Thank you so much...for everything. Nobody wants to find themselves or a loved one needing hospice care, but Arthur Rank and their incredible team make it a caring, calming, supportive experience. Meeting patients often at their illest..and family's at their most anxious. The team go above and beyond to provide a level of care Ive not seen anywhere. My Dad was respected, and you felt almost cherished by the team, and Ive never been offered so much tea. Big thanks particularly to Rita who I wouldnt have coped during the nights without, and Anna and the team who were working the morning my Dad passed. They took so much of the burden of formalities from me, and gave me support that really held me up. You are ALL amazing and Ill never forget you and what you did for us...and what you continue to do for others. Ill always support you where I can ????

We only use the bistro which we feel is excellent value for money for the hot food it provides through the week and at weekends, the Sunday roast is excellent! We feel that if people were to be made aware of its presence than it could be quite profitable, or at least break even, which could help to lower the cost of running the charity. We know you are a little of the beaten track but feel it would be a shame to lose the facilities as there are very few places that provide such tasty food at such a reasonable price. We hope this is a valid point.

I eat at the Bistro very regularly since discovering it a few weeks ago, and have introduced family and friends. Incredibly good value for money and excellent food. Needs better publicity though - I went to a concert last week which was in aid of the hospice and a spokesman talked on stage about the facility, with no mention of the Bistro - a lost opportunity. Also went for lunch last Sunday and main entrance was closed and lobby in darkness - we nearly gave up, thinking the Bistro was closed, until some other people turned up telling us they had phoned and checked it was open. We were directed to a side entrance and had to call to be let in. A notice on the main door confirming the Bistro was open would have been helpful. There were very few diners - I guess others may have been put off.

My Mum was admitted to the Arthur Rank, as were her wishes, when her fight against Motor Neurones Disease was coming to an end. Firstly, the building itself is wonderful as are the grounds. It didn't feel clinic, it was like being in your own home, roomy & relaxing. I loved the Arthur Rank as soon as I walked in, & all my pre-conceived ideas of what to expect from a hospice, were so very wrong. My Mums husband was able to sleep next to her bed every night, my Sister & I had a suite upstairs, if it wasn't such sad circumstances, it could have passed as a lovely weekend getaway. The Doctors took their time to get to know us all individually & about any children & spouses we have. They anticipated everything we could possibly need. I cannot speak any higher about the Doctors, nurses, catering members, & cleaners. Everyone were so polite & would constantly ask if there was anyway whatsoever to make our stay more comfortable, during this harrowing time. So if us, the family were treated so well, you can come to your own conclusions about how they treated our Mum/Wife & Friend to many, during het last days & hours. I feel it deserves more recognition for what it does for families & the dying. I would give it 10 stars if i could. I just rang one of the Staff Members who looked after us, while on the night shift, & before I could even thank her for what she did for us, & it's more than her job role requires, she asked me if myself, my Sister & Dad were all ok, & remembered our names. I wish I could say these members of staff, who watch, feel & see so much misery that life throws at you, but on a daily basis for them, are paid for the considerable job they do. They are so underpaid for the service they give. It's hard to "fake" a smile on a 12 hour shift, with other patients, & their families, their sincerity is overwhelming. Thank you so much Arthur Rank, for allowing our Mum/ Wife to keep her dignity & respect to the end. A such sad ending for her & us was made bearable. Thank you so much. I don't want to pick any one member of staff to praise because they were all wonderful, from beginning to end, but one woman for me, who helped me & went above & beyond, esp as I stayed awake all night, was Suzanne.C. You really are a wonderful woman & work alongside a brilliant team. Thank you doesn't seem enough, but it's all I have.

The building, garden, staff and ambiance come together in heartwarming fashion as families accompany loved ones on the hard road to their final exit. If we have to go, and we all have to go, I can't think of a finer departure point.
