A knitted sweater is considered “see through”. These people are all on power trips! You follow the directions, wait and hour and a half to even get to the section where you are searched and then get turned away because the knitting shows a little skin.

It was a pretty good stay for a Holiday Inn. The breakfast tasted very similar to aluminum, and I only got shanked with a rusty nail twice.

I know its suppose to be prison but prisoners have rights too. Which the staff are so nasty and they are just as bad as the prisoners. If you treat someone like a animals then they become one that simple

It was terribly overcrowded. Made me wait hours until my release. Food was terrible. Had to sleep on a "boat" bed on the floor. You're locked in your cell 22 hours a day, as you're on "22 and 2". Yes it is prison but the accommodations are like a 3rd World Country. Just a horrible place to be. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Wow - a family member was being held on a probation violation. prison wouldn't let us tell him that his father died in person. Went that night to see the inmate after the prison staff told him. Wouldn't let me in as I was the second visitor there. SERIOUSLY?!?! No where on the website does it say one visit a day ... and how mean and callous the guards are. Where is their humanity????

This is a prison, not a Hilton or something. This is the place for you to correct yourself. Good luck and have a nice stay there Sun.

I had gone there to visit my sister, they were absolutely RIDICULOUS with the whole dress code thing, you can't have anything remotely see through which is understandable I guess but certain clothes that's appropriate they had an issue with as well, don't wear anything low that shows cleavage, they told my mother she couldn't go in cause of that and a young woman thank God gave her a shirt God bless her, they didn't allow my mother in with sandals yet they let another young woman in with sandals,I don't know if it was racism or what but it was absolutely infuriating to me of course as her son. Also, the guards there have THE MOST disgusting attitudes, they seem so miserable,if you hate your job so much why work there? My sister told me the water is contaminated and they're denying her some type of medication,I'm calling no ones answering, yes my sister was involved in faulty stuff but she didn't murder anyone or rape any children or anyone so it's horrible that I feel that's how they're treating her.

They lost the list several times to let me in for my visit. Yesterday visits were canceled. I simply asked why and he said I don't got to tell u s..t. And said now get the f out of here. You can't treat people like that. Damn shame most of the cos that work their are worse than the inmates. He gave me the finger as I left. Very poorly run. And I know their is a star but I don't know how to make it none. Very upset but he will be having a talk with his boss

Pennsylvania's standard judiciary process required I attend court/hearing 6 times (including a continuance due to officer absence). Each occasion brought me over an hour from MD to Media, PA, just to receive additional court dates. Inevitably I was unable to make the 6th appearance due to work and transportation issues, but promptly turned myself in because even though I called and prayed for a continuance, a bemcb warrant was issued for Failure to Appear. I was arrested on site, and brought to George W. Hill Correctional Facility. A majority of the staff are extremely rude, despite attempts to smile and remain pleasant in such a horrid situation. I was kept in their "booking cell" for 48 hours. It's a room roughly 16'x14' with a partition for the toilet area that's roughly 6'x14'. In those 48 hours I shared space with 21 other men, all of who were forced to sit and sleep on the decrepit floor, as the benches only allot space for 8 men. In this time frame, body heat culminating with bodily functions made conditions exponentially worse. Once finally having been moved from the booking phase of my stay, I was brought to a 2-story tier used for new intakes. Protocol required is to be locked in our cells for 22 hours each day. Although each cell is equipped with bunk beds, most housed a third person, who was forced to sleep on the floor next to the toilet. My cell was even dirtier than what I experienced during booking. Inmates literally fought for the privilege of being the one allowed to leave the cell to retrieve meal trays and bring them back to be eaten within locked cells. Although I slept on the floor, there were no steps to allow the other person access to the top bunk. Top bunks also lack guard rails, and those that fell during sleep were neother acknowledged or given medical attention. During the two 1 hour periods inmates are permitted to leave the cell, all 72 of them must share 2 single-person showers that only dispense cold water. If not showering, there's a TV and 8 phones. The 70 remaining inmates often quarrel over the brief opportunity to call loved ones or contact legal representation, despite the fact that the second hour of freedom isn't granted until 8pm, long after normal business hours. You're not issued and socks, underwear, or any clothing aside from the set of blue scrubs and slide on shoes that rarely fit. No leisure activity is allowed in the cells, including reading or writing. Even a loud conversation between cell mates will be reprimanded. My neck was severely injured due to being forced to live, eat, and sleep on the floor. All my grievances were ignored by staff, despite the polite and cordial nature in which I brought each to their attention. I'm normally the type of person to forgive and forget, but conditions in this overcrowded facility are inhumane, and my injuries are now documented, despite refusal to acknowledge them from the staff there. A lawsuit will follow, and I invite a representative from George W. Hill Correctional Facility to reach out and initiate correspondence regarding my short, yet traumatizing stay.

I’ve been trying to get my family out of there since Friday, yes I know it’s not the Marriott but the family committed no crime and sometimes neither did the person incarcerated. I was told to post bail there I drive all the way there and was sent home two days in a row because “bail was denied” LIES the “system is down” LIES!!!! There needs to be a class action law suit against this place! The employees are rude, unprofessional, badly trained and lie to keep from doing their jobs. SHUT IT DOWN!!!! Or FIRE EVERYONE!

Odds are if you are looking at reviews you are about to spend some time here so let me set some expectations. I was sentenced for 5 days and here's what happened. I turned myself in on a Monday at 9am and was moved to a intake cell. The cell is designed for 8 people max but they jammed about 20 people in there. I was in there for the first 24 hours with no bed but was allowed to use the phone as long as the others werent on it. While in the cell you can be in there with just about any kind of criminal. Slept on the floor with a blanket and 2 sheets and even then you are bunched together. After that you are moved to a placement block where you get a room designed for 2. They were over populated so there were 3 people a cell with a floating bed. While in the placement block you are in your cell 22 out of 24 hours a day. The other 2 hours are recreation time when you can use the phone which charges 3 dollars then a additional 21 cents a minute for calls, or watch what TV the guards want to watch. When rec starts there is a huge race to the phones (there were 8) which inmates can use up to 30 mins a pop. After about 2 days you will meet with a placement counselor who will place you in a permanent block for your stay but you dont get moved immediately. For my 5 day stay I wasnt moved. Other things to know. The guards are for the most part not helpful and dont care about your issues. In my case the water was constantly running from the sink in my cell which made sleeping very difficult. Also halfway through my stay the clock in the recreational area stopped working which made time literally stand still. The guards did not care about it at all since they all had watches and were, well, free. I was also in the top bunk and had a AC vent blowing on me the whole time in mid October which got me pretty sick pretty quick. You get 3 meals a day which are all very tough to stomach as you could imagine and the "juice" they give you is worse then the water. I was told at intake that I would be released at the time I turned myself in by a separate consular but this is not the case. You will either get out at 1pm or 9pm accordingly. At the end of the day I understand its jail and it is supposed to suck but it seems that this one in particular goes out of it's way to make your life hell. I hope this helps for anyone looking to get a idea of what they are walking into.

Personal Charm
Horrible experience very incompetent employees. I had tissue in my mouth (yes sounds weird) but I was tending to my lips because they were chapped and bleeding so when the C.O said spit it out in the trash, another C.O came in the bathroom took it out the trash and said" no this isn't tissue this is crack". I said no it isn't it's wet chewed tissue. They called like 10 C.O and said oh well you can't have a visit today. So then someone suspended my visiting privileges. I did nothing wrong. Anyone know where I can complain to.There is no way wet tissue looks like crack.

Absolutely rediculus I was sentenced to time served when I returned to the prison they wouldn't release me because my counselor said my bail was reinstated of anyone knows how bail works you would know once you are sentenced there's no longer any type of bail because sentensing is over. It took them a week to realize there mistake I know a week sounds short but not there there a week is forever. I was 140lbs when I left that prison now im 180lbs needless to say I had to live off the trays of rather go up state than go back

If your family member is there, they are being treated unfairly and their rights are being stripped away. I recommend state prison or suicide.

Estimating Department
This facility need an extreme over haul . The guards lack training in many departments . Degrading , disrespecting , down cutting is a regular activity that takes place . As if it was part of the job ,The guards will express personal feelings and use their position to enforce them as rules . Abuse of power to the highest level . Many of them use harsh curse words and over all abusive tone when speaking to and about inmates . Others for what ever reason even take it upon themselves to threaten bodily harm . When the situation does not require this type of action . Simply because there is over all theme of because of your current situation I have power over you and I will display it in many forms . Regardless of the fact that as an inmate you have rights and the law requires inmates to be free of cruel or unusual treatment / harassment sexual or other wise . There is a serious problem here many things that are taking place lack moral reguard and some are illegal .
