A wonderful shop but now [October 2020] sadly closed down. Online by post seems very good.

Having spent two years looking elsewhere my first visit to Fabric Land revealed that elusive 70s retro design I was looking for.

Quite big choice of fabric down and upstairs. Prices are good, especially compared to other city centre fabric shops. Young staff nice, older not that much. Don't expect that someone will take care of you, or ask if you need any advice. Just decide what you want by yourself, take fabric, wait nicely in line and then you will be served. If you are upstairs, use the bell and wait patiently. Do not press the button several times. If no one is coming straight away, it means that they are busy downstairs and will come eventually. If you will keep calling, a very rude person will come, tell you why you shouldn't do that and cut your fabric carelessly. I saw this situation exactly four different times :) It's just a shop where customer is not always right :)

Been to the shop a few times now, and find the staff unhelpful and rude. Good cheap fabric

Not much choice given the name. More haberdashery than fabric- I was going to ask for help but the guy working the till seemed a bit overwhelmed and I left as it got way too crowded for me and I felt bad for the staff. I'll go back but not until the virus calms down a bit. Staff were following social distancing. Customers not so considerate.

Great shop for all kinds of fabric. They didn't have enough stock of the material I was after, but were helpful in suggesting their website and wrote down all the details for me. I will be going back again later in the summer.

Very good selection of fabrics. Shame all prices went up in the last 6 months (Brexit apparently!! I was told). This now makes them more expensive than many online fabric shops. Staff helpful but not always.

Good range of fabrics over two floors, cheap prices. The staff seem somewhat disinterested but maybe they warm up for regular customers.

My sister and I visited the Brighton store this morning. What a great shop! Wonderful choice of good quality but very reasonably priced fabrics, excellent and knowledgeable assistant, smiley and polite. We shall definitely be coming back or ordering on line. Thank you Fabric Land!

A large range of inexpensive fabrics. Staff were helpful and pleasent. There are several posters around warning customers not to cut the fabric themselves or to take rolls of fabric downstairs etc These seem rather unfriendly and show a lack of respect towards well meaning customers

I will never buy there again. Awful service. I entered the shop and asked the oldest shop assistant a question. No smile and completely unkind. I chose what fabrics I wanted and came back to the desk to ask for it. A young shop assistant and the oldest lady did not take any notice of me. I thought, well they are both busy, until a couple arrived and the young lady asked them what they wanted. I thought they were obviously not taking any notice of me. Then, the oldest lady asked me what I wanted and I answered. She didn't even blink an eye to ask me to "get the fabric rolls I needed". I answered, Do I have to? I have never been asked to do that before and I have back problems. How could she ask me to do that? It is her job, not ours. If she asks this to other customers, does she decide who can carry a roll and then she asks? After I said "Do I have to?" she got the rolls but she looked so angry and I felt as if she was doing that as an obligation, obviously not enjoying and no idea of what being a shop assistant means. As if it wasn't enough, another young shop assistant kept looking at me as if there was something wrong with me or as if I had stolen something. How rude to stare at people like this. In brief, awful attention and completely rude and unkind staff. All of them. With all the bad reviews they have, I wonder how they still exist. If Fabric Land hired real shop assistants - because these ones are definitely NOT shop assistants, they don't assist, provide an appalling service and are so rude - there would be many more people buying there. Do not forget we have family and friends and we tell them not to go there so they do not experience what we did. We recommend shops where shop assistants are helpful, kind, cheerful, and assist customers, not the opposite as they are in Fabric Land.

I often popped in on on my day off. I was appalled run in just after 9.15am one morning. Couldn't believe it 3 staff all standing there eating bacon rolls. Now would I want them cutting fabric or anything else I needed. I was ignored, walked about for 15 minutes, not even a nod. Upon listening to them complain about another customer who was there at dead on 9, I'm sure that's the time it states on the door they open. I left the store. I needed something last week and thought let's see if anything has changed. Slightly different, no bacon rolls, great. Then the rude demeanour and eye rolling, as well as taking personal calls, I will definitely not go back. I have a lot of friends who have seen this too, who often run in. I've been in customer service for 30 years in Retail, appalling, where is the training. The new younger girls look embarrassed by the older ladies. As the old saying goes 'treat people the way you'd like to be treated', obviously they don't care!!! Won't let me post with 0 *

I popped In a couple of weeks ago, and I was so shocked by the awful and rude service. This is my first negative experience of this shop and I've been there many times before. It is so sad because it used to be a friendly place you could go for help and they would help you find what you need. But I encountered 3 emotionless girls, 1 of which didn't even possess the ability to politely answer me with words but instead just shook her head unable to even try to help me (I was only trying to remember the name of calico to buy some, so I didn't buy any) when she did speak don't worry, it was also with a rude tone of voice. I was absolutely shocked.

A good selection of fabrics, I shop here regularly for my fashion line, but unfortunately the customer service is SO poor. I've witnessed the staff bitching about customers as soon as they leave, you'll find it hard to even get a hello. I recommend going in knowing what you need, because the help won't be there.

There is a lot of fabric of questionable quality (and even composition! Some tags don't have fibre content listings!) in this shop, but there are some gems to be found for a good price.

I have shopped myself a few times and was fine as I know what I'm after. I have asked my partner to go in a couple times for me to pick something up and they are so rude to him because he doesn't know much about fabric... I will not be shopping there again

Cheap fabrics and good selection but always need to wait min 20mins. Staff is usually helpful but not kind and sometimes give half-an-answer which leads to misunderstanding ( e.g. About prices.) They answer your question and that's it. All-in-one I would recommended.

Never going back... Staff were very slow and lacked enthusiasm, although compared to the lady in charge, they were amazing. Very rude. Watched them poorly treat a customer who had an email saying there fabric had arrived, only to be told they were wrong, regardless of the email they had from the business informing them otherwise.
