AVOID. Worst Experience for 11+ Preparation in 2020. Issues: 1. Only 2-3 good teachers, rest below average 2. Very difficult to get a slot with good teacher 3. Remote learning has made their 2-3 good teachers even not good enough 4. Conceptually faulty as the teacher leaves everything to Teacher Assistants who are young students themselves 5. No teaching of content, just loads of books to do by oneself. There is absolutely little to no learning 6. Expensive and inflexible 7. Non-refundable registration fees so even if you leave them with proper notice they dont refund the registration fees 8. No point of going on "Waiting list as you will not get a slot with your preferred teacher. Also they dont put on Waiting list until you have paid registration fees and joined with one of their below average teachers

These people are day light robbers, tuition is done by children for very expensive price avoid. I spent a lot of money with these people and my child did not pass. It was a mistake and should have paid for one to one tuition rather than have my child being tutored by children who are not really interested in giving tuition. Why is a tuition centre using child labour rather then using qualified tutors.

Classes sizes are big, prices are high but they do provide you good materials to study. They get sufficient amount of homework. If your child is middle or high ability and just need little guidance to pass 11+ then it’s a good place for them however if you think your child struggle a lot in study 1:1 tuition or smaller size class will be helpful for them not ae

Great books I think the best books so far for preparing for entrance exams! And quality teaching plus mock exams are of great help.

It's too expensive and the teachers aren't that pleasant... If you have money to spend then maybe then come here. Most of teachers are still in school themselves, so why is the tuition so expensive if that's the case? I spoke to one of them and didn't have a teaching qualification, I'm not too bothered about this but the prices should reflect this. Instead of spending all that money for a group session I could spend the same amount and just get a 1 to 1 tutor (who is supportive and encouraging). I don't feel this model is right

I took my son off because this place does not give individual focus to kids, for the cost same as a 1-1 tutor sessions, for bearly 2 hrs of class?. The main problem I find is tutors and the assistants are doing 'mechanised' mode of teaching. While it may work for some kids, I personally feel that it is not the way to go forward for my son, also in general tuitions should be focused at smaller group of individuals, rather than masses of 25 kids in bulk. The only positive I can write is, their building premises at Langley are very good (though people haphazardly do crowded stopping & parking) . Also I personally feel this business model is not sustainable long term, because the whole grammar school model will change soon in my view. However, they may still have a 'location' advantage.

Our older son passed his entrance exam thanks to the excellent coaching. Our younger son is well on the way. Unreservedly recommended, very experienced, professional and helpful. 'The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary!' Addendum: Our younger son also passed his entry exam and received offers from two Grammar Schools. Sincere thanks to all at AE for their excellent system. Yes it is work, but the exams do not pass themselves without hard work and yes, parents are encouraged/expected to mark the children's homework (The answers are in the back of the book and can be removed!). The lessons are from well qualified staff and the tutorials are sometimes from undergraduates, who, let's face it, are quite capable of explaining to 10 and 11 year old children what they need to know. Looking at some comments, if you think education is expensive, try ignorance instead! Alternatively there are many independent schools who only require the fees and that is the main 'Entry Test'. You will find many of them outside the 'top 200' in the Secondary League Tables. Some children have talents which are less academic and more practical -that does not make them any less successful later in life and vice versa.

Excellent place for a gramma school preparation. Unlike most of the schools in this contry, they really teach. The class work is challenging and they give at least one hour a day of homework, which is checked every week. Lots of tests and practice. This is a real tuition centre if you want your child to study hard. Teachers are strict but also have sence of humour, sometimes joke and create friendly atmosphere, when maintaining the study process. This is a very intensive study place, not for those who want just 'a bit more' than the ordinary schools give.

I just started my daughter in year 4 and do feel there is a lot of homework .The teacher seems good but the class sizes is 22 .I would prefer when paying such a high price to have a smaller class size. The resources and material are good but it's a challenge for working parents to pay so much for tuition and have to correct massive amounts of homework as well. It's already a challenge to get them to do it ! They should have had their teaching assistants to do it.Finally other than difficulty getting parking at Langley where we are travelling long distance to be there, they could at least have an automatic vending machine for tea /coffee - snacks .When I went there , I realised there's no coffee shop and had to wait for 2 hours - ended up sitting in the car the whole time.Improve your service please and do think of the tired parents bringing their kids and having to wait there till they finish.Pl also consider smaller classes. I'm not happy with 22 in the class.

Excellent tution centre , my daughter started with no knowledge & I can see her levels have been boosted so much. She has learnt a lot new things which has never been taught at her school. During a mock test , when Jackie discussed about my child report, after starting working with her - we could see the results have improved. Over all - I would rate 10/10. We get a chance to enter the class and see the live class at last 30 minutes and can see her report every week too. Big thanks to Jackie for helping us in this journey of learning.

Sorry to say but I’m shocked . My experience with Langley centre was pathetic . Teacher was so rude and have a guts to tell in front of a child that he’s incapable to make it to grammar school as he scored only 70% and not 90% in his assessment. I never knew a teacher can be so demoralising . Rather than encouraging him to practice more she told not to aim for grammar schools. They are just a money makers they need to learn first than should try teaching innocent kids.

Very expensive (£3k for a year 11+) for what it is. Most 'tutoring' is done by young students with an hour or so teaching done by the teacher. Lots of focus on tests instead of teaching. If you feel your child isnt progressing after 3 months think about getting 1to1 tuition as a replacement.

AE is good only for 11+, I really regret sending my son to AE for year 8 & 9. The 3 Science were rushed at such a speed in 3 months , Maths teacher was not sure of her answers were, the children sitting at the back were not bother to write what she was teacher, no discipline etc.... High price but zero value of money. Would not recommend for yr 8 & 9.

AWFUL SERVICE! If there was an option for 0 stars I would give them 0. The "teachers" at both their centres in slough and Langley are actually ALL students studying a levels or at university with no formal teaching qualifications. Tuition should be along side school to reinforce a child's learning but on top of the endless hours parents work to fund the horrendous fees AE charge they are accepted to put additional hours in with the children everyday to help with their homework. What's the point of going to tuition then? Classes of 30+ with unqualified students teaching. Stay away!

Expensive (3k a year) for what it is, used for daughter 11+ tution. Very focused on lots of tests and very little in the way of actual teaching. Most work done by students rather than actual teacher.

Terrible place. I went there the teacher wasted so much time fighting with a parent just because a kid hasn’t got his books. Then she blames the class for wasting time. The class just looked back and forth. That boy is just a kid. Think before you put your child in AE.

Rubbish overcrowded ripoff designed deliberately too mislead the public... Wake up people. Time to start questioning creditonals and RELEVANT teaching qualifications not Engineers or Student Tutors pretending to be Qualified Tutors managing Minors. The one time I made the mistake of sending my children and believe you me I counted there were 42 minors to 1 a ratio of 42:1 so called qualified adults...Shocking!! Doubt that’s even legal. Imagine what would happen in a Fire or some other Health and Safety issue... PLEASE AVOID!!!

It is so annoying. Nobody is trained and they make my children sit in silence. The assistants are very rude to them and they have criticised my children's work because their story was no real enough. That is imagination!!! I wish I could give them a 0

staff at the tuition centre extremely rude to parents. There is no parking facility near the centre. Parents are travelling long distances to get to tuition. when they reach the premesis, they have to struggle for parking. Parents have to mark their children's work everyday. not every parent is well qualified to mark the work. parents feel they don't have a say with regards to their child's progress. Never going back there for my second child. their publications are very good. Buy and do it at home if you can.

Just don't listen to other people's reviews.Their service is excellent I have never seen a tuition like it! The staff are trained and aren't dumb like the woman complaining. I would totally recommend!

Please parents - please, Know your kids capabilites before blindly sending them to a tuition factory like AE. AE tuition is just a "mental factory" that prepares kids for exams. Nothing more nothing else. Some kids take it and some do not - and they are constantly under pressure to perform, both at tuition centre and at home. Their homework schedule is a stress-joke designed for AE's own profit motives and number crunching, to show 'results'. AE are capitalising on a huge UK educational cultural paradigm with a certain section of the society/community to churn revenue.... I really wish these parents (due to peer pressure) who sent their kids showed some sense rather than this educational-grammar-school-system paranoia. The parents of 2000s are blindly copying what their successors who came to UK did in the 80s to suppress their culturally-embedded fears about "educational future" and the schools for their kids.
