I graduated from Makers Academy the 1st of August. I moved from Italy just to join the course and so far is the best decision I've ever made. The course was intense and challenging, you have to commit your 100% in order to gain something from it. Now I'm gonna start working as a Junior Developer in a big company in London, and honestly, six months ago I didn't think that this could have been possible. Makers Academy made it possible for me. I didn't have any coding experience before, just the right motivation and willing to do and to work hard.

I hated my job - I was miserable and I wanted to change my career. I knew I was interested in web development and happily I found the Makers Academy course. It took three months of hard work, but it was so much fun, I made a bunch of new friends and now (having graduated at the end of October) I'm working in a big digital company in London as a junior developer. It couldn't be better! Makers gets two hearty thumbs up from me and I recommend anyone interested in learning to code to check them out.

I graduated from Makers last Friday and am writing an updated review following my previous comments at 6 weeks. Suffice to say that nothing has changed. If anything, my feelings are even more positive than they were previously. Here's why: 1) Course Content The course is very dynamic and definitely covers content that is relevant/current and in line with industry developments. The cohort before ours had a slightly different curriculum to the one we followed and the cohort after us are have a different curriculum still which is testament to the fact that Makers are working very hard to ensure that their students are ahead of the game. 2) Coaches The coaching team is what really made my experience. Every single member of the team brings their own expertise, personality and professional background to the party. I have really enjoyed working with such an amazing bunch of people and have made some awesome new friends along the way. One of the valuable aspects of how the teaching team is structured is that there is now a mixture of highly experienced coders and former students. This works well because the guys who have been through the experience themselves can empathise with the situation in which students will inevitably find themselves. 3) Environment Honestly, it was very crowded due to the growing popularity of the course BUT this won't be an issue after this Friday as Makers will be moving to brand new premises with bags of additional space. 4) Who Is It For? The short answer is ANYONE with an interest in computer programming. I did not join Makers to get a job as a developer afterwards (although the majority of people definitely did). I am in the process of setting up my own tech business and wanted to further my understanding of the development process and the frameworks that are at my disposal. I definitely got more than enough value for this purpose and feel reasonably confident that I now have the knowledge to prototype my own product. 5) Added Value I came here to learn to code and my expectations were that I would learn this to some standard. In reality, I got a lot more out of the experience than I ever imagined I would. I learned a lot about myself (the good, the bad and the ugly) and crucially learned how to teach myself new technologies. I'm sure that I'll reflect back on this experience in years to come thinking that these are lessons that you can't put a price on!
