Rob was very wonderful! He called to update me on his ETA, which was 30 minutes earlier than expected. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He even called me an hour after he had dropped me off at the tire store to make sure everything was done properly and that I was okay! Highly recommend using Rob if you ever need a tow.

I requested roadside assistance through Nationwide and 2 minutes after I submitted my claim Rob with Derek's Towing called with an estimated arrival time of 20 min... I was shocked and skeptical because it's in the middle of rush hour, sure enough 18 minutes later I had a phone call saying he was outside.. he was wearing proper face covering and gloves, quickly got my car on the truck and gave me a suggestion where to get a good used tire ( which isn't even why i needed the tow he just noticed it was extremely bald) Great customer service!!! Chances are if you need a tow your day is pretty bad, my experience with Rob made this crazy day a little easier to manage!!

I called Derek’s towing in a pinch to help a friend who got locked out of her car. My payment method went through and he was on his way to help us, however the road side assistance my friend called 2 hours prior arrived before the driver from Derek’s could. Previously, her roadside assistance was not in contact with her and could not provide any details on when assistance would arrive. Derek was kind and refunded back the original payment with no questions asked. I commend him on his professionalism.

I needed a tow and was stuck on the side of a busy road and Rob happened to drive by off duty and asked me if i was okay and needed a tow! I was already coincidentally using Derek’s Towing so he called to make sure they’d be able to get my car soon, and when he heard they were busy, he went back to his tow truck and picked up my car himself. 10/10 service!!!

I would like to thank Rob of Derek's Towing and Recovery for the professional and friendly service of towing my car. If or when my car needs a tow or roadside assistance, all I want (and I'm sure you do too) is someone who can get the job done promptly and efficiently. Rob did just that!!!! I am sure he is a real asset to Derek's Towing and Recovery or would be to any company. A. Moore

Had a great experience w/ Robert @ Derek's towing this evening. My differential decided to let go, and I needed a flatbed to the repair shop. Robert let me know he was on the way and verified where i was, showed up promptly, and managed to get my rather low-slung car on and off the flatbed without any issues. Highly recommended!

I'm going to make this clear Rob is the ONLY REASON Why I'm giving this experience 3 Stars. My tire blew out on the way home and Progressive my Insurance Company Roadside Assistance assigned my vehicle Pick Up with this Company. I had to arrange a ride due to the current Pandemic and that was fine. When my ride arrived and I went to call to see when my driver would arrived whomever answered the phone was like it's going to be 90 minutes. Mind you it wouldn't let me choose to leave my car I had to wait. This incident started at 6:36 pm I had to use the bathroom. I had my service animal with me and it wasn't scheduled to arrive until 8:21 pm and was told by the dispatcher that if I didn't want to wait then I needed to call back to my Insurance Company. My tire blew out on a stretch of a road that didn't have a shoulder. 2 nice gentlemen made it possible for me to move my vehicle to a safe location. When I called Roadside Assistance back because the dispatcher was rude I was told that I would receive a text message with the new provider. Yeah, THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. Not only did Roadside Assistance get my Location where my Vehicle was they also didn't get where my vehicle was going to wrong. By this time I had made it back home to pick up my other vehicle and head back down to my truck because I never received a text. When I called back my service was put on hold it was stated that my vehicle was going to a storage unit. Then after I got nasty I was placed on hold. The re dispatched the same company that was rude to me to begin with. Now I've requested to speak to a Supervisor, NEVER GOT ONE and when i was called again from the Dispatch told them whomever answered the phone was rude. I had to verify where I was cause it was wrong and the drop off location was wrong. I was still on the phone with Roadside Assistance when Rob showed up. I had to call back to correct the drop off location even though I typed my address in because a Real Representative wasn't available because I had to submit my request through a link. My truck made it home about 10:20 pm still NO SUPERVISOR call back. I'm grateful to Rob's personality because I WAS LIVID. He was calm talkative and definitely understood my frustration. When I questioned my Roadside Assistance cause it states 30 minutes or LESS. I was told that what's advertised on their site for PRIVATE CLIENTS IS NOT THE SAME FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. Yea, I'm still trying to figure that one out. A paying customer whether it be PRIVATE or part of ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SHOULD BE TREATED THE SAME. This experience was so STRESSFUL, THAT I GOT PHYSICALLY ILL, when I finally got back home. Had I not went back to sit with my car until assistance came, I would probably be screaming on a Rep. trying to figure out WHERE TF MY TRUCK WAS. I'm definitely going to be looking for a new insurance company cause PROGRESSIVE IS DEFINITELY SOME TRASH! THANKS ROB, MIDDLEBROOK IN DA HOUSE!

They arrived pretty quick and helped us fix our problem but the tow truck driver was very rude. I wasn't able to reply quick because my phone was on silence and not a minute went by when he said he would move to his next job if i didn't answer. When he arrived there he complained to my husband that I was not answering his calls and was beyond rude. *Update* The driver called me several times within a minute, again, i wasn't ignoring the calls on purpose, I'm not complaining about the service because you did get there very fast and helped out in literally seconds and that's amazing. I just thought it was rude that not even a minute went by from me not answering your calls because once again I WAS DRIVING AND I LITERALLY COULDN'T HEAR MY PHONE and then you had to go telk my husband i was ignoring your calls. I have a sick child at home and was already stressing out about getting there on time. Once again, service was amazing, I'm pretty none of your customers needed to wait longer than 1 min just because i missed your call. My husband and brother in law both said you were very rude and if you read the other reviews there are a few other people who have said similar things. Just be nice, you have no idea what someone may be going through. I believe you were just very impatient because not even a minute went by after i missed your first call and you texted me saying "if you don't answer I'm moving on to my next job" If I had gotten caught on tbe phone while driving I'm pretty sure you all would've never paid for my ticket. You all are good at your job, I just want to make that clear, but the way you treated us was what got the 1 star, not the way you helped us solve our problem because you were fast and efficient. And no, you did not ask politely. Have a good day.

They were horrible. They blamed the insurance company for "not dispatching the tow" - sat at the scene of an accident 1 hour longer than everyone else. A few days later, we went to get things from the car at there establishment... We called the night before to setup a time, the next morning nobody was there, called the office, the lady's response was, "Nobody told me you were coming.". I would not recommend them for anything. Lengthy delays in every step of the process and it is always someone else's fault. Sorry for the bad review, but it's the truth.

This is the worse towing company ever. I have been sent to them 3 times in the last year. Every single time they are late and rude. If you call for an ETA they say they don't care their guy is late and hang up. If u ask a question they don't know or don't want to tell you they put on on hold forever. This was just the last year not all the other times I had to use them in the past and the service was horrible.

Rob was super helpful and nice when coming to pick up my car after it wouldn't start. He went above and beyond to help me, even checking my car to see if he could help. Great company and they're efficient.

EDIT: you will notice the company responded by defending their actions rather than focusing on customer service. We provided our VIN number, make model and color of the car every time we called. In fact the driver that promised they would be there within 30 minutes indicated they knew the car and last name that I was asking about. You’ve seen my experience and how they handled it. Use your own judgment I don’t typically leave reviews, but I felt that I needed to share my bad experience. The company lied about trying to service my vehicle, and made me pay up front. This was a waste of three hours of my night. Needed my car towed because the battery was dead and jump starting it wasn’t working. USAA got us in touch with this company. We were told we needed to pay up front and had to choose between a jump start or a tow. We asked if they could try jump starting car, and if it didn’t work to tow it to the garage. We were told that we would have to put in a ticket for the jump, then if it didn’t work, call back and pay for another ticket for a tow. We elected to just have it towed to not risk paying for both. We were told that the truck would be there within the hour. Shortly after that we received a text saying the drivers ETA was 0 minutes, but the truck had not arrived. I tried calling the company several times, but couldn’t get in contact with anyone. Eventually got ahold of a receptionist who said that they had another job in the area that triggered their GPS to alert me that they had arrived (?!?). I was told they would call soon when they arrive. Another hour passes and a driver STILL had not arrived. I called back and seemed to have spoken to a driver who was aware of the car that needed to be towed and ensured me that he would be there within a half an hour. AN HOUR AN FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER I am tired of waiting so I call USAA to have them cancel the request and demand my money back that I was forced to pay up front. USAA then contacted the towing company who said that there were 2 tickets put in for my car, one for a jump start and another for a tow. They LIED to USAA and said they came out and attempted to jump start the vehicle and could not. They did not contact me that they were there. I never provided them keys to start the car. Luckily I have a video doorbell to prove it! This is a shady company, and I would advise you not to work with them. I’m thankful I wasn’t on the side of the road because I would have been waiting for THREE HOURS

Highly recommended! I was little, well ok lot stressed, and the driver treatment of the situation was one that you would want someone to treat a family member. I would give 10 stars if I could. I called the office to let them know they have an outstanding employee. Let me know drivers name is Rob. I know he introduced himself but in my chaotic mind couldn’t recall it. This driver should give out tips to other tow drivers how treat people in time of stress. He did his job but he also took few extra minutes to reassure me things were not as bad as they seemed. Great job!! If you need any services they offer don’t waste time calling around. Top notch services. Thanks again for outstanding service.

Rob, from Derek's Towing was awesome! Showed up about 40 minutes early! He had a place for me to take my car with a business card in hand. He even called me to tell me about road work that could affect the spare on my car! Well done!

Some decent employees must work there if all of these five star reviews are real, but the owner and whoever works reception are rude as all get out. Everything is somehow the customer's fault, and somehow the customer is always lying. Can't believe this guy is still in business - oh wait, I can, because he utilizes the barely legal predatory towing practices that I thought weren't allowed in Frederick anymore. Hope someone gets enough real evidence together to sue Derek White.

I was out of town for job training and had a tire blowout on me on I70 and was assigned this company through roadside assistance. They were very helpful with selecting the best shop for repair and showing up within a reasonable amount of time. I don't remember the driver's name ( i wish i did because he was a great guy) but I asked him to take me the 10 minute drive to where I had been heading and he agreed without hesitation. Very friendly and professional

These people were supposed to come help me put on a spare tire. I waited over an hour after booking online, only to call and have the person who answered state he was “unaware we got assigned that job.” He stated he would be here in 30 minutes. I waited another hour, and then called back multiple times only to have no one answer and no chance to even leave a voicemail. Horrible horrible horrible. Good thing this happened at my apartment because if I had been on the side of the road I’d be screwed.

We blew a tire on 70 and called for a tow and tire change. A driver showed up in less than 15 minutes, was very professional, and was understanding that we had 2 dogs with us. We were on our way within an hour. This is my second experience with Derek’s and both were great !

Justin, the driver, was very apologetic about the delay and although the office staff had informed me that they don't provide air on their trucks to fill flat tires (what? why?), Justin had a personal portable air pump with him and took care of the flat, also pointing out that my tires were in pretty bad shape with noticeable dry rot. Very professional, gracious, kind. The five stars are for Justin (not for Derek's). Justin was training a driver that day, who also was very helpful and observed that my battery was dead, so they also recharged my battery. Long wait but overall great service. Thank you, Justin!

Called for a tow and was told they would be there in 45 minutes. Waited an hour and a half in the heat then decided to call another company. That company was there in 15 minutes and as we were pulling up to our garage destination we got a phone call from Derricks towing asking where we were located about two and a half hours later. Poor customer service. Will never call again. I feel the least they could have done is called back and said they would be later getting there.

Rude and Unprofessional. Derek's Towing is a company that is comfortable with taking advantage of families at any cost. Derek's makes sure that they make a buck whether that is through a threat or a bribe. Additionally, the company is run by several rude and unprofessional individuals. Check out their replies to other customer reviews and you'll see the integrity (or lacktherof) of the people running this crooked operation.

Worse than terrible. State Farm uses this place. Ick!!! Said they would be there 3 different times and didn't show once. In addition, the owner, Derrick, was rude to my wife on the phone as well. Advise never to use this company. Not sure how they are still in business. Maybe the State Farm contract, but I'm going to complain to them too.

A company led by a man who is willing to drag a family for his own profit. My yellow bug was my car. It was my car when I was a teacher and reminded me of my good old days before I had a baby. It was my dream car. We fell on hard times and couldn't pass the state inspection to get a new registration, so it stayed at a family member's for a while. (Being young parents isn't easy.) Eventually she needed it off of the property. My husband was then able to get another state inspection and was able to afford the repairs to make it pass. Only, he lost his job due to COVID and unemployment has been cut in half. We have two little boys (had the second before he lost his great job). We had the car for a while until one day we looked out the window and it was gone. We called the police. They told us Derek's towing has it. Even they were surprised. He was supposed to give the police 2 hours notice. I am pretty sure it is illegal to tow without notice. Derek's said it was fine because they warned us about this in 2017. Derek's does night patrols in the middle of the night, where they mark and tow cars. (But if you look at the reviews, my car isn't the only they towed without warning.) My husband talks to Derek and asks if there's a COVID relief plan. Derek says "Cant help you." So I write a review on Google reviews, giving him one star. My husband then gets a call from a man who says in a menacing tone, "Follow the rules. Get the registration" and hangs up. I look up the number and it belongs to a Derek. My husband tries to go back the next day and ask if he can get our belongings, including car seat and baby carrier. They say no. Again, I am pretty sure this is illegal. But what can we do? He finally gets an appointment with the MVA. We couldn't register online and had to go in person, because of the repairs involved in the car. He also asks Derek if we can be billed later so we can afford both the registration and the towing fee and he says, no. However, he says, "I will give the car to you for $200 if you change that 1 star review to a 3." My husband comes home and tells me this, honestly wondering what I want to do. I do it. I'm no fool. We will have $14 for the rest of the week. Today of course we realize something. Insurance benefits have more or less stopped for the unemployed, so we can't get a registration. He is on the phone with the MVA and GEICO and nobody can help us. We don't have any friends or family to park the car at anymore, so my husband says, "Either we surrender it or find another way." I can't play this game anymore with Derek so I choose to surrender it. I then look it up and see that police have relaxed during hard times and probably wouldn't have pulled us over for expired registration anyway. It was all because of Derek's predatory nighttime patrols that I lose my car. We really tried, especially my husband. He knows this was my dream car. But because we are poor due to COVID, we are being judged as delinquents who choose to not follow the rules. (Look at his response below.) I call the police about this matter and they said while this is civil law and not their wheelhouse, this is definitely unethical. The officer even told me I should definitely change my 3 star review back to a 1 star. So here is my 1 star review. I hope you enjoyed the money, Derek. It came out of our groceries.

My car broke down at advanced auto parts and I needed to have it towed from there to a shop. I called Dereks towing and within an hour had my car at the shop. I wasn't with my car, so Dereks towing was able to take my payment info over the phone and they even dropped the key into the night drop-off for me and wrote my info and problem on the envelope, which is going out of their way. Both men I spoke to on the phone were also extremely friendly and helpful! Thank you for such great service!

The truck arrived early and Justin got straight to work. But he didn’t tow my car. When he heard my troubles (no key to operate the vehicle) he gave me the name of a company that would come to my home and make keys for me. So no need to deal with a tow and then have to get a taxi the next day to pick up the car. And instead of waiting a day to get the keys I’ll have them by this evening. Thank you so much Justin!

I’m not one for doing reviews, but please keep the drivers in line. Having someone tell me they would be on-site in half an hour means they should be here in half an hour. I sat for an hour and a half in the parking lot due to false timeframes. In the future, please do not tell someone a specific time if you are not going to be on time. Shame on whoever the driver was. I was really hoping the company would shine through its negative reviews. Maybe next time.

Rude and obnoxiously was late and I called stated they would be to me in 20-30 minutes! Called an hour later the phone just rang didn’t go to messages. So I tried dialing again. Guy answers rudely I’m with another customer you will just have WAIT! Needless to say called insurance company back to dispatch a new business. This guy was terrible. In business always treat others the way you want to be treated you never know who your speaking with. Unfortunately for this business I’m a social media expert and plan to make sure that everywhere a review can go one will.

Absolutely terrible company. Should be removed from aarp’s reference list. They killed my car battery preventing me from opening my trunk and getting anything, made up “storage” prices as we went along, forced me to make an appointment for access to my towed car, made insurance investigations an unnecessary hassle, overall a scam run company with no ethics or client service. Will not use again, do not recommend, I used them and will not make hat mistake again.

When trying to call for service, the person answering the phone immediately began with “What do you want??” in an angry tone. I asked if this was Derek’s towing and recovery, to which he replied “Yeah, I’m on the other line! I’m busy!” And then hung up on me. Very unprofessional.

I cannot Express how frustrating and rude this shop can be. After waiting almost 3 hours, the guy showed up and did not have his right tools. All that was not the issue. The main issue to keep my story short, he replace my tire in unprofessional job where I have to replace other parts because tires was not coming off due to installing it unprofessionally. Called the owner and he said sorry we are unable to do anything and that is not his problem. What a perfect customer service you guys have. All what I can say, do not you worry people read and see these bad reviews. Good luck with staying in business!

Company was called by insurance company. After a 1.5 hour wait, I called the company and asked the ETA. Owner responded with “he is on his way and hung up”. Tried calling calling but there isn’t a VM and no one answered. After, the 5th attempt he answered. I said. “Before you hung up on me, I had one more question” he responded with “what do you want”. I asked my ETA question again. He responded with “I told you he was en route. Probably 30-40 mins”. Called insurance company and cancelled that service. I rather wait in the side of the highway than trust my car with them. So rude. So unprofessional.
