Lovely family run company that delivers the latest cutting-edge electric bike tech, with a wide range of brands. We've bought a Tern GSD (thumping great cargo bike) and a Raleigh Motus GT from them, and are very happy.

I posted this because I was appalled to receive such a snide thing to post in your news letter. I’ve no idea who you are talking about, I haven’t got the wrong shop your the shop in the Marina with only a few reviews and most of them are very unfriendly to your good self. I have been in your shop and experienced for my self what other people write in your reviews. Who is the dealer you think I am mixing you up with? I can’t see any dealers who have worse reviews than you. Thus the one star. You may also be aware that there is another Dealer who ‘plagiarises’ us. They suffer a terrible reputation within the Trade and we get a steady stream of disgruntled Customers of theirs making all sorts of allegations. Not only is it disheartening to see how poorly they treat Customers, it’s also incredibly annoying that some Customers get confused with our business - It’s the last thing we want to be associated with! So whilst they focus on copying us, we’re moving on to bigger and better things. Some might call it Karma!

Nearly two years I was given a folding Raleigh e-bike by my partner from this shop. The bike never worked properly, we had to take it back several times for repairs. The owner of the shop was horrible to us when we tried to return it and then only gave us ¾ of the total purchase price back. The process had been so awful that we accepted the offer because we didn’t want to have to deal with the owner of the store ever again. I’ve written this review over and over again over the last year, but it’s been too painful to finish so this is a short and edited version. Below is the full review, last edited about 9 months ago: The history: my partner bought me a bike for Christmas and birthday presents this year and it has never worked properly: the peddle assist only works intermittently. My partner returned it to be fixed 3 or 4 times in the first 6 months, each time there was an insinuation from the owner that we were either lying or had done something wrong: not charged the battery, ridden too fast etc, each time tests prove the bike has a fault. Each time the bike gets fixed, it never really works properly until it gets to the point where the peddle assist gives up completely. In the summer, the peddle assist failed as I was going up a hill in 6th gear, the bike didn't have enough momentum and I fell off it, causing very painful cuts and bruises (which got infected), luckily I fell to the left and not to the right because there was a lorry behind me. This spooked me to the extent where I will never get on a bike again! My partner took the bike to be fixed for the fourth time in June, but I haven't been back on it since. Kath gave it a try a couple of weeks ago and it didn't work, the battery was on three so she charged it up to full (five) and it did work. Kath has been resisting going back to the shop because the owner is so unpleasant. We decided that this is a problem which needs fixing and maybe we should cut our losses and sell the damn bike. We found a buyer who came to do a test run (bear in mind that the bike has been fixed), I stood and waited for him to ride back up the hill and my heart sank because it was clear that he was peddling under his own steam...no peddle assist to be seen! I phoned the shop, told them I was going to bring the bike in and wanted a refund. When we arrived, the owner was horrible to us! He told us we should have made an appointment, that we hadn't given him an opportunity to prepare (he's never given us any paperwork!), he was really defensive, kept interrupting us, told us to stop interrupting him and that if we believe the bike doesn't work we should follow the law and pursue him using the Consumer Rights Act and he would take all the evidence into account and decide whether or not to give us refund once he'd completed an investigation! He told us that this is what he had to do when his expensive car didn't work properly; we did point out that we're not dealing with Mercedes here! Ultimately he kicked us out of the shop! We also tried contacting Raleigh who were equally unpleasant and unhelpful. The owner of the shop wrote an email to my partner saying that he had spoken to the Raleigh team; they had agreed and were sure that my partner would agree, that my attitude was such that they didn’t feel inclined to help! (I was so upset by the whole horrible situation). I'm not really sure what happened to customer service in this country, but when I ran a business and a customer had a clear, unambiguous complaint, I would apologise, be kind and sympathetic and give a refund if it was appropriate (which it clearly is in this case). I'm so annoyed! (I’m still too frightened to get back on a bike and have nasty scarring on my hands, knees and shoulders, as well as discomfort in my knees, feet and ankles which were badly bruised and swollen as a result of my accident).

Bought my bike from this shop. They're very knowledgeable and friendly, especially to someone like me who has no real knowledge or experience. Whole process was efficient and painless from selecting my bike through to picking it up. I wanted to use a local shop so that I'm supporting my local area and also have a trusted supplier I can use for ongoing servicing and maintenance. These guys are that shop and I recommend them.

Bikes online are not in stock I paid for a £2699 for a haibike fullnine. Received a phone call to say that they want to be an honest retailer so thought I should know that it's an EU model and that they would have to order and this could take several weeks. "Honest" retailer would surely write this in the description? I'm now waiting for a refund witch may take a few days to show. So I cannot order from somewhere else in the meantime. Very inconvenient!

Bought a Haibike SDURO 2.5 Trekker. Graham delivered this to our house during lockdown some 15 miles from the store and set everything up. Pre sale advice was good whichI felt was sound and impartial. The bike has developed a fault (constant and annoying noise from the front breaks in cooler weather) which I am trying to resolve with Graham's help. It has been back to the shop but the service/repair was short lived. I'll update this post in due course to let you know how I get on, but I can't fault the service from Graham and his team.

I made an appointment on line for a free trial , as I had not been on a bike for over 50 years , when I arrived the greeting I received was very friendly and I met with the store manager Lucy , who showed me to the bikes , we both agreed my budget and I was given the bike to try out , Lucy very kindly accompanied me to the back road by the shop and guided me very well , she could see I was very nervous but , that did not deter her from staying with me . After a short ride we returned to the store and I was to decide whether or not I would purchase , I am happy to say that I fully recommend this shop , as I have done to my colleagues at work and friends , I decided to wait until I have a bit more cycling experience and will definitely be back to purchase in the future . If you are looking for an electric bike Electric Bikes Sussex is the place to go 5 ***** stars customer service

Called in to enquire about a couple of e bikes. Was greeted quickly by Brad. He was extremely knowledgeable and not only had answers to every random question I through at him of my compiled research over the last few weeks. But he made suggestions aswell which dwarfed my research. I am even more excited than ever to get an electric bike, and have plenty more options now I have spoken to Brad, I highly recommend dealing with this store.

Very poor Aftersales Customer Service. You would expect a little more care and attention when you spend £1,000's on a bike.

Graham and team were extremely helpful in my first purchase of an electric bike. Wait, I hear people screaming "But that's cheating!" I disagree. Firstly, you still have to pedal, assistance only up to 15mph and I can now cycle longer and not fear the hill that is outside my house. I can still feel I have cycled and do get off out of breathe, it just means I don't need to get off the bike and walk. Anyway, the shop has a lot of bikes on offer and after a quick discussion we identified the type of model I required. They also have a workshop and will be able to service the bike when it needs it too. A quick test ride to confirm an electric bike was for me and I was sold. Have ridden up that dreaded hill and do feel better for it. No, I don't think it's cheating as I was making excuses for not taking the bike or putting the bike in the car and meeting up with my crew. Bring some ID, have an open mind and come on down. You'll be glad you did. Thank you guys, for all your hard work and support, as well as putting up with my incessant silly questions.

You'll find an extremely helpful and knowledgeable team at Electric Bikes Sussex. There are a lot of bikes to check out here (unlike some other retailers) and it's in a great location if you want to take a couple out for a road test. Very highly recommended!

Thanks to Graham and all the staff for the generous loan of an electric bike for the Mayor's Charity bike ride from Paris to Brighton. Covering more than 180 miles over the weekend I enjoyed using the bike enormously. Even after 64 miles in the rain, I still had over 40% of the charge remaining. The bike made the distance and hills easy, I could even pack a picnic in my panniers! Without the assistance I wouldn't have attempted the ride at all, the bike gave me the confidence to give it a go and I found it easy to use and could vary the effort I put in so that I got some exercise too. Want one of my own now, I'd go everywhere on it!

I think this family run business is great. I found them very helpful. I was really just investigating e-bikes when I went there first, but I was sold on the concept after a test ride around the marina. E-bikes aren't cheap, but they are great fun. You can get lesser quality e-bikes cheaper elsewhere, but the ones sold here all seem to be very good quality.

I went to Electric Bikes Sussex around 6 months ago while in the marina with my family just to have a look and we were met with a great friendly welcome and Graham took time to chat to us all about our cycling habits in general. As it was myself that was interested I stayed to discuss ebikes while my family went around the marina. This has turned out to be the best experience as I ws educated about ebikes and realised my preconceived ideas could not have been more wrong. Once Graham had helped me understand my needs and took advantge of a test ride we selected the haibike sduro 8.0 as I was able to buy through the cycle to work scheme. I have now had the bike around 5 months (due to stock and the scheme timetable) and have covered over 1000 miles. Yes that is a thousand. I have riden further than I could have imagined, lost a stone in weight and gone down to a one car family as I now enjoy riding to work. The haibike sduro 8.0 is an amazing bike on or off road with excellent almost silent motor and great battery range. Graham and his team have been there to answer any questions and given great advice. Highly recommend buying from electric bikes Sussex as the service, advice and after sale support has been invaluable. Thanks guys.

I visited this shop a couple of weeks ago, and wasn't impressed by the service, I felt a little prejudged as i was wearing work gear, so I went in again today, again in my work clothes again, and was met again by unfriendly and unwelcoming staff. The young girl didn't even want to look at me. Please sort the staff out. One should never pre judge a sale on a persons clothes, I work hard and have money to spend. Biking is my passion! There was 1 young northern guy who was very helpful, but too late, I will find another shop.

Great selection of different types of bikes,. You really should try one to see how good they are. We bought two and absolutely love them. We use them to commute to work and explore the downs. The bikes can be used without any power assistance at all, they are 'normal' bikes but when the terrain gets tough, any hill and I mean any hill becomes a doddle!. They allow riders of very different abilities to go out together and fill you with enthusiasm to actually go out on a ride when when sometimes you're feeling a little tired. Once you're out there you can't get enough! I explore any path on the downs because I don't care about where it may or may not lead, I know even the steepest hill or muddiest path is easy if I'm feeling tired. The staff in the shop are very friendly and will do all they can to assist you. If you're curious about these bikes, go and have a look. I can't recommend them enough.

Whilst on a day out in Brighton with the young ones on there bikes. We were unfortunately met with a situation where the break cable on my sons bmx had simply slipped as the bolt had come loose so he had no breaks (bmx only has one back break). When we went in to the shop. I asked how much it would cost to re seat the cable and tighten the bolt ( IMO a 5 minute job) and I was advised that a new cable was needed and would not fix unless he put a new cable on (the bike is 6 months old!). I was advised that the break cable definitely needed replacing and the cost for this would be £20-£25 including the labour (£5 for the cable and £15-£20 to replace). I declined as to be honest I knew the cable was fine and went to another local bike shop and asked the same question. The chap grabbed some pliers and the right spanner. 30 seconds. Done and we’re on our way!! He didn’t want anything. However I did give £5 as ‘a drink’ for his help and he was very greatful. No mention of a new cable!! I know where I would be returning for future bike requirements!

At first we thought 'great', a professional looking business with a good range in stock. But that was the high point! We were meet rather than greeted by a gentleman who it turns out to be the owner of the family run business. It was obviously a struggle for him to lift his eyes for more than a couple of minutes whilst talking from a handheld tablet. He said "why should I waste of an hour of my time when you're going to go online for a better price"!!!!!! Crickey, what happened to customer service? I know business is tough out there so when a prospective customer walks in your door at least be positive no matter what you think of them! Needless to say we promptly left. We eventually both bought Haibike Allmtn 7.0s from another dealer who ironically was a little more expensive but the staff were more than helpful and it wasn't even their business. No matter what your customer is going to spend whether a few pounds or as in our case over 8K, please at least be courtious, that costs nothing ????

Love my bike but really unfriendly and appalling customer service. Worse if you have a child with you...its like walking on egg shells as they are very unfriendly and rude if you have a child and behave like your child is surely a menace to my shop! If something's wrong with your bike after purchase, they direct you to a website, that too to a wrong one. All they care about is if you are buying the bike. Both father and daughter have the same attitude problem! They also charge per hour to make a product enquiry about a replacement part!

Had a trial run on them first then after that we were hooked. We bought two of the Haibike Xduro all mountain RC's. We have never had so much fun on a bike since we've had them. The first week alone we did over 100 miles and we are out and about on them all the time now, very addictive. The staff in the shop were very friendly & helpful, couldn't have asked for a better service from them. Highly recommend these bikes as they are very good for on the road and brilliant for off road to go exploring. Thankyou to all of you in the shop for your professional help and advice.
