We went to see the Bowie exhibition and it was worth every penny. Lots of images me and my boyfriend had never seen before (and we're big fans). The playlists for each room were amazing and even though the exhibition itself isn't massive we could've spent the whole day there!

Reasonably priced, variety of different subjects and a nice size to spend a couple of hours wandering around. The Snowman exhibition is particularly good. We also enjoyed trying on the costumes from the various other exhibits. Would definitely recommend.

People who are interested in museums will like it. 6 pounds for the entrance. Many things to see in the museum. Good place to visit. Outside the museum there is also a garden when we can relax.

Excellent museum with a diverse collection of exhibitions from Brighton's history to LGBT to Ancient Egypt. Everything was well documented and explained. Well worth the £5 entrance fee. They also had the Snowman Exhibition which showcased slides from the book. Absolutely superb. I would recommend this.

I visited on a pleasant mid week May half term day with four of my children. The member of staff at the main desk was brilliant with my excited and lively kids which put my mind at ease before entering the museum and exhibitions. Luckily it wasn't too busy and we were able to spend time reading bits of interest at our leisure. The kids enjoyed the various hands on areas throughout, especially the different costume stations, skeleton puzzles in the archaeology exhibit and the self portrait part of the art galleries. We followed the free animal trail booklet which helped to keep them engaged as well. As a Brighton resident this was an excellent free day out and we spent around 90 minutes here but it could have been longer if the kids had been a bit calmer! On a practical note there is a lift to go upstairs which fitted our single mountain buggy, myself and 3 kids. There is also level access to a large toilet / baby changing area at the back of the building, there are also various places to sit on the way round.

A supremely well priced, accessible, wide-ranging museum & gallery featuring art masterworks, culture, fashion, ancient Egyptian artefacts, and local interest exhibitions. Definitely worth a look if you're ever passing through the town. The temporary exhibitions at time of writing (Jan 2019) are particularly fantastic. The absolute highlight must be the Snowman exhibition featuring original drawings from the animated film, a huge photo mosaic of the titular character, and even local artist & visitor interpretations of the Snowman.

It's pretty nice museum for the local people. If you came from London, of course there are so many museums there with much more contents. However, it's really nice place to visit. I'm not sure why the museum thought it's good idea to make that sort of session like 'leave your message' stuff.

The Brighton Museum and Art Gallery is situated right next to the Brighton Royal Pavilion. It has a cheaper entry fee compared to the Roy Pavilion. This Museum has a wide range of historic artefacts from Pharaohs to 'modern' history and links to LGBT too. These are especially interesting to see and read about if you don't know a large amount about its origins. If you do have children with you there are some child friendly areas such as Lego box upstairs and at the moment, there is a Snowman film being showed where you can watch with your children and they can draw some snowmen too! I learnt a lot from my 2 hour visit here and schools and all ages are welcome. There are also free exhibitions going on and the website for Brighton Museum will tell you 'whats on'. I found it a great place to visit and anyone would personally enjoy themselves learning about many different things. Even trying some masks and clothes! It's great fun!

The Royal Pavilion is a glorious folly from a previous age, combining elements of several cultures and all very well set out and curated. Additionally, it comes with history from WW1 and a close association with soldiers from India, for which it was a hospital during that period. In all, a fascinating social and material history from Brighton's original golden age to date. The Museum across from the Pavilion has some wonderful exhibitions from Egyptology, to early human activity in Brighton, 20th century artifacts, an exhibition of clothing & costume from the various sub cultures associated with the city, and a display centering on the more risque aspects of Brighton. In all, a great potted history of the city ana its inhabitants.

Love this museum but was a bit disappointed recently when the Ancient Egypt and the Archaeology Galleries were closed. My grand children were too. I know it was to do with covid but hope they can find a way to open it soon, that is after the next lockdown!

Very eclectic museum with lots of different exhibitions, so there's something for everyone. The "Museum of Transology" exhibition was a particular highlight, with a wonderfully curated selection of stories of transgender individuals and their experiences. It was beautifully emotive and very informative, and the visitors' label tree was very hopeful. There were also two opportunities for some dressing up and interactive exhibits for kids. Would recommend getting the "history pass" ticket, which gets you into the Pavilion and Preston Manor as well.

Visited in the summer as part of a trip back to Brighton, from the outset rude front of house staff as we paid for tickets put us off. There are ways and means to get what you want and it isn't making visitors feel like naughty school children instead of paying customers. Museum is beautiful and full of history, having the headsets really helped with understanding its heritage. Part way round we stopped in the cafe, again we encountered an issue, ordered two drinks and two scones, we waited and the full order didn't arrive and on questioning it, found they hadn't quite got the order right originally. Instead of rectifying it, they not only had the attitude of 'yeah what do you want me to do about' their lack of customer care or awareness is non-existent, so we finished up and left. Wouldn't recommend a visit or your time, just for some of the attitude of the staff.

This is a great institution, we who live in Brighton and Hove are very fortunate to have this progressive museum to visit and attend the many interesting and informative exhibitions and lectures. The staff and the expert conservators are always willing to answer questions about the work that they do.... Highly recommend

Bulking at the cost of the Palace this was a great surprise. Quite an ecliptic range of themes but all very well presented. I loved the archeological room and its human story through the ancient skeletons! There's definitely something for everyone and today it was free! But I did leave the suggested donation.

Thoroughly enjoyed this museum on a miserable Sunday afternoon. It was quirky and I learnt some fascinating information about Brighton's history. What really stood out for me was the Museum of Transology upstairs. The exhibition was emotive and inspiring. Trans historiography is an essential element of human lived experience and I'd love to see this expanded as a permanent exhibit.

Some lovely displays and was impressed by the display of the prehistoric timeline which was excellent. However some of the exhibits I was fond of are no longer on display like the jewellers shop front and some items of the 1920's. Some of the themed exhibitions take a lot of room.

Price is affordable, they have some really cool stuff. From modern art all the way back to a (quite small) Egypt department. Upstairs they also had a japanese art installment and some more classical fine art. It's not huge, but has a reasonable size. All in all it's a fun experience.
