My experience at Formula One Autocentres on Abbey Lane Leicester was great or so I thought how wrong could I be...……..I recently had an MOT as I was recommended by a friend, when I went to drop my car in the staff were really helpful and kind. After my MOT was completed I was advised that it had failed and had a number of issues wrong with the car that were put down as dangerous defects/major defects. After receiving a quote of £464.45 to complete the repairs required I decided to have a look around for some other quotes as I don't know a lot about cars. I spoke to a friend of mine that works for a car parts company and they got me the parts I required for a fraction of the price and I was recommended to use a garage in Wigston to fit the items required, when I went to collect my car from the repair garage I was advised that neither my front or back brake disc/pads actually needed to be replaced I then contacted Formula one and advised them what I was told (I was extremely annoyed) I spoke to the manager Joe who advised me to take the old brake disc/pads back for him to look at them, I have been to the store 3 times now and conveniently Joe has not been around. I will be taking this to VOSA as after reading other reviews on here it seems like there is a trend of incidents like this and people like myself who do not have any understanding of cars are being ripped off and charged for items that are not required.

Had an MOT and was very nervous. It failed because of the front headlights but the issue was fixed very quickly and they didn’t charge me any extra. They said as a regular customer they valued my custom. Excellent service as always and would never think of going elsewhere. Thank you for making my previous service and this MOT so easy

Was very happy with the service, called after 10 on a Sunday for a new exhaust on my mini, after serval places told me they don’t do them on a Sunday f1 said no problem. Took my car down, had to wait a while but it was a very busy Sunday which I take as credit to their company and service, but didn’t mind because I got a whole new exhaust, waited in a nice waiting room and got a great price! Will use them again, 10/10

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!! Worst experience with an auto service ever, 3 hour wait to get tyres fitted??? Understand it may be busy but 3 HOURS?! Miserable staff that look like they are not even working, most the time just dossing. Oh and if you do go here be sure to check every 10 minutes if your car is done. Mine was done "30 mins ago" apparently and they didnt even have the audacity to tell me. Will not be going here again in my life and will not recommend to anyone. Please read all the reviews on this page, I would pay double the price I paid to go somewhere else.

Got my Service and MOT done and was happy with the price I paid online and left my car at 8:30 AM but in afternoon around 2 PM got a call that they did not found anything wrong with the car but 1 Front and both back wheels needs toe adjustment and will cost me additional £72 and was told to collect the car in next half an hour. I think they already knew that I will agree with the additional work and may have already done the work or were already in the process of doing the work as when I reached to collect the car it was ready outside to be collected. But overall satisfied with the service and price I paid but nothing extraordinary.

I had concerns my cars RPM’s were too high when idling and went in to check this. Gentleman came out and checked it immediately and gave an honest assessment saying there was no problems. Fantastic service and I will definitely be booking my 6 and 12 month services with them.

I took my car here recently for an mot. I couldn't afford a service beforehand and came here because it was the cheapest place I could find (against the advice of my dad). And also, I had only done two thousand miles since the last mot and service. I was very surprised when my car failed on two major issues. I was told my car had a major leak on the rear shock absorber and another major fault with the breaks. The garage told me not to drive the car, other than to get home. And gave me a quote of £160 to get it all fixed. I was very sceptical so I decided to get a second opinion. The second mechanic found absolutely nothing wrong with my car, and it sailed through its mot with no advisories. I would advise everyone else to stay well clear, unless you want to pay for work that doesn't need doing.

Had 4 tyres fitted & balanced, perfect....... But then they told us the brakes were right down past the safe legal limit........... Big mistake! The car had just been serviced & MOT'd the day before at the VW dealer just up the road. Would've given them 5 stars if they hadn't lied to us, but unfortunately you have to give at least one star to leave a comment else it'd be none

Used this auto centre a few times, always had fantastic service, my car has always been ready on time, I found the staff very friendly, and always willing to help, even with the smallest of things. I will certainly recommend them to anyone who needs car repairs to a high standard. I have found them to be reasonably priced too.

Alot of individual consideration, family feel and exceptionally mannered and helpful staff, especially Slav the mechanic who went through all the minute details in dealing with repair required. Kudos to the managerial staff. Great overall aura. Cannot recommend F1 in general enough! I always prefer them over competitors. Used them for full servicing 3 times.

If you need your car repaired or a service give these folks ago. They are very friendly and courteous and do everything they can to help. I have been using them for years and would no longer go anywhere else. There prices are very good and they never say you need work doing when you don't. Very very highly recommend. :)

I've been to F1 a couple of times now and they have always been great! They are always busy so it can take a while to get to your car if you have not booked in online. They waiting area is comfortable with magazines, tv and refreshment vending machines and has a full view over the workshop floor.

Poor customer service. Arrived as they opened. Handed my keys to the reception for two tyres to be fitted. Told to take a seat whilst ot was done. An hour later I went back to the desk to see when it was being done as several people had been in and out in that time. Receptionist unaware that ot hadnt been done and said it would be 20 mins. 45 mins later it was completed and I was offered a wheel realignment free but as my car didnt require that it was a complete waste of time. I would never use them again. If I hadn't paid in advance I would have walked out.

After careful research and reading a lot of reviews around Formula One garage in Leicester, I decided to give it a go, despite many negative (?genuine?) feedbacks were also found. I must admit I was quite pleased with services I have received! Booking appointment slot and services needed- no problems, dead easy to navigate and book on their web site. Price was very acceptable too and I can only hope that all services were done as described as I have no means of checking upon it. However, I could say that 4 wheel alignement has been done at its best, car goes how it should be - straight and brakes evenly. A bit of advise tho, query and make sure that ALL what you wanted has been done before leaving. So far so good, so i would recommend these guys

I bought 4 new tyres at a good price, had the wheels balanced ( as standard) and the wheels laser tracked. A couple of days later the steering wheel started shaking at about 65 mph. I phoned up Formula 1 and they couldn’t have been more helpful. The car went in the following day and a missing weight replaced.

Got 4 tyres from here. Two of the tyres sold to me were 8 years old, but were still sold 'as new.' I did not know this until I had problems with these tyres and checked the DOT codes. Contacted Bridgestone who said they only warranty their tyres for 5 years on the shelf. Contacted Formula One, customer service, Jack, was great. I had my original invoice. Joe at the garage however was very dismissive and continued to insinuate some type of fraud on my part. Area Manager was rubbish also, he was calm but offered me NOTHING. In fact he also questioned me like a criminal. Absolved responsibility completely. Was due to pursue this through the Sale of Goods Act 1979 through small claims - Moving on, focused my energy else where. I wonder if these guys know what karmic retribution is? RIP OFF MERCHANTS. STEER CLEAR! And check your DOT codes.

I booked my master service and MOT for a Saturday morning. No specific time given to drop off the car, so arrived at the Abbey Lane Centre, Leicester around 11.00am after watching England lose 32-12 to South Africa in the Rugby World Cup final in Japan. I was told by the Customer Service guy that I was late, "your car cannot be serviced today, you either have to rebook or you can leave your car and we will do it tomorrow". I decided to leave the car, hoping to collect it before close of business the following. Protesting that I had not been given any specific time to drop off my was just a pointless exercise in futility. At that place the customer is not King. You can go somewhere else and they will probably not be bothered. Come Sunday morning, i received a call around 10.00am and was informed that the service was complete but my car had failed the MOT. If I wanted to have the car fixed and pass the MOT they were willing to order the part from their supplier who had the part and could deliver same day. The part and labour would cost a staggering £256.00 on top of the £183.00 charged for the Master Service and MOT. I agreed to this and asked them to call me as soon as the car was ready for collection. Arounnd 3.00pm or thereabouts, I got a call informing me that the supplier had delivered the wrong part and therefore my car would not be ready for collection. I protested that I really needed the car as I work outside the city. I asked them if they would provide a courtesy cara and they said no. I asked if they were going to pay for my taxi fare or train ticket and said no. I said to them they are leaving me with no choice but to sue them. I was told that there is nothing I can do because the car has failed MOT and should not be on the road anyway. I said that its better to resolve our case in court as I feel that my consumer rights and contractual obligations had been breeched several times. I later on got a call back asking me to come and collect my car, and if I wanted them to continue with the repair and MOT I can bring the car back anytime during the week or over the following weekend (at any time, as long as its not later than 30 minutes before close of business) and they would only charge me for the cost of the part because of the incovinience they had caused me. I accepted the offer but sadly when I took my car for the repair and MOT I was not given the discount as promised. In fact, I was told that they do not give such discounts and whoever had said that "should not have promised that". I really feel mugged and disrespected by Formula One. I have no reason to want to do business with them again and will not be recommending them to anyone. Still fuming.

I took my car for a full service and a coil replacement as the engine management light came on my way down. I paid at extra £50 for upgraded oil and brake fluid. I got the car back and there was a ratting noise coming from the dash board that wasn't there before so I took it back. The guy looked under the bonnet and the covering hadn't been put back properly, there were 3 screws missing which they failed to replace, instead just left it!! Also, he said they would have had to remove a certain covering to replace the brake fluid, however there were a load of dried leaves which where on top of it which make me think they didn't even replace the brake fluid else they would have be removed when topping up! However I will never know if this is the case. I would have expected to notice a difference after spending £200 on a service so I'm not convinced everything was carried out it should have been. They also stated they couldn't turn the service light off whilst the light for new brake discs and pads where on and said I needed to take it back to them once done and they would turn it off, again I don't know if this is the case or if they could have turned it off. Oh and they didn't stamp my book!!! I wasn't happy I had to return because they couldn't put something back properly, in fact it still makes a noise now. I got another garage to turn the service light off and I'm very annoyed they haven't stamped my book, but refuse to go back again so the receipt will have the do! I will not be returning.

I booked and payed for two tyres online and went for an AM fitting i noticed after about 30 mins they had took car in and were fitting tyres then car was just sat in workshop nothing happening. So i asked at desk how long before it was done as they were busy. The service manager asked somebody what was going on and the guy working on it was waiting for a ramp to be free and gone to do something else. They told him to leave that and get my job finished as i had been waiting a while. They had to do a wheel alignment check. When they had done they said won't charge u for wheel alignment adjustment as they had messed me about very fair i thought .

All the people I dealt with were polite and welcoming despite being very busy. The waiting room was clean and spacious. I will definitely be using them again in the future.

Good service. The employees are friendly and relaxed enough to engage in banter, also polite and informative when it matters. They also offered to beat any legitimate quote. Left my car with them and my phone number as requested and the work was completed. The part was rattling against something so took it back and they were happy to correct the issue (after market part had a bracket in the wrong place). The only thing I was left wanting for was a phone call after the work was completed (on each occasion) to say the car was ready for collection. I ended up calling after work but was unable to get through initialy due to it being a busy time of day. As a result I did have to start thinking about how to get home without my car. Turned out the car was ready each time but would have appreciated not being left wondering.

Booked the car in for 4 fresh tyres online and picked the morning slot. arrived around 10.20 and handed over the keys, I asked roughly how long it would take because i had work at midday, was assured 30 to 45 mins which was fine. 11.30 I went to check and noticed my car had been left on the street with the window wide open, that's the first thing that annoyed me. I was further annoyed when I'd seen the car hadn't even been started! I spoke to a guy on reception who apologized and and told me it would be started immediately... 45 minutes later and I'm still waiting and noticed the kid working on it has only done 1 tyre???. The guy I spoke to at reception who I assume is the manager can see I'm not happy and comes over and apologies again and mentions he's had a word and about how long its taking. end It was just gone 1pm - 2h 45m when the car was done. By this time I was already an hour late for work and still had to commute. The manager apologises again, i understand it not his fault but unfortunately apologies don't pay the bills, I wasn't offered any kind of compensation either, If I hadn't payed in advance I would have just refused to pay for fitting. Please sort it out, totally unacceptable. Now I'm having to spend an extra 2 hours at work on a Friday night to make up for lost hours!

Took my car down to them to take a look at my air conditioning. Which they had previously done for me they did a health check and gas top up middle to end of last year. And all was well. Tried it on Wednesday and No cold air. Bare in mind it a black car. And an alfa ! The manager was very helpful in telling me you need to keep flicking it on every few weeks or it can stop working. Then took the car in side and sorted it in 25min. No charge. I use this company all the time for tyres. Always good on price. Very happy to recommend this place to all.. Guys keep up the good work .. thanks again Gavin.

Did MOT and minor service here last Thursday booked online the previous week. When arrived with the car the staff seemed polite enough to deal with the car. However I have said this before and say it again when the work has been finished I never get a phone call to say all work has been done. I had to make the call to find out what's happening and this is one area formula 1 need to improve on. I know they are busy but surely it doesn't take long to make a call and if I don't pick up the phone at least leave a message on the answer phone to say the car is done. Also I was not too happy with the car failing it's MOT on the windscreen wipers as it seems to me the wipers clear the windscreen fine. Even more I was not happy with how much I had to pay for new front wiper blades, £24! I could of fitted new ones myself for much less cost.

Prompt polite and professional. My exhaust issue dealt with at short notice on a Monday morning. I was dealt with courteously on arrival and shown to a clean quiet waiting area. Whilst waiting for my car to be done I observed other customers be served equally politely. They were a pleasure to deal with and I recommend them to anyone.

I booked on line to have two tyres fitted and wheels balanced and tracking adjusted. All carried out with the minimum of fuss. Staff were helpful and informative. The only negative aspect of my visit was the online appointment which would only refine to am or pm, meaning that it was an hour before work could be started on my vehicle. If you find yourself in a similar position at F1 on Abbey Lane you could do worse than visit the Abbey Pumping Works next to the Space Centre.

Very polite, car failed massively but they didn't pressure me into repairs and were very clear about the faults! They fixed my rear breaks by taking them out and cleaning them, fixed my wiring and a few bulbs for free.. and are still happy to complete the other works. Fantastic customer service
