I wanted to put an extra shelf in a my wardrobe I went to a well known DIY store who couldn't help they recommend Cornmeter. I have never been there before.
They were very helpful I explained what I was trying to do and they cut the wood for me and helped me get everything I needed and it was very cheap. I will be using them again for more DIY projects much to my husband's despair.

Have bought many items from Cornmeter over the years and once spent many hours looking through their large collection of fabrics for blinds. Truly excellent. Knowledgeable, courteous staff; orders arrived on time.

For anyone who wants or need advice guidance and support in all areas of home improvement and gardening this is very much the place to go. The staff can not be more helpful and will go above and beyond to make sure you are pointed in the best direction to achieve your goal. Is they don't have it in stock they will make sure you can order what ever is needed. You can ask advice about anything and you will be given a sensible no BS answer that is normally given with genuine interest and friendliness. The times that I have been to home base or BQ to get help and advice and have walked away either more confused than when I started or sent away with completely the wrong tools or accessories. This has never happened here. This is a proper Ironmongers. They have everything you thought you needed and quite a few things that you didn't know you needed until you saw them. I could not recommend this Ironmongers more. My grandfather has been using this shop for over 40 years and because of how they conduct their business with all of there customers they have another customer for the foreseeable future too.

Went a few weeks back and was given great advice on installing a table in my van, went back today to buy the recommended parts and ask for advice on building a unit for the van ( I had the plans just wanted them to check before cutting the wood). Didn't really want to see them, very dismissive and basically told to go get something from ikea.
Somewhat confused by the attitude I was certainly being friendly, needless to say I had to get both job parts sorted elsewhere.
Was singing their praises and the old fashioned Ironmongers up to this point.....

Cornmeter is one of those places that restores your faith in good service. Having used them a number of times in the past, I went to them with a very odd request relating to a very specific screw. Nothing was too much trouble. The gentleman working there found the screw diameter I needed and the proceeded to cut it down to the right length for me. And all with a smile. They knock spots off the big DIY stores - hooray for Cornmeter!

Went to return an item and they offered me store credit only. Items were unused and in original packaging and returned the following day with the receipt. There was no mention of their returns policy when I purchased the item and they pointed to their terms and conditions on the receipt - something they gave me after the sale! I brought this up with the manager and no resolution was offered. Shame, as it's my local DIY store, looks like I will go Dyas or Homebase nextime or somewhere else that actually cares about customers.
