This was the first ever NHS hospital. Parking is free but very hard to get a place during busy times. Staff were very good in the high Friendship unit.

This is a very good hospital that's been open for years.the medical and non medical staff are excellent and really take care of you.its not the biggest hospital in greater Manchester but provides numerous services.had a decent sized carpark and plenty of buses go past the main entrance.

Had an endoscopy appointment today and from start to finish, the staff were all amazing. Me being extremely nervous with needles and anything that enters my body, was put at ease instantly. The lady in the procedure room held my hand all the way through and comforted me...such a lovely soul. Throughout the appointment, from the receptionist who was so friendly, I must've had 6 different medical staff and all were properly informed of my condition and knew what they were doing. Fabulous service all round...would definitely recommend this hospital.

My daughter spent 6 hours with myself staying with her on Monday in the walk in centre having various tests before being admitted overnight onto AMU and then referring her for further scans at the MRI. All the doctors and nurses were brilliant and thorough on all the tests which were performed. Thank you for being caring and professional.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE! ...... I would like to thank all the staff, from the people who keep the hospital clean to the doctors. Had a recent knee operation, the care and attention is amazing. I would like to say particular thanks to Joanne.R from the physiotherapy department. Her skill and encouragement are faultless. Also my Surgeon who seen me at very short notice when there was a minor problem post op. Being a tax payer since 16 yrs of age (now 48yrs old) I can see why its worth paying into. We are so lucky to have the NHS and the dedicated staff. #brilliant

What an outstanding example of first class patient care. My girlfriend was admitted with pneumonia and the staff - from reception to Nurses, Auxilliaries and Doctors - were absolutely fantastic. Efficient, kind, attentive and caring. There is evidence everywhere of cleanliness, attention to detail and thoughtful compassion. They even made me a coffee when I asked if there was a machine! Superb!

My daughter attends Dermatology appointments here, as the waiting list was lower than Bolton, where we live, and I now understand why. I find the whole set up very unprofessional and chaotic. We have been four times now and each visit is the same. Always an hour plus behind with appointment times, consultants in Dermatology come across disinterested and rush to get you out, often not even looking at her skin. The pharmacy department is no better. Put a script in and half an hour later they come out to tell you they don’t have said item. Don’t even get me started on the Phlebotomy department. It is an absolute joke. Nobody knows what’s happening, you’re all just sat in this dingy corridor and there is no order or organisation. Some people get called in, some don’t. Patients haven’t a clue what the process is and I’m quite sure the staff don’t either. All four times she has had blood taken they have really hurt her and don’t seem confident or competent. On one visit she stuck the needle in and said “most people have a vein there so I thought I’d just go in and try” that is NOT how you take blood. I’m afraid I have nothing positive to say about this hospital. We are in the process of getting her care transferred to Bolton as visits to Trafford are stressful and not a nice experience at all.

Absolutely disgusted. I was 30 mins early for my appointment. Free parking in the hospital grounds. No ticket needed. Then waited half dressed in a waiting room for 4 hours awaiting my treatment. I can cope with that. It happens. The staff a wonderful. What really upsets me is the parking fine for going over the alloted time. If i want to appeal i have to do so in writing. They don't make it easy. They will then charge me double if I go over the time period 14 days. I will never attend this hospital again.

The staff on Ward 12 (orthopaedics) are excellent. I went in for 11.30am for day surgery on my hand and the only down side was being last of the day (I went into theatre at 6pm). They were so friendly and made the whole operation almost enjoyable! The nurse, anaesthetist and surgeon all saw me within the first hour of arriving and the anaesthetist was incredibly thorough; she talked through my pre-existing conditions and thoroughly checked me over. The technician and post-op nurses were also so friendly and made me feel at ease! Very grateful.

I was recently admitted for a hip replacement and I just want to say a massive thanks to all the staff on ward 12b orthopaedics. Looking back now I think I must of been a pain in the backside! Can't thank everyone enough for being patient with me. Regards

My mother's hip replacement was carried out by Professor Biant. Mum had been waiting with increasing pain and discomfort since July 2017 for the procedure. Communication beforehand was very poor indeed. While she was in hospital most people were friendly and helpful, although clear communication about her treatment plan ( or any!) would have helped. Could the hospital consider that letting people know how they are doing , treating them as people as well as bodies, might aid their recovery.?

I've been a visitor to this hospital. I've been a patient and have had numerous appointments here. The staff are so friendly, helpful and caring. Ive had one or two hiccups, but wouldn't blame anyone, its life it happens. People are only human. Thank you to you all for a great service.

I've been in Ward 12 (Orthopedics) twice and am due to go back a third time soon. The theatre and ward staff were all excellent and very informative about what was happening medically & surgically to me. The food was good and I can't fault the care I received in there. The only downside was the lack of sleep on my first visit there due to being near where the patient alarms were activated - they are very loud - but I had a better experience the second time when in a different bay

Usually good but took over 3 hours to see a 3 year old child. Then called out her name which was said very low in a busy room and didn't even sound right. Missed that and had to wait again. They need more staff on a Saturday, absolute joke to keep a child waiting more than 3 hours. Maybe invest in a screen for the next patient or a tannoy system so we can hear what these people shout out!!

Very efficient orthopaedic Pre-op assessment today. Nurse was informative and supportive, Bloods taken straight away and ECG done all within 1 hour. Thanks you Free parking once we navigated the maze of hospital roads. Could have done with a map sending out with the appointment letter. Just a shame the receptionist was surly and unfriendly!!

I have been in Trafford General several times, it is the best and cleanest hospital in the Manchester area, I have no fears of going in there again this year for yet another operation. The Orthopaedic dept is the very best and the staff are really caring. I cannot praise them enough. Kathryn Erskine.

Okay, it's not a place to go for a day out, but if you need to go to the hospital this is a good one. This is where the NHS started, and although quite small it's very, very good, or at least it has been for me and my family. Friendly staff, good service, and free parking outside. Shame the powers that be decided to restrict the A&E provision though.

My son had a painful inner ear for about a week which eventually required antibiotics. Obviously unable to buy these from the chemist, we needed a doctor to diagnose the problem and prescribe the necessary medicine. Our GP couldn't give us an appointment for well over a week so we used the walk in clinic at Trafford General. I was very impressed with all aspects of our visit, the reception staff friendly and professional, the clinic itself clean and tidy. My sincere thanks to Liz Jones, the nurse who examined my son and prescribed the necessary antibiotics. She was extremely friendly, thorough and professional as well as prompt. My son's ear canal was found to be very inflamed and therefore very painful too. I'd guess we were in and out of the clinic well within 20/30 minutes with the required prescription in hand (arrived just after 8 a.m. so not a busy time I presume), ready for the pharmacy and relieving my son's painful condition much quicker than waiting for a GP's appointment. Very impressed indeed, my thanks again to the staff at the walk in clinic. A great idea and opening hours more suitable than the usual GP's, also prevents non emergency cases clogging up A+E like some people unnecessarily seem to do nowadays.

Switchboard is really poor. They have no knowledge of dept opening times, so will keep trying to transfer a call for as long as you are willing to hold. Poor use of services when all they need is a grid of times next to phone numbers. I've waited over an hour with someone trying it transfer me without success. Now when I look at clinic times, I don't think anyone is in!!

The hospital itself and all the staff and departments are wonderful, it is a real gem. But since being part of CMFT and the phone lines being amalgamated the telephone service is shocking, spend over 30 minutes on hold each time just to try and get through the the department at TGH you need and when you do get through to the appointments department the staff are consistently rude and lack basic manners. I rang up last year to change my address when I moved house, was on hold over 30 minutes for appointments team and told to do it through the the department I was seeing and put through, spoke to one of them (I was under several departments across two sites), they said do it through general appointments, called back- another 30 minutes on the phone being put through (and got cut off once and had to call back and wait again) - the woman refused to change my address on the phone and said I'd have to do it in person at my next appointment, and with each department I am under. I said I wouldn't know when my next appointment was without changing my address, she said they would write to me and could not comprehend that I would not receive the letter for my next appointment if they did not send it to the correct address and refused to change it. Low and behold, I got a text saying 'Remember your appointment, missed appointments cost money' with only 2 days notice- thankfully its my day off work and I can make it- but another 40 minutes on hold to the appointment line to try and find out simply where it was and who with, and again spoken to with rude manners, talking over me, cutting me off mid sentence, not listening to what I had to say (though with a hold times of 40 minutes+ I can see why they want to whizz through them but manners cost nothing, and a little empathy or apology for the situation would go a long way.) Thankfully, though somewhat frustratingly, she was able to change my address on the phone there and then in a matter of minutes, and confirm where my appointment today is, if the first lady had done that I could have saved a couple of hours on hold, high phone bills, their wait time would be lower and their patients less frustrated. It's not surprising so many appointments get missed, many people simply wouldn't hang on that long on hold to find out, or be able to attend an appointment with such little notice, having missed the letter due to staff refusing to change the address, or again, just not being willing to hand on hold for that long to change it. The hospital and staff and services in person are great, the phone lines are completely inefficient, time consuming, costly, and with staff member giving incongruent information, frustrating and confusing.

The A&E unit here is great. I had to take my child here recently after a nasty accident and the staff were brilliant. They were very calm, which in turn kept everybody else nice and calm. They were very friendly and very good with my boy. The waiting times were nothing compared to what I feared they might be. I think the entire ordeal was not much over an hour that was waiting times and treatment.
