... short walk from Holborn station, gents toilet is on the the first floor, ladies and disabled toilet on ground level. there is also a drinking water dispenser. the seats are plastic but they provide cushion if needed. there is also upper level seating. the concert hall has reasonably good acoustics. we watched a quartet and the sound from the instruments can be heard even at the end of the hall - beautiful and accurate.

Prices are reasonable for tickets and drinks and they attract wonderful talent but the seats are atrocious. They were like school seats for five year-olds, plastic, hard and very uncomfortable. We went to the balcony after intermission because those seats looked cushioned and more comfortable but they were dreadfully old, ripped and some were sloped/broken.

A long-established ethical organisation headquartered in this 1920's Art-Deco-ish building promoting and hosting lectures, talks, exhibitions, workshops, live music and a library. The renowned 'Sunday Concert' music recitals are varied, unfussy and set in a hall with surprisingly excellent acoustics. An exemplar - here there's much to admire and absorb.

A kind of shabby building (but don't let that put you off), run by the Conway Hall Ethical Society, and providing facilities for a variety of different groups. As I understand it, the place was originally set up as somewhere for free spirits and radical thinkers to express their opinions. I've been to a few of their events, which sounded interesting, and always delivered what they promised. However, the ticket prices for a talk seem a little bit expensive to me. There is also a large hall, which holds regular recitals and musical activities, along with singing activities not based around a religious theme.

Watched Real Rock Film Festival here. A nice venue with a bar and everything you'd expect

A strangely old fashioned building reminiscent of parish halls in the provinces. It is much larger than that though. It is run by the south place ethical society and provides a venue for all sorts of groups of people to hold meetings, conferences etc also big enough for dancing. Different room sizes are available and there is a larger hall with a gallery. There is a great library on the first floor which is open to the public on certain weekdays but not at the weekend covering subjects such as. economic politics philosophy etc

I love the Sunday concerts at this uniquely old-fashioned place. However the heating is very inadequate in cold weather. It was zero degrees outside and the radiators upstairs (at least) weren't even switched on. Some people sat with their gloves and woolly hats on and/or scarves around their faces.

An excellent venue often overlooked. I'd certainly overlooked it anyway until I went here for the International Alternative Publishers fair the other weekend. It's got a respectably sized main hall with several rooms off to the side of varying size. It's an old hall with lots of character. There are regular events and music recitals here, so well worth a look.

An unusual venue in central london, inside there appears to be lots of different rooms, a humanist library and a big hall. I recently went to see burlesque in this venue, but I'm not sure the venue suited the genre. We were sat in the balcony which provided us a good view of the stage. There were lots of seats available, but it lacked the atmosphere of a burlesque venue and felt like I was sat in a village hall. This wasn't helped by the fact that not all the seats were taken upstairs. It did feel a bit clinical and with a makeshift bar and concessions stand in the entrance. I'm not sure what it was like to be downstairs, but I did notice that they had to sit on uncomfortable looking plastic chairs. Whereas the seats in the balcony were cushioned. Definitely would be a good venue for a lecture or something else but not quite for burlesque.

Have been here a number of times for the School for Creative Startups from 2012 to 2013. The nice big hall is a great space for presentations and talks and for students to work in groups. It is a lovely old building which is kept very clean and also can be used as a party venue.

Attended quite a few Action for Happiness events here and they've always been great. The hall is quite homely - reminds you of an old school hall. Good number of seats with people able to sit both on the balconies too.

It is a really nice intimate environment and is very good for concerts and stuff. Very warm staff and surprisingly is bigger than it seems from outside. Recommended for concerts or musical recitals.

Lots of interesting talks here, especially those of a Humanist leaning. Good acoustics and a quite high stage ensures a decent view from most seating locations.

A little tatty and old fashioned but thank goodness places like this still exist to serve the community and offer a good value place to host events.

The venue for Sunday Assembly London, it's in a great location in central London. The main hall can seat a large audience but the acoustics let it down slightly as it's got a bit of a reverb.

Where would lefties and peaceniks be without the Conway Hall! Traditionally one of THE London venues to hold your slightly left-field event. Looking its age now, but aren't we all. Associated with many famous bods, and on the edge of the Clerkenwell/Farringdon socialist areas. Quite rightly situated in Red Lion Square. Good toilets.
