My family and I had a wonderful stay at Pop-up’s little secret near Hastings/Camber. Everything about our camping experience was fantastic from start to finish. If you are looking for a campsite which offers you a real camping experience with open fires this is the place to go. The pitches are really nicely spread as well which makes it all the more comfortable. Also for anyone camping with adventurous children this is definitely the place to go to. My children loved running around playing games in the woodland, mucking about on rope swings and cargo nets and playing massive games of hide and seek with all of the other children there. I really can not recommend this campsite highly enough!! Make sure you go and see it for yourselves!

I just got back from an absolutely delightful few days camping at the Hastings site. If you're after an idlic, secluded & peaceful campsite, look no further! The perfect balance of creature comforts and off the grid vibes!

What a wonderful stay!! Back from an amazing weekend with my family and friends. We stayed at the Hastings site and it was just beautiful. Set in and around woodland, the children could explore and be free after weeks of being indoors. The hosts were just wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us. Each day they would pop by just to see if we were ok and needed anything which was nice. I had a problem with our bed and the lovely ladies went out of their way to fix it and find a solution. We had our own toilet for our group provided so we didn’t have to share with too many people. Coming out of lockdown we all wanted to reconnect and relax and this tranquil place was just perfect! Thank you for such a wonderful stay we all can’t wait to come back x x x

Stayed at the Secret Campsite near Hastings. Great little campsite, very peaceful and perfect if you want to feel like you want to camp in the wild but still have your creature comforts (there is a loo and hot running water for a shower). The Hosts are great people, super helpful. Don't really understand some of the one star reviews here, this is proper camping - not glamping. We loved it, will definitely be going back and we are taking all our friends!

Stayed at the river site 2 weeks ago, had a wicked time. Went with a couple mates, rented an empty bell tent, which worked out amazing as my other friends struggled with their own tents, mine was ready and waiting for me when i turned up!!! Which gave me time to have a couple cocktails!! Had a pizza too which was really nice! Really great facilities, super clean! which is always a nice surprise when camping! Will be back for sure!!!!

Great location - a short bus ride or drive into Brighton. Stunning views, which the pitch lay out makes the most of. Fairly basic facilities, but there are warm showers in wooden huts which are something special in the sunshine. Lockers and a charging point are nice touches. Car free camping field which makes camping with toddlers less stressful.

Jules and the team at the River are really friendly, highly organised, incredibly patient and good fun. The site is brilliant - lots of self-pitch locations to choose from. Tempted by the wooded area among the shepherd's huts, we finally settled on the long field. Equipped with composting toilets, water stations and hot showers. Consider pre-ordering pizza on the Friday night to help you settle in, and definitely get a firepit - it just wouldn't be the same without that warm glow on a lovely summer's evening. The river is not far down the track, and has one and two-person kayaks to rent. By-the-day, is the better deal, and there is plenty of river to tootle up and down - we took our lunch and nestled in the reeds to dine afloat. The river is tidal, so do take note of the flow. Pop-up by the River is a fabulous place to visit - we will be back.

Really rude staff. Poor facilities - only one toilet for about 100 campers in Our section on a busy weekend, it was blocked and not cleaned out the entire weekend. More toilets (approx 4) available in the family campsite but this is a further walk away. The two showers in our campsite were broken and we had to queue to use the only one available in the family campsite. When we asked for some help with our tent we were sworn at and I could hear them talking and laughing about it when I walked away. Very unprofessional. Put us off asking for any further help during our stay. I have a disability so was quite uncomfortable for the remainder of my stay knowing the staff members would not assist with any problems we had. Could be a lovely place if the staff were more professional and had some basic customer service skills.

£140 for 2 nights and it was pretty much an empty tent with an inflatable bed. Nowhere to charge phones, even had to take our own rubbish home with us (instructed to by the proprietor) as they didn't have the facilities to dispose of it on site. We were pretty much completely self-sufficient for the whole weekend. The breakfast roll on Saturday was delivered along with tea, coffee, and orange juice. It was hot and tasty but was extremely overpriced at £7 per-head. The showers were no-frills, functional, but relatively decent. However I still say you are better off paying less and taking your own tent along with phone charging capability. It's cheaper and you know what you're getting. £140 each for 2 nights is an extortionate price for effectively just letting people sleep in a field you own. Will never be going back.

Lovely campsite with decent facilities. Good location for access to Brighton. Could do with better signage from the road. Shame they only open at weekends, it would be a good place to spend a bit more time.

We stayed in an empty bell tent, it was ready and waiting on arrival. They are fantastic value for money and easily fitted myself, partner and our 2 mates in. We found the staff and facilities really good. You just want hot showers and clean toilets. We charged our phones up from a plug from the toilet block and then caught the bus off into town, really recommend getting the brighton and hove bus app its really handy for e- tickets and live times. The staff were super helpful we would defiantly go back.

We were recommended this campsite by friends as a great place to stay within the South Downs National Park and we were not disappointed at all. Having booked in advance we turned up and were welcomed onto the land and spent a brilliant week here unwinding whilst sat on sheep skin seating, learning new bushcraft skills and generally having a wonderful time. We have many fond memories from our stay here.

Wow! Waking up to the South Downs was a joy. This campsite was perfect for us. I wanted to have a break in a beautiful setting and still be able to go to a gig in the city. One minute I was in the bustle of Brighton, the next I was sat by a campfire in the downs. Facilities are good, plenty of toilets and 2 showers in the field (if you're tall enough you can see the downs over the door!).

Great location for a weekend in Brighton, good transport links, nice scenery. Bell tent was nice enough, although our was the only one not on a base/plinth!? Facilities were pretty average - 'pamper table' advertised on the website was non-existent, but there were hot showers. VERY very poor, rude management though. I was over-charged for a number of things - a fire pit i didn't use, a 50% uplift for the hire of the bell tent that was NOT advertised on the web or advised to us in person at any point, additional miscellaneous charges that could be explained at all. When i phoned to explain I got a very patronizing, defensive response, and absolutely no apology for quite literally taking money that was not theirs from my account without asking or advising me first. Really, very disappointed. More care needs to be taken to advise and advertise correct costs, and proper (legal) business processes need to be put in place to protect customers from getting ripped-off. It's lucky I noticed the incorrect transactions or they may have gotten away with it.

Very disappointed with the campsite. We had booked this for a hen do and booked the bell tents. The campsite is in a nice location but the tents are at the bottom of a steep hill which the toilets were at the top of. We hired the tipi because it was going to rain however the tipi had holes in the canvas and leaked. There were only benches to sit on in there and we needed our own lighting. The bell tents, while pretty, did not have sealed groundsheets so the walls and our bedding were covered with slugs due the long grass surrounding the tents. One of the beds was also wet because rain had come in the side of the tent. The showers were rustic to say the least and the showers and toilets were not cleaned for the whole weekend. We cleared up our rubbish, took it up the hill to find the bins only to be told that disposing of rubbish was our responsibility and we had to take it to a tip. Given that as a group we paid over £1000 in total for a weekend, this was a rip off and the worst campsite in terms of facilities and service that I have ever experienced. I would not reccomend this campsite.

Dont bother, No toilets as promised apparently due to the end of season so they had taken them away. The grass not cut (a foot long) so you got soaked walking up the hill. Promised me everything on the phone, power points for phones that dont exist. Showers - one in the middle of the field with no place to get dressed. Shared toilets at the top of the hill that were filthy. I have been camping for years and this is the worst site i have ever experienced. Don't bother complaining because Tiz is the rudest person you could every meet and her attitude is basically tough i have your money. My advice is find a campsite with a reputation and avoid this place. Also breaking the credit card consumers data protect act by asking you to write down your security code from your credit card
