Big shout out to Amy Parris, who helped me through a very protracted and difficult sale involving leasehold. Covid happened right in the middle, so it was really tricky from the start.
Amy was so professional and good at communicating, and I felt she was personally invested in getting the sale through. She kept in contact and was very understanding about the stressful process.
MW are also dealing with the purchase side of things, so hopefully that will be a bit smoother!!!

A bad experience and would steer clear.
They originally price matched another solicitor for my house purchase and because they were recommended by my estate agent I agreed to go with them. I regret doing this for a number of reasons.
Firstly despite the fact they price matched the other solicitor (£1,600) they ended up invoicing me close of business, on the last working day of the week when my completion date was that Monday. The invoice was for more than £3,000 and gave no explanation as to why it was so much more than my original price matched quote. The office shut without answering all my concerns leading me with no choice but to pay the money as I didn't want to be penalized for not completing on the house in time.
I felt this was completely unprofessional and caused a lot of stress.
When I said I was unhappy about this, Neil's assistant said "I'm sorry you feel this way about the situation" rather than just admitting that this was bad practice.
They admitted to making a mistake with the invoice and deducted about £700. (Imagine if I had been vulnerable or not on the ball!!) But still the amount to pay was over £2300 in total (more than £700 more than the original quote). My two good friends who have both moved house in the past year paid not a penny over their original quote so I am annoyed about the lack of transparency with this firm. I would understand an increase in cost if I was updated and it was explained along the way, but I only spoke to Neil about two times during the whole 4 month process and not once was anything mentioned about additional costs, and in the end he explained a lot of the extra costs came up "rather late in the day" and there were clauses in the contract to cover this and so they didn't inform me until the final invoice was produced...
Communication was probably the key issue in this. There were quite a few people involved (Neil seems to delegate a lot of the work to his team) which leads to confusion and mistakes. For example one of the few times I emailed Neil with a question about the share of freehold I got no response whatsoever, so I had to call him directly to follow this up...
All in all I wouldn't use them again nor recommend.

Great job by Neil, Rachel, Lucy and the team on a recent buy to let purchase. The conveyancing was efficient and I was always kept informed of what was happening. However, the mortgage offer was very slow to arrive after a down valuation and some renegotiation with the vendor. When the offer finally arrived we had very little time before the 31st March stamp duty deadline.
Rachel promptly sent me the report. To give me the maximum chance of completing before the stamp duty deadline, Neil suggested a simultaneous exchange and completion on the 31st March and got the vendor's solicitor to agree to this. The lender said that they would transfer the money in time but it was a concern that it had not been received on the morning of the 31st.
Neil's team got onto the lender's completions manager to ensure that they had all that they needed and persistently chased them. The funds arrived very late in the day and the team kindly worked after hours on this busy day and got the deal completed. A big thank you to all of them!

We asked Anne-Marie if she would manage to exchange contracts in 12 days. Anne-Marie assured us she had achieved this in the past and would do her utmost for us.
Anne-Marie actually achieved the exchange of contracts in 10 days without cutting any corners. Anne-Marie is a quiet, confident, and pleasant person to deal with and we cannot speak too highly of her and her team who were always ready and willing to take our calls at any time.

Inefficient & careless handling of our house purchase. This firm couldn't be bothered to complete on our post sale documents in a professional manner & 7 months later they gave differing accounts as to why. Confidential papers were at that point sent to an unknown 3rd party. Their incompetence has caused us a massive headache and I'd like to warn potential customers to avoid MW Solicitors at all costs.
