When I needed a certified translation of an official document done, it took several iterations to fix translation errors and spelling mistakes before we were reasonable happy with the result. It was clear from the drafts that the translator was not a native speaker of Japanese. A relatively cheap service, but disappointing results that would have been outright incorrect if it weren't for my intervention.

Unfortunately there were some spelling mistakes in the translation and they only got it to an acceptable standard after 2 iterations. I pointed out a few mistakes and I would have expected much more thorough proof reading considering the price paid but felt they out-sourced it to the client.
A client who does not speak the language a document was translated to would not have picked up on the errors made. Customer service can also be improved with better book keeping e.g. do not assign prjects by email but by name. I sent two docs from two different emails and it created a big confusion.

I recently used Rosetta Translation for a certified legal translation. I sent an initial request via the website and had an answer within 2 hours. They explained all the options and costs to me and were very helpful and patient even when sending a few emails back and forth with more questions (great response time by the way). Once I acknowledged the final quote and paid via the website, the work was carried out immediately.
The turnaround time was very quick (1 day vs. 2 days estimated) and the translation was solid and documents with certification were very professionally drafted. The costs were very reasonable compared to other companies that quoted me for the same job.
