No charge to go in. It's a working campus with an open public area in the centre. Try out the acoustics in the middle under the centre of the dome I was convinced it was a microphone amp and speakers but it's purely the acoustic effects! Careful what say as it can be heard a long distance away!

Interesting building originally I believe it was a hospital. We did have food that is catered by students as part of their hospitality training cooks waiters etc Clean and standards were high It is worth visiting the building

Incredible piece of architecture. Seems to be open to the public, myself and my partner walked in and took a look around. Seems to be part of Derby University with a library and several class rooms. The center of the dome does house a Cafe, however it was closed during our visit.

It's a Victorian architectural engineering marvel, which must be seen to be appreciated. Normally it's part of Derbyshire University campus, but periodically, it's open to the public for exhibitions.

feels a bit strange going in as the building is now a university but it's interesting to learn about it's history and change of use over the decades and the dome is huge!

The Devonshire Dome is a truly remarkable building!... The Dome is architecturally stunning and with its 44-column, 145ft diameter colonnade supporting the 560 ton roof, it is one of Buxton’s most famous landmarks. Built in the late 18th century as the Great Stables by the 5th Duke of Devonshire, it provided facilities for up to 120 horses and accommodation for the servants and ostlers accompanying visitors who were staying in the Crescent. Nearly a century after its construction, the building was converted to eventually become the Devonshire Royal Hospital. In 2001 the University of Derby acquired the building and the Dome is now a campus for both the University and Buxton College. The Dome offers a warm welcome to members of the public who would like to see this remarkable Grade II listed building...

Superb venue. Great Dome art & designer fair is well worth a visit. Small entry charge, this contributes to the running of the event as the artist's have to pay quite high fee for their display space. The quality of the arts and designs is amazing. Something for everyone. Cafe too. Only a few minutes walk from any of the car parks or the town.

In this McDonald's the staff are very kind, the WIFI is good, it's very clean, the food comes out fast to you even on the drive through. I ordered a big Mac, large fries and a coke. It is very good I rate the food and drinks 10/10 I don't have any complaints.

The Dome is located in Buxton just around the corner from the main shopping area. It is on a fairly steep hill, so a bit tricky for the not so Fleet of foot. Inside the dome is a beautiful area with a café and a large floor space. Toilets are located in a corridor on the outer rim of the dome, they are clean and functional. The Dome itself is a wonder of yesteryear engineering, cream teas are available in the afternoons and are a recommended must.

It is an impressive setting. The food preparation and service is to allow the students to gain experience of working in a catering set-up as part of their practical studies. The staff were very attentive and the food excellent. It is reasonably priced given the quality of the food and the location. The main course was a little slow in arriving, but we were informed of the delay and an apology was offered. We would certainly go back.

Its amazing how a building designed over a hundred ago become not only relevant but useful today. The design and its useulness was definitely way ahead of its time. It feels to me like an outdoor experience with no concern about whatever the weather says. I was here for a wedding reception party and it was awesome. It feels large (and it was large) and cosy which can be rare but in a good way. Very beautiful and elegant inside and you cant but appreciate its maintainance given its age

Absolute gem of a building set in the heart of the Peak District! It never ceases to take my breath away. The largest Dome in Europe steeped in history from horses to courses. Within there is a full commercial hair & beauty salon The Salon at the Dome, Spa, conference & banqueting and Cafe/fine dining too. Well worth a visit to explore????

Went here for an art festival, lovely building holding various events throughout the year. Parking is a bit difficult but not impossible. There is an on site cafe serving very reasonably priced tasty food and drinks. All accessible and disabled toilets available. The surrounding areas are also worth a look with shops and cafe's nearby.
