I've just rented a studio flat with Hunters, and I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and efficient the whole process was. I would definitely recommend them as they made the whole moving process stress free. Some estate agents could learn a few things from them in terms of customer service and efficiency. Good job!

I rented a property through them about 3 years ago, at that time they were known as Westgate, looks like they did a whole revamp of the place. I left a 1 star review about 2 years ago, explaining how their fees were ridiculous and they weren't that helpful given the fee I bloody paid. I got call from somebody at Westgate agency not too long ago, asking aggressively why I left such a poor review and what exactly was the issue. Thought that was very unprofessional and rude to call me at my workplace, I don't even know how they got hold of my phone number as I changed it when I moved out. Poor communication skills and hopefully this new rebirth of theirs will be better.

Horrible experience. We arranged a view and it was confirmed via email. I appeared on date and time and I after 25 min past the scheduled time, in the rain, I called them and they said that the property had been rented already. They said they tried to call me once with no success. And that's it, they didn't sent a message or email or anything. They got what they wanted, so, who cares...
In 2020, no excuses for lack of communication.

Hunters Lettings (Reading) are simply exceptional. We were searching for a property few months back when we came across Anish from Hunters Lettings. Reaching out to him was very easy and Anish was very responsive to us. We had a quick visit and as we finalized the deal Anish got all the paperwork (electronically) done very quickly and hassle free. Even now, after we have moved in to the property, Anish has-been very responsive to any of our query.
The hassle free negotiations earlier and very responsive query resolution makes Hunters Lettings my preffered choice for lettings agents in Reading.

Please avoid at all costs. This company will exploit the likes of students in particular and were rude, patronising and never replied to emails about problems with the property. We had builders come in unannounced with their own keys at times we were all out which left us very unsettled. They would make noise up until midnight and when we raised this issue it was batted aside like every other issue we had. When it came to checking out we were charged ridiculous amounts of money (£600 for blue tack being used on the wall) and when we requested invoices they weren't provided so in the end we just gave up and took what little we could of our deposit back. Again if you are a student in particular please avoid this company and look elsewhere to save yourself the hassle and grief I had to go through.

I have been using previously known as (Westgate) for the last 7 years for renting out all my properties. I have mainly used them for let only however whenever I need any information or guidance, they have gone out of their way to help. Mr Shukla the director of the company one could not find a nicer guy he goes that extra mile to help which has also filtered down to his staff who have also taken on that professional friendly approach which makes one feel very comfortable. It is very unlikely that I will use anyone else because I know I wouldn’t get the same sort of understanding and services.

He was always helpful and responded quickly.Living in Botswana so far away from the UK we have peace of mind that our property is being looked after. My rental property was managed by Westgate for a year. From the beginning it was clear that Westgate were going to provide an extremely poorly run service, as the previous tenants informed us that they had huge problems with them (unfortunately this was after we had signed our contract).
Upon moving into the property, they agreed that the house needed repairs and the garden needed a professional gardener. However, much of this was never carried out. Upon exiting the property, Westgates check out inventory apportioned the blame for lack of repairs and gardening to us the tenants. Westgate also attempted to charge us for these costs.
Throughout the winter, It took two weeks for someone to even inspect a very dangerous leak to our roof, and we had to endure the rain coming into our kitchen and bedrooms for a prolonged period of time. This leak was eventually 'patched up' but not repaired fully and subsequently leaked again several times. This was clearly in breach of the contract.
Westgate advertise 'no administration fees' but I would advise anyone to carefully read their contract as they sneakily included a check out fee in this which was never reported verbally to us.
Their management of our property caused significant and unnecessary stress and anxiety throughout the year. The tenants that now rent the property appear to be having similar problems, which means that Westgate under performs consistently.
I would recommend anyone to steer clear of having your property managed by Westgate.
