Great cobbled lane/courtyard location, a really interesting and unique place to come across. Bear in mind this is someone's home (hence The Drawing Room) so don't have expectations in terms of a straight business- portion sizes are smaller than expected and sometimes service slow- you are paying for the surroundings rather than the amount of food on your plate, in my opinion somewhere to graze in low gear rather than arrive hungry to. (Though I wish this wasn't the case, I would love to tuck into a big (ie typical size) English Breakfast here...)

The Drawing Room is perhaps unique providing Art, Music, Food and Refuge and all with an equal measure of commitment and good old fashioned hospitality. It is rare that you find a place where you feel you can talk to complete strangers over coffee and cake. Where every coffee and plate of food is prepared with thought and served with pleasure. It may not always be to your particular taste, in which case just mention it to the staff and you'll find yourself accommodated with an alternative.
The art is sublime, tasteful (and judging by the amount of young mums, ladies who lunch and the odd vicar that frequent the place), totally inoffensive. Some of the UK's most esteemed figurative artists exhibit at the Drawing Room and you stand a fair chance of meeting one of them, as I did just a few weeks ago.
The music evenings are great fun attracting a wide ranging audience from mature teenagers to babes in arms. Quality musician and an eclectic mix of musical genres make every event an experience that stays with you.
I will finish by challenging you to sit outside the Drawing Room on a warm day, enjoy a coffee or whatever your choice and not walk away more serene and energised. It should be available on the NHS. No, I don't have shares in the place, I just think something so special should be acknowledged.

Fabulous evening last night and Richard and Paula should be named "Hosts of the Year" :-).
Listened outside on the patio, star filled evening, fairly lights and under a warm/toasty marquis, soft blankets with wine to Natalie Duncan's sweet English soul & blues and later, inside to cosy upstairs, front row to hear Declan Zapala. Fabulous food, company, wine, people and entertainment. Thank you Richard and Paula and particularly my friend Fi for taking me.
