Perfect site for our summer English courses. The site is so close downtown that you need no transportation for sightseeing. Love it!

I graduated from King's in 2016, having successfully completed an MA in human geography. Despite that, I would warn any prospective Master's student (and especially talented ones) looking at King's to think long and hard before making the investment. And an investment it is - the MA is expensive, and so is London. It's been 3 years since I graduated, and as I said, I was successful and got good grades, but I thought it was time to warn others and share my experience. Let's start off by saying that my expectations were high, perhaps too high, and they didn't deliver. I was led by their supposed reputation, ranking (now dubious) and website. Well, Oxford, Cambridge or UCL, this isn't. I rarely felt passion from faculty staff, neither in the classroom nor outside of one. Classes were dull, uninspired, passionless, lacking in methodology, at times bordering on insulting and lacking in any intellectual challenge. Students, who can sometimes be seen shopping online during class, didn't always seem of the highest calibre either. Classroom discussions often descended into incoherent rambling, with professors lacking leadership to guide students towards any meaningful conclusion, impression or "truth". None seemed to want to "teach" anything, at least in the Socratic sense. Especially lacking was any sense of "why are we here?" or more importantly "Where can we make a contribution"? Professors were there to get their lecture done and go home or do the research they enjoyed. I learned and gained very little from the lectures, and what I did I could have read it online or in my books. The experience was essentially negative. Some things I witnessed were downright shocking. On more than one occasion, one prof handed out sweets or fruit (yes, fruit!!) before student evaluations and then stayed in class and stared at us while we filled them out. One regularly came to a methodology seminar totally unprepared and then claiming that they were on strike. I received dirty looks in the corridors from another (ironically I half enjoyed his lectures.). I got no help from my supervisor for my dissertation. It's true he was clueless about my topic, fair enough, but he could have shown interest or provided encouragement. In the end I was directed to someone else, who did put me in touch with a useful contact, but basically I was on my own. The Strand campus is beautiful - ish, but it's also crowded at peak times, and it can feel like a chic high school when you need to climb past hundreds (or what seem like thousands) of undergrads in the stairwell to get to your lecture. Student study spaces and libraries can become very crowded, some are poorly ventilated and reek of off-gassing furniture or carpets. Older parts of the Strand feel downright 1980s or worse. The Geography department is a bureaucratic nightmare, with a smug disdain for students and no clue on how to communicate information to them. Finding out all the rules for the dissertation submission seemed designed as an intelligence test. Rather than putting them all into one document, they were shared between multiple documents, all hidden in different places, some online in different places (or websites), others available from the office, difficult to keep track or make sure you covered them all, emails that talk about changes to one but never include a link, other emails that refer to a document title but using a completely different title (yes, we have to figure out that what seem to be two documents with two different names are in fact the same document!). Everything seemed explicitly designed to mislead, tire you out and confuse you, maybe with the hope that you would simply give up so they wouldn't have to mark the thing. In the end, if you put the work in and have a strong sense of why you are there and what you want to study and research, you can be successful and get the grades and the piece of paper. Just don't believe the website and brochure spiel about world-class teaching and the pictures showing happy students living their dream! That's just what it is!!

beautiful campuses and almost all of them in the city centre. staff and students are helpful. As a leading university in the world, their famous programmes are demanding, yet taught by very famous and experienced professionals in those fields... definitely recommend.

Kings college will happily accept tuition fees from international students but also will happily use it to fund racist lecturers.

Great uni in a great city. Heard it's going to be even greater next year because it will annex Aldwych Quarter. I'm definitely one of the proud alumni of this priceless gem of an institution of higher learning.

Spent 3 years of my life in the physics basement back in 2000 and I enjoyed it enormously. The place has been transformed since then and it is now quite beautiful. Moving the cantine from the basement to the first floor, next to the chapel, was a great idea. I'm always enthusiastic about going back there to visit colleagues.

Doesn't deserve even 1 star. My son had dental appointment - as he wasn't well I wanted to cancel the appointment - tried calling for few days and was on the phone for about an hour each time but not speaking to someone but on hold moving in the queue. Last time was determined to speak to someone and reschedule the appointment but was on the phone for 3 hours!!!!!!! and still no connection even if I was first in the queue for an hour!!!!. Where is all admin staff to take calls? They will be quick to complain about people missing appointments but nobody care about picking up calls.....

A brilliant place to be in what forms part of the exclusive 'golden triangle' of unis. While the academic rigour is at par globally with the top schools and its research calibre excellence, could do more reaching out to the other countries outside the BRICS economies in terms of setting up research centres.

Uncomfortable environment for students of colour. Students there do their best to ensure the imprisonment of black students and also shun them when they study alongside them. The biggest regret of my life studying there in the first place back in 2013. Particularly students on the Chemistry with Biomedicine course like Saloni shah. It’s 2018 yet racism towards black people is not on the wane, not even institutionally.

Won't tell the staff of my workplace what their monitoring is finding out. Why not tell us? This is our workplace and I can get the info via freedom of information anyway.

Kings College ranks very high for biochemistry - on a par with UCL and Imperial. The only critical observation is that it does not offer any part time courses, even though its course is modular.

They let communists run free on their campus, promoting violence and the suppression of free speech. This institution has fallen a long way. What's the point of getting and education if the professors and students teach a backwards, violent, and failed ideology? Just stay away.

When I graduated from King’s College London world class academic standards were the order of the day. Over one and a half decades later this still holds true today. King's is currently ranked 19th in the world as part of the QS World University Rankings of the top 800 global higher education institutions. King's is tough. Be under no illusion. There are plenty of other institutions where you can gain an easy degree. However, if you really want to earn an exceptional degree, you really want to learn plenty and you also have something to say for yourself, in other words, if you genuinely want to help contribute towards society and help make a difference in the world around you, then, King’s College London should be your university of choice.

Read some of the negative reviews and the contributors didn't even go here. I saw one review for UCL that said: 'The students that go there are really lucky' (3 stars). If you're going to review a place negatively, it helps if you have actually studied there.

King's College is a truly miserable place to study and work. Library refurbishments, fancy, yet broken IT systems will not buy anyone quality in teaching or personal and professional development. It is all hype by a marketing dept who work tirelessly to keep up the illusion. To all international students, save your money. In fact, save your country, stay in your own country, keep your life simple, keep tight family bonds, retain your rich cultural identity. In case anyone is wondering this narrative is not a student viewpoint. King's College London ensures it is at the center of all Wars and positions itself on the front line for all future conflicts. War in KCL is a lucrative industry to be exploited from every angle. Soldiers come to pick up their degrees in uniform. Political events, especially those in the Middle East are highly screened so no opposition speakers will dare to attend. How you ask? Well one way is this: Events often have the clause, 'Alcoholic beverages will be served'. 'Cheese and wine reception' while you speak to Mr Abdul Sellout. What is it like to work in KCL? As a member of staff from ethnic minority you either become a well paid and compliant 'Uncle Tom' or a liability. The whips will be cracked to keep you productive and running around. The IT systems are failing and a joke even on the staff level. As an employee you 'simply smile and wave'... An example: You save a document to your home drive and it disappears into latency. You will find it hours later, sometimes days later. Investment for undergrads is heavy on e-learning, not simply for flexibility, more because it fits in with cost cuts. Lecturers are busy with own journals and publishing books while students are left wandering corridors trying to find them. MY ADVICE: AVOID THIS UNIVERSITY LIKE THE PLAGUE !!!
