as his instructions were excellent. He has a good bedside manner which really helped. The outcome of my bunion surgery is excellent and I only have an occasional twinge in 1 big toe when walking. I had my surgery a year ago and my feet look brilliant and my pain has decreased considerably. I highly recommend Mr Gordon as he does keyhole surgery which is incredible.

Professional approach in every step by Dr David Gordon and his team. I visited a few other Orthopedics and I decided with confident that I would have my bunion operation with Dr Gordon. I heard from friends and families who’s been through bunion operation that it would be very painful! However, I couldn’t believe how painless mine was! Recovery was uncomplicated and best of all there isn’t a long scar! As it was keyhole surgery. Thank you Dr Gordon , much appreciate your professional skills.

Dr. Gordon performed a minimally invasive bunion surgery on my foot and I highly recommend him for this surgery. The consultation fully explained what to expect from the surgery, recovery, and outcome. Everything on the day and with the recovery went exactly as he explained. The followup care was great and I was confident to get back into my training regime when he gave me the 'green light'. I am thrilled I was referred to Dr. Gordon for his amazing level of care, and of course the outcome!

I had a Morton's Neurectomy in November 2020. Prior to that I had one steroid injection, which gave me about a year pain free. I had put surgery off for a couple of years following my initial meeting with Mr Gordon, as googling the procedure and recovery made it sound horrendous. I had finally gone for it as I'd got to the point where my pain was fairly constant, and having prevented me from running, it was preventing me from walking too far. Mr Gordon is friendly and calm, and I felt in good hands when I went into surgery. When I came out, he told me that it had gone well. I was in no pain (even from the surgery). Now the bit I was dreading - lying with my foot mostly elevated above chest height for 7 days. This actually went quite quickly, I took a week off work and we'd made some tactical decisions about childcare to make things a bit easier (i.e., I opted to have the surgery on a Monday when the kids were in school). The first week was also fairly pain free - possibly because I was just elevating my leg and resting. Week 2 of recovery was a bit more sore, back to work with my foot on the floor / elevated on a chair, I felt pain and swelling. This was relieved by taking breaks to lie with my foot elevated (even just for ten minutes), which helped. In week 3 I was able to put on wide shoes and hobble about, which turned to normal walking pretty quickly in that week. I am amazed and delighted by the total disappearance of discomfort and the quick recovery, I am now back to long walks and short runs, and am very happy. For anyone putting it off - I wish I had done it sooner. The recovery was smooth, and it is amazing to be rid of the Morton's Neuroma pain I had lived with. I have a tiny scar on my foot, and have healed well.

I was dreading this operation, but it was a totally different experience to what I was expecting and if I knew that I would have had the operation years before! Mr Gordon was reassuring the whole way through and if you follow his strict but clear post-op instructions, then recovery was so much quicker than i was expecting. The pain only lasted about a day or two and then it was totally manageable. I was back doing some sport about 2 months after op and have had no pain whatsoever since.

I had bilateral bunion removal November 2017. I was in absolute dread of the operations but I need not have worried. The pain was minimal and although not being mobile was inconvenient, it all passed well. I cannot praise Mr Gordon highly enough. I have had no difficulties since recovery. I walk miles with no problems. All pain gone as well as my feet looking 100% better. I just wish I had it done years ago but Mr Gordon would have been too young! Thank you again Mr Gordon. I had minimal invasive bunion surgery on my left foot in August 2019. Dr David Gordon was very thorough and clearly explained the procedure and post-operative recovery times. The surgery only lasted about an hour and the main negative after effects were due to the amount of anaesthetic given to numb my foot. It took over 2 days for my foot to have any feeling, which I wasn't expecting, but other than that there was no real pain despite having 2 metal pins in my big toe and shaving of the bone on my little toe. The recovery did take longer than I was led to believe and as I was working at home using a computer, I had to have my foot elevated at 60 degrees, otherwise it swelled up too much and the pins and needles were very unpleasant. I would definitely recommend this type of surgery as recovery time is much shorter than full bunion surgery, however it does take over a year for the foot to feel 'back to normal' and even now, 16 months after surgery, I have to elevate my foot in the evenings otherwise the pins and needles return. David Gordon is a very competent and personable surgeon and I certainly have no regrets about this type of surgery, especially if you have a bunion or similar painful foot condition.

I had minimum invasive surgery on my bunion's under Dr. Gordon's care and I can highly recommend him and his team. I was very nervous at the prospect of this surgery but was instantly put at ease by Dr. Gordon's thoughtful and caring manner. I wasn't brave enough to have both feet done at the same time, so had each foot done a year apart. The recovery was easy for me with no pain or any problems or scars. In fact I only took a week off work each time as I managed to get a lift into the office and was able to keep my foot elevated. Previously it was agony walking in shoes, so I used to spend my life wearing trainers. My only regret is that I didn't have it done sooner! Now I can wear any shoe or sandal I like, even flip flops which I would never have worn before. Thank you so much.

I had excellent treatment from Mr Gordon from my first consultation to the end of treatment for firstly my left and then my right foot. He was reassuring and explained everything clearly. Although there was discomfort, there was virtually no pain, which surprised me. He also straightened my second toe on both occasions. My feet look and feel so much better now and I no longer feel embarrassed about them and although that wasn't the reason for the surgery, it is an added bonus! I would certainly recommend this procedure and Mr Gordon

Mr Gordon was very supportive all the way through the process. Although you have to be prepared for the healing process to take about a year to fully be back to normal, I can honestly say what a great procedure it has been for me and the almost constant pain I was in prior to my operation is now gone. Thank you so much Mr Gordon.

My experience with Mr. Gordon was wonderful from start to finish. My bunion had been giving me a lot of pain and problems in getting shoes to fit......these problems were both sorted after surgery and I had minimal pain immediately after the surgery too! It is wonderful to be free of the pain and to be able to walk long distances and also to have an attractive looking foot again, with barely any sign of the surgery undertaken. Would definitely recommend!

I Highly recommend David Gordon to anyone considering bunion removal with non invasive surgery, and is perhaps feeling a little apprehensive about it. From my first to last appointment he explained what it involved clearly and always answered any questions I might have. I felt very confident with Mr Gordon carrying out the procedure and I cannot fault the treatment I received.

My left foot was operated on in January 2020. My bunion was mildly painful and ugly pre operation - my foot is now pain free and looks amazing in flip flops ! The operation and anaesthesia suggested went extremely well and having followed the instructions given by Dr Gordon to the letter re pain management I had only very mild pain in the 24 hours after the operation . My recovery was equally as seamless I followed the exercise schedule and was back to normal very quickly. I would recommend Dr Gordon and his team to anyone considering this surgery.

I was looked after by medical staff on day of op which went well with day release followed by 1 week bed rest. Follow up appts to check progress went well and I have no pains or problems since. Thoroughly pleased all round

I noticed my right foot starting to swell last year at the base of my big toe and my shoe becoming uncomfortable. Doing some research I realised a bunion was starting and wondered if I could have it corrected before it got to the point where new shoes were required. Researching foot doctors, David Gordon's name came up and I particularly liked his approach of non invasive surgery. So that and being able to schedule an operation to fit in with my work, knowing that I would have to rest up afterwards, we talked, he said a pre-bunion op would work and so I went ahead. After the op at the beginning of July I needed only 2 lots of pain relief, I had no discomfort and was walking in flip flops in Gran Canaria at the beginning of September and back in the gym on my return. Great result, great doctor, cannot recommend highly enough.

The more time that passes makes my big toes get very uncomfortable. They are not so bad in the daytime but when lying down they start to burn, it appears that when pressure is be applied the discomfort goes away.. Is this because a fusion has taken place?

Having already had one bunion removed from my left foot several years before, I was pleasantly surprised to hear from David Gordon how the procedure had evolved greatly. The previous post op procedure involved 2 crutches, heavy plaster cast and no weight bearing whatsover for the intial weeks. This time round I had a bandage and support sandal and not so much reliance on the crutches. At a later stage I transferred to an airboot until it was time to get back to normal walking and now at 70 years old I am as active as the rest of my body will allow. From the initial consultation right through to the operation and post op aftercare Mr Gordon was extremely helpful in explaining everything I could expect throughout the whole procedure. I have no hesitation in recommending him for anyone contemplating this procedure. I am glad I went through it, and can now wear fashionable shoes and walk as far as I want painfree.

I was treated for a full Achilles tendon rupture by David Gordon a year ago and I am happy to fully recommend him to others. David was very swift to accommodate both my initial consultation and operation to maximise the success of the procedure and my recovery. I personally appreciated David's direct approach, explaining clearly each stage of the process to manage my expectations. The procedure and rehabilitation was clearly optimal and my physiotherapist has been very impressed with the accelerated rehab that this provided. I am now a year post surgery and am back to full normal activity. The ankle has been fully crash tested following long mountaineering days and I very happy with the progress. Thanks David.

I had a thickening of a nerve in the sole of the foot, (a Morton's neuroma) which got worse over about 5 years. Walking on rough ground or downhill was painful and shoes and walking boots that had previously been comfortable became unwearable. I tried orthotics and had an injection, neither of which helped much, so Mr Gordon cut a neat little incision on top of my foot and cut out some of the nerve. It took 10 minutes under deep sedation and recovery time was very quick. No pain whatsoever afterwards. A week lying down with my "foot at the level of my heart for 23 hours a day" plus another week's taking it easy and I was then driving as soon as the stitches were taken out. I understand the alternative to Mr Gordon's procedure is a larger incision, longer recovery time and a surgical boot. There were a few admin hiccups at the hospital where the procedure was carried out, but otherwise Mr Gordon and his staff Helen and Alison could not have been more helpful or efficient and most important the op was 100% successful as far as I'm concerned. There are always risks with surgery and these were fully explained to me, but I can only say it all worked out really well and I'm just so pleased to be hiking again.

I am a 64 year old active women enjoying swimming, skiing, line dancing and yoga. However over the past 7 years both of my feet have caused me to suffer increasing pain during these activities due to bunions. I found it increasingly difficult to buy comfortable footwear - even going up in shoe width did not solve my problem. So after careful thought I finally decided that, as bunions would only get worse and more painful as my age increased, surgery was my only option if I wanted to continue enjoying a fulfilled active lifestyle. I chose David Gordon as my surgeon and found him to be friendly, professional and very informative and clear about the surgery and I decided to take the plunge and have both bunions corrected at the same time. The surgery went very well and I was in no pain immediately after. I was discharged on the same day I had the surgery and was given medication which I could take if I felt any post-op pain or discomfort - I am happy to say that I did not require any of it! What did take me by surprise was the amount of bruising I noticed on my feet - they looked very inky blue for quite a while but I diligently took Arnica which helped at lot. I followed David's post-op exercises to the letter and cannot stress highly enough how important it is to do them if you want a good full recovery. Yes they are very tedious and to be done often each day for several weeks and doing them does involve some degree of pain but being committed, determined and persevering is a small price to pay for perfect painless feet in the end! Both of my feet were considerably swollen for quite a while but I was able to wear my soft suede ballet pumps 4 weeks post-op; get into my normal trainers by week 6 post-op and into my normal flat shoes by week 8 post-op. It is now 6 months post-op and I have perfect painless feet; I can get into any shoe and am finally enjoying a painless active lifestyle once again thanks to David and his team!

I’d like to start by saying that I am utterly delighted with the outcome of my foot surgery. I was really struggling with a painful bunion and added arthritis and I spent a lot of time researching what could be done about this. I’m an active person and the pain and swelling was getting in the way of my life, spoiling my dog walking and making me miserable. The other problem was that I was having to buy much bigger footwear and this was then causing problems with my other foot, so neither foot was comfortable and I had aching ankles from sloppy oversized footwear. I was reluctant to have an open procedure as the recovery seemed so long so when I discovered this could be done in a minimally invasive way I was thrilled. I was encouraged by a very positive review of Mr Gordon’s work on his website and how clear he is about the whole process, so it started from there. Dealing with Mr Gordon, his superb PA Helen and their team has been a delightful experience. I can’t recommend this team highly enough. The information I was given was spot on and I knew what to expect at every stage. The surgery went well, the recovery was excellent and it was great to be able to get about without crutches. I used the waterproof cover recommended on the website, so showering was easy and pottering around the house was comfortable too. I didn’t find it a painful procedure at all. I followed the guidelines and I did look after my foot, raising it as recommended and icing it when it was a bit swollen and tired and my experience is that three months on I’ve forgotten all about the surgery and am walking everywhere again. There’s an occasional dull ache if I’ve done an awful lot on my feet but compared to the eye watering pain before surgery, this is nothing. I consulted Mr Gordon because I was miserable with the pain, the footwear and how it was affecting my busy life. The happy extra bonus of this surgery is that my foot now looks lovely too.

David Gordon’s excellent surgical skills and passion for his field combined with his kind, down-to-earth nature make him a gem of a consultant. I felt in very safe hands throughout my bunion treatment and I would not hesitate to recommend him, his team, and the minimally-invasive technique. I have a family history of bunions and although I’ve had them on both feet since I was a teenager, they only began to trouble me in the last couple of years. My symptoms included shooting pains and soreness and a burning sensation when walking, preventing me from walking long distances and wearing several pairs of shoes. Having heard colleagues’ stories of challenging recoveries following open bunion surgery, I researched the minimally-invasive technique and came across David who I first saw in summer 2017. At the age of 35 and with a five and two-year old at home, there was never going to be a ‘good’ time to have surgery and we decided upon an initial treatment of wider, softer shoes. David, however, explained from the outset that bunions are a progressive problem which worsen over time and given mine were already quite progressed for my age, surgery would be the best option if my symptoms continued. And sure enough, they did, getting progressively worse over the following year. I decided to go ahead with surgery on both feet in October 2018 to avoid two separate six-week recovery stints. I felt the surgery went very well. Both David and his anaesthetist explained everything clearly at the pre-, during and post-op stages so I felt informed as to what to expect. I was able to go home after a few hours recovering and only really experienced pain for the first two-three days following my surgery. This was effectively controlled with take-home medication. Any questions I had following surgery were swiftly answered with follow up phone calls from David’s team and the anaesthetist. Having my husband and children away for half term meant I was able to put my feet up (quite literally) for a week and tried to follow David’s ‘Post-Operative Rehab Protocol’ to the letter. This rest and following the exercises helped me recover quickly with minimal swelling after just a couple of weeks. Given the amount of correction David had performed, I continued to wear a wedge boot until 6-weeks post-op, at which stage I had no pain or swelling, was back in my normal shoes and back at the gym. Around the 3-month post-surgery mark, I did experience pain again in one foot. David was thorough in investigating straight away and after a couple of weeks resting the foot and walking in a boot, the pain had completely gone. Now six months post-surgery, my tiny incisions are almost hard to spot, I can do every single toe and foot movement I could wish, have no pain at all when walking or at the gym and I can wear any shoes I choose – including eight-inch heels if I want (David’s words, not mine!) David’s PA, Helen provided an excellent service throughout. She is very approachable and organised and alongside Alison and Claire in the office, the team were always on hand to answer any questions. I am so happy with the result of surgery, and amazed at the effectiveness of the minimally invasive technique. Thank you!

I’ve always had to wear wide fitting shoes so developing bunions on both feet really limited my choice of footwear. Eventually I was getting severe pain in my right foot when walking even short distances so I decided to do some research online and luckily found David Gordon’s web site. I saw Mr Gordon at the London Clinic and he clearly explained the minimally invasive procedure. I also had an arthritic spur which was dealt with at the same time as the bunion on my right foot. I had surgery on both feet nine months apart and in both cases it went very well. I had very little post-op pain and keeping my feet elevated for two weeks and doing the rehabilitation exercises meant recovery was pretty quick. After six weeks I could wear soft trainers and drive short distances again. It’s now over a year since my first op and I’m really pleased with my straight feet, I can walk without pain and have a choice of nice footwear – what’s not to love!

Excellent And Phenomenal results I had toes pointing in every direction on both feet, with arthritis giving pain every day limiting my activities , not to mention unable to wear even special shoes due to rubbing. We found Mr Gordon via an internet search. He had a good website and very good testimonials. We travelled 3 hours and had a very good consultation. Not only was he very amicable, he listened and understood the problems, did the x rays there and then ( even waiting for the results as I believe we were the last appointment). He gave us a full explanation of the problems and the various solutions. We opted for the surgery as a day case on both feet on the same day. It all went well and we did the 3 hour car journey back on same day. The pain was bearable and clear instructions were given for the following recovery period. Hardest was the 2 weeks complete bedrest except bathroom breaks on crutches. But the improvement came week by week. 3 months later pain a lot easier and going on long walks! 6 months later pain free, with all toes pointing in the same direction and all straight. Nail polish now on and choosing shoes from a wider range- Oh what a joy. Last decent walk 2 hours long and now can even dance!

I was in terrible pain with my bunion for over 5yrs and was so glad when I found David Gordon. I had done lots of research to find the right type of surgeon and surgery, I didn't want the traditional surgery that most offered for bunions, as the recovery was too long. I had my surgery in July 2018, I was back at work within 3wks and back in trainers in 6wks, I was so pleased with my surgery and so happy not to be in pain any more. David and Helen were both amazing throughout from the initial consultation to surgery and then post surgery, always on hand to answer any questions.

I contacted Mr. Gordon in the first instance as I had pain in the ball of my left foot for about three months, which moved to the top of my foot just above my second toe. In addition, I had quite a large bunion on this foot and my second toe was just beginning to lift. My symptoms prevented me from walking comfortably, running and participating in high impact exercise. In turn this affected my mood. The only shoes I could wear were trainers. Walking barefooted was even more painful. Although my symptoms were controlled initially by injection, Mr. Gordon’s opinion was that correction of the bunion and toe might be necessary to prevent the symptoms returning. Although I was reluctant to have surgery, the thought of the symptoms returning filled me with such horror that I decided I should proceed with it. I only had a brief window of opportunity when I would have the time and help available to allow me to recover. Mr. Gordon and Helen were extremely accommodating in this regard and so my surgery took place at the end of March 2017. They were also extremely patient and good at allaying any anxiety I had in connection with the surgery. My experience of the surgery has been excellent. I was home within six hours of my arrival at the hospital, weight bearing immediately and although slightly uncomfortable, certainly not in pain requiring any pain relief. Within two weeks, I was able to use a static bike. Within five weeks, I was taking part in spinning classes and within eight weeks able to return to higher impact training. Every time I look at my foot, I cannot believe that it is mine. It isn’t ugly anymore! I am able to wear all types of shoes, even heels. Almost invisible now are the two incision marks, which in any event are only a few millimeters. Many have since inspected the foot! Family and friends are astonished by the result of the surgery and in particular my speedy recovery. Overall, I am delighted with the results of the surgery. In view of my experience, I can recommend Mr. Gordon without hesitation. L Muir, Bishop’s Stortford. October 2017
