Pretty good selection of goods at a decent price. The service was also good and the lady we spoke too was very helpful indeed. Only downside for me and the reason we never bought anything was the fact there's basically nothing in stock these days...

Hi there, To whoever reads this review please take it seriously as I have never received such disappointing service before. This is actually the very first bad google review that I have ever written. Their stores look beautiful but that is it I’m afraid. I’ve spent nearly £3,500 with Barker and Stonehouse and wish I hadn’t. Here is my experience. 1. The delivery guys simply dumped my dining room table and couldn’t be bothered to install it as agreed in store. They dumped it. Pic attached. I live on my own and cannot lift up a solid oak table on my own. Also it’s not your everyday tools required to put it together. I had to give up another afternoon off work so that they could come back and assemble it. 2. 4 out of the other 6 items which were delivered that day were damaged. Rather than send replacements, they sent somebody round to just touch it up with paint. Shocking considering this is brand new furniture. One of the problems is a dining table bench which clearly has not been lacquered in the same way as the other bench. This has been confirmed from the furniture specialist they sent round who agreed something’s not right. I have not heard anything back from Barker and Stonehouse on this matter. 3. I am missing 4 metal prongs which should have come with the shelving unit I ordered. These are to support the shelf. On the phone, they surprisingly had no idea which ones I needed and I’ve been sent the wrong ones twice. I still have not received them. 4. Also, one of the items that was initially delivered was incorrect. They sent me a replacement today and guess what…. it is damaged. Pic attached. This has been going on for weeks now and wasted 4 days off work so that I could be in for them to keep coming round and fixing their many mistakes. They are also very non-flexible with long distance deliveries (even if you do only live 2 hours away!). I really do urge you to NOT order from Barker and Stonehouse.

Buying some wardrobes from there. Been in and rang a couple of time for fitting instructions. As our walls are slightly out. Wanted to prepare for when the arrived so we coukd fit them easily. Still waiting. Warbrobes hopefully here in mid Jan

Placed an order for a complete bedroom set. Was advised that there were delays in delivery and drivers need to leave the goods at the door. Received a call to say the whole order would be delivered in July. Turns out part of the order missing and bed frame damaged. Went directly back to the sales assistant who sends me to customer service. No help at all. Been chasing for weeks now. Shocking customer service, delivery times beyond a joke even though advisors state your whole order will be delivered by a set date. Damaged goods. Initial purchasing seemed fine. Aftercare awful. Was foreword and gave the benefit of the doubt. Wish I hadn’t bothered.

nice show room, lots of choices available but you couldn't order from the store, they asked us to order online which we did, 5 weeks ago. paid for delivery on my three items but one item was out of stock, they have since delayed delivery twice on all three items because one isn't in stock. waiting til end of October now

I have really liked barker and stonehouse for a while however I don't know it is just this store or more generally but it seems to be more and more a sofa store rather than a furniture store. Not sure what has happened to the interesting dinner tables and shelving etc. Staff were friendly and the place was well laid out etc just shame about the significant increase in sofas and nothing else.

Avoid this company at all cost !!! The frame broke on our new Sofa. After two visit from Homeserve Furniture Repairs we were advised it would be collected for repair. This happened on September 16th. After 3 weeks we contacted Barker and Stonehouse our call was to be returned. This did not happen. We called again and again…. Eventually we were told the Sofa was still at Barker and Stonehouse not with Homeservice. Todays the 16th November and we still do not have our Sofa back………….

We had the most amazing experience at Barker and stone house when shopping for furniture for our first home. We was being looked after by Lesley who gave us all her time, listened to everything we wanted and made it happen whilst also sticking to our budget. She is a credit to the company and helped us the whole way through. Lesley had the most welcoming presence and patience of a Saint. We will be back for more furniture and we will certainly be coming back to Lesley. Thank you so much Lesley you made our experience premium.

Not many shoppers in at the same time as us, so it was quiet. We asked some questions about some furniture, and the staff member was cordial, but rather short with their answers. mainly telling us to "look at the brochure" for any information we were asking for. They could have been more helpful to us. Not the best experience we have had here. Almost as if it was a bit annoying that we were asking any questions at all!

Place was nice, staff were nice but delivery has been 4 months and still not here. Customers services really don't care either. Was meant to have part delivery and all before Christmas but was called up and told they wouldn't do it even though it was on my invoice. Finally going to get it delivered before Christmas then got a call the day before saying something was wrong with the table so would have to be January. Got another call saying it was out of stock and we'd get it February Got a call after they delivered everything. And they gave me money back straight into my account which was for the long wait which was pretty good as if I had got vouchers from them I wouldn't have used them. Furniture was lovely just a long wait

We ordered our sofas in December and 30 weeks later they have not arrived. They were due for delivery after 12 weeks and had they been delivered on time they would have arrived 2 weeks prior to lockdown. Barker and Stonehouse are now asking for us to pay the remaining balance without even having a delivery date arranged. The delivery company Transvalair are difficult to work with and do not appear to deliver to Leicester very often. They offered us one date this week for delivery at short notice however, being key workers, we were unable to be available for this date. They have not been helpful in securing a new date. On top of this Trasvalair were planning to deliver the sofas to our garden, when asked how they could guarantee that the leather sofas would not be damaged by sitting outside in the unpredictable British weather they did not seem keen to address this issue. In comparison I have a friend that ordered their sofas from DFS and has had no issue arranging delivery since the lockdown has lifted, including delivery into their house, which took place socially distanced. Essentially the customer service from both B&S and Transvalair has been pretty much non-existent. I would not recommend any purchase from Barker and Stonehouse that requires delivery and I would avoid companies that use Transvalair also.

Ordered 5 different items, all of which once arrived in completely happy with, but had multiple issues with all 5 items regarding delivery, and each time you speak to someone about an ongoing issue, there would be no record or differing records. Has put me off going again but I might risk it for the right product

We ordered 2 beds from Lesley. She was very informative. There was a great choice. It’s the best experience we ever had of furniture shopping. The delivery was perfect. They wrapped the furniture so well, it arrived in pristine condition. The staff are freindly and helpful. We will be buying more from here as we have the rest of the house to furnish. Such a well stocked and friendly store.

The rating applies to our most recent experience of visiting B&S Giltbrook. My mum (who has spent a lot of money here) ordered a bed that she saw in store a few days ago and yesterday went to pick up it up. The bed was not ready for collection and didn't have any protective cover on, despite being on the shop floor. This review is mostly aimed at the manager, who didn't want to help and was huffing and puffing throughout. She thought he was rude and abrupt, mixed with hearing a member of staff calling another member of staff an 'idiot' made the whole experience seem unprofessional and amateurish which is not what you expect from B&S. The manager also expected a velvet framed bed to be loaded on a van with no bubble wrap or covering. I too have had a poor experience on my most recent visit. My partner and I was looking at a piece of garden furniture but have seen the same piece at £899 elsewhere rather than the £1299 price tag at B&S. I asked the sales assistant who was very polite and helpful as to whether they would price-match. The sales assistant returned after asking the same manager mentioned above with a 'unfortunately not' - fair enough. But the manager did say that the garden set on Robert Dyas is likely to be 'bankrupt stock'??????????? I don't quite know how you can make such an assumption, which also seems a very strange justification for not price-matching! Also, if you look on the manufacturers website of this particular garden set its £1099, so B&S are asking for £200 more + delivery... In summary neither myself or my mum will be returning. I think B&S need to look into this as I cant imagine the behaviour displayed by the manager that I have just mentioned is the image you want to give as a brand.

We ordered a wardrobe and after 3 months received a phone call to say it can be delivered. It was booked in for a Friday delivered and the following Monday to be put up which suited me as I was off work. Later that day I got a phone call saying it would be fitted Tuesday like I agreed. No I didn't. It took a few phone calls and a lot of arguing before they agreed to fit it Monday. Might I suggest recording phone calls. The workmen turned up put there tools all over my bed. Kept standing all over my underlay that was rolled up out the way which is now all ripped. Marked all the walls and cieling and didn't even have there own steps. It took them 6 hours and told me it was there first time in someones house and never put one of these wardrobes before. It was a nightmare.

Lovely furniture, displayed beautifully and of brilliant quality but my main reason why i havent given it 5 stars is because a lot of the staff (not Lesley, she's actually helpful) seem to not be helpful if they think that they aren't going to be getting a sale from you on that day by way of judging you based on age and how you are presented when you walk in. This hasn't stopped me purchasing a number of items from Barker and Stonehouse over the last few years but it does grate on me and encourages me to purchase online rather than instore and sometimes with other companies.

Ordered cushions online on 3 October, the website said 3 weeks for delivery. I have not yet received them (End Dec 2019) and have only received 2 emails from the website with no explanation. I was however refunded within 24 hours of requesting one.

The store has some lovely items and really do make you want to do home improvements. At first the staff seem helpful.. however.. when spending in the thousands on an item you really want it to be right so after us asking further questions and then wanting prices of a different design we were told "no". A certain member of staff did appear rude. They dont appear to have time for customers who seem to want more options. We did get a price a few days later and it was so expensive it made us think they may have done this on purpose or simply they are so expensive. And what made me giggle was they made it sound like they were doing us a favour and they were offering it to us cheap. We since went to pondsford in Sheffield and had a very nice gentleman spend time showing us our options on the computer and kindly showing us samples and then offering it us alot cheaper than barker and stone house. So there and then we have ordered it with them. The member of staff at barker and stone house also wasnt correct in information she told us as you simply cannot have the handles fitted on the glass draws like she offered so there knowledge isn't what it should be either. In my opinion they are good staff if you are a buying customer but if you are a customer wanting advise and take time in choosing the really cant be bothered with you. Also if wanting to sit and discuss things theres no where to go and go through things with you as we had to sit on a bed in the shop to do this. Not professional at all. Yes it's a nice shop with nice things but please shop around as there are more options out there for you

Superb furniture of the highest quality and different styles. Staff is kind and ready to help. This is definitely an expensive place but if budget is not s problem is due with visiting (also for Windows watching as items are very nice). One can find many ideas to furnish his place, regardless it is a small flat or a huge house.

After waiting 18 weeks for the delivery of a dining suite I was horrified to see that the very expensive highboard (from Germany) was completely smashed when unpacked. A new one was ordered but my efforts to get an assurance that I get some sort of priority for its delivery to me when received by Barker and Stonehouse, have been extremely frustrating. I have written to the Nottingham store manager but had no reply. I have tried to phone the Nottingham manager but the number given is the one for their headquarters. The actual discussion was also frustrating because the operator kept talking over me. When I eventually told her to shut up, she terminated the call! I stress that at no time was I rude or used bad language.
