Great to be back here again. Great instructors Yoga, swimming, and spin class in particular. Having this place open will help me in recuperating after bad health experience last year

The soft play area is bigger than the one at Streatham Leisure Centre. We were the first customers this morning and saw litter such as bags of snacks left out. Then I noticed a smell of poo in one corner and found small bits of something that looked like poo on the floor. It was also dusty there, so I wonder if they ever clean the place. My son still had fun, but I won’t come back again unless they clean the whole area thoroughly. I want to say that the actual soft play is good, but it’s a shame it’s so filthy and not kept nice and clean.

Great range of sports and facilities are in good condition, sadly the building itself is somewhat dated and has a very cold industrial feel

Great yoga classes, running machines facing the pool and a climbing wall that i've been dying to try for a long time. Part of one of the most vibrating sites of Brixton, next to the Pop Brixton(excellent) and to the local markets plus Brixton Village on the way. The gym is highly advisable for every single person that wishes to get fit both physically and mentally

I've just had my first swim under the new rules and it was great. Wide lanes and not too crowded. Takes a bit of getting used to with different arrangements in the changing areas. But it's worth the inconvenience to be able to get back in the pool. Brixton is also my favourite pool so thank you GLL for getting it ready. And really nice to see some regular faces around the place and poolside.

It could be a great gym but it really needs some work. Half of the machine don't work, lockers ,,, the same. pool big but it is so dirty. Body condition classes, for 4 years, the same music, the same exercises, It is so boring! They need a big work in the equipment and fresh air with the classes and monitors

The POOL IS EVERYTHING I would give it 5 stars if the cleaning was better managed.

I like this gym and the staff are great and very helpful however the toilets sometimes are a mess and I don't encounter this problem in Vauxhall or Streatham

Not the best venue for a spectator show. The bar was a single stand with queues going round to the back of the bleachers, the roof was leaking on a rainy day at various spots and was all the way up 5 flights of stairs. At least it was warm inside.

Everything past the main desk is great but the sales team are so unhelpful. False advertising- there are two 6ft posters, one by the pool and one up the top of the escalator - saying that there’s a membership for swimming with no joining fee or contract for £32.50 a month. I asked a member of staff about this and he didn’t believe me, so he asked me to prove it. I took him to the poster, he then back tracked and said it was old and it doesn’t count anymore - no where on the poster does it have an end date He then proceeded to take me down to the membership area and try and get me to sign up - first he said the joining fee was £15.50 then when he checked it had gone up to £25.50. The morning after I went back, the poster was still there even after they said they’d take it down. It’s just unfair to advertise something you don’t offer

We love the soft play. Really good value for £3.20 for under 5's and lots to entertain the kids. Call ahead at weekends as often birthday parties book this up.

Do you want a gym where equipment may or may not be working? Do you want a changing room where the floor is so filthy that it is permanently stained brown? Do you want a pool temperature that is either bathwater warm or hypothermia inducing cold with no in-between? Do you want a place where members of staff have very little interest in helping anyone, cleaning anything, ensuring the pool is safe, putting gym equipment back, generally doing their jobs? Do you want a gym where members feel entitled to pieces of equipment and spend 20 minutes not using them whilst on their phones? Do you want a set of lockers where you can only use half of them because the locks were due to be changed "in the New Year" but it never happened and now all the keys are missing? Do you want a pool where lane etiquette is so badly observed that you get punched inadvertently by someone swimming in the middle of a lane the wrong way? Do you want a pool where at peak evening hours there is only one lane open meaning very fast swimmers and very slow swimmers are fighting for space in the same lane and frustrating each other? Do you want a pool changing room that has air-con blasting in winter meaning you go from bathwater warm (or hypothermia cold) water to 5 degree air? Do you want toilets that are out of order or have pools of urine around the base of them at all time? If you have answered yes to ALL of these questions then this is the gym for you! Two stars because the facilities have the potential to actually be good and there are 3 members of staff (out of the 20-30?) who actually do their jobs in a friendly manner.

Used this location for a training event and so booked a room with some catering. It's easy to find but a little confusing to find the right part of the building. Food was of a good quality and th price was good value. It could do with a lick of paint but staff were friendly and helpful.

Took direct debit for gym membership day before lockdown, for the month ahead. Have since complained and asked for a refund as opposed to 'credit' uncomfortable coming to gym for shielding purposes. Have made it impossible to get the refund.

Really manky urban gym, with loads of broken equipment that takes an age to be fixed. If there was anything else closer I'd use that definitely. Staff are helpful but it really needs a bit more upkeep.

So sad to say that this place has deteriorated rapidly and desperately needs some funding. A few months ago I would have rated this a five star. It used to be one of my favourite 'Better' gyms to go to because all the facilities they offer are fantastic but recently standards have been poor. The pool can be excruciatingly cold because their boiler cannot cope and I don't know how this isn't a health and safety issue. They do still offer other good services, are always open and the staff are always very nice, I just wish it got the money and funding it deserved.

This recreation centre is in the heart of Brixton, even the outer walls have come to represent the diverse cultural flavours of the locals.

The facilities are decent. Since my last visit they have fixed the plumbing issues in gents by the pool. I think people need to cut them a little bit of slack. No it's not perfect but taking into consideration the large number of visitors, things are running fine and efforts are being made to maintain the centre. I've visited the centre 6 times now and I've never noticed anything out of the ordinary. I recommend people to visit and don't get put off by some of the bad reviews

I enjoy this gym staff are helpful and they have good equipment although it is often an issue that gear is not returned to the right place and there are not enough clips for all the machines. There are a variety of classes with very good instructors. I am retired and always attend off peak so not crowded. It would be good if clientele were a bit more thoughtful of others and wiped down equipment when finished.

I only use the Brixton Rec for squash and it's very good. 5 courts which you can easily book online 6-8pm book up soon after becoming available 5 days in advance. Occasionally the courts could do with a hoover and light bulb change but that's pretty standard on the London courts I've played

Super sports centre in the heart of Brixton. Variety of exercise classes, gym equipment, dance studios, meeting rooms, soft play for the kiddies, climbing wall, swimming pools, steam room...variety of sporting classes for kiddies and adults (football, fencing, gymnastics etc) and sport clubs. Birthday parties for the kiddies.

No hot/warm water in the showers for over 6 weeks now. I tried to talk to the managers many times and they always blamed it on the Lambeth council. Whatever the reason is, it is unbelievable how a technical problem cannot be dealt with for such a long time. PS: we also had the same problem last year, but only in changing room showers, the pool-side showers were working fine by then. Escalator is also broken for ages. Management is probably thinking that it will start working by itself as they are literally doing nothing about it. And the hygienic problems we have: Water is constantly dripping for months now from a few different pipes in the small gym area with green flooring. I seriously doubt that it is clean water as the structure on the ceiling seems like the drainage part of a toilet. Again, nobody cares to deal with it. Even if it is clean water, I would never want to look under that wet part of the flooring, which already started changing colour due to mould. It seems to me that anything that gets broken in the facility is left as it is and soon nothing will be operational. Or perhaps the management or council is just after that, so that they can close the centre and go for a big refurbishment. I would say the only thing good about the facility is its members, nice people.
