We bought a house from Jelson in 2017 and then moved to another on the same site in 2019, the house is excellent and I am very happy with that. However the after sales service from Jelson is non-existent, if you contact the Head Office you get an unhelpful receptionist who will just put you through to any voicemail she can find, if you call back and complain she becomes surly and talks over you. Do not buy from them, if you have any problems than they don't care nor will they do anything to resolve them.

Complete disregard for local wildlife and environmental impact. Jelson plan to destroy these beautiful trees, simply for the purposes of building a larger footbridge (no plans to build houses here) - The trees were suddenly marked up for destruction yesterday, without any consultation with residents about these specific plans. A larger bridge is completely unnecessary, given the path extends either direction to an easy crossing, whilst the bridge we have now is lovely and quaint (Popyfields)

Do not respond to your calls/emails. I’ve been in the house 2 and a half years and still outstanding jobs have not been done. Lock on front door broken, said won’t fix it, wonky fence, brown dead plants from day 1. Awful service. No one seems to know what there doing when you do get through and so unhelpful. Say they will call you back and don’t. It feels like you have to go through about 10 people to get to the right person and still they say what you want to hear and no action. Would NOT recommend atall! Poor poor communication - they are not bothered about you once you have purchased, they just hope you will forget the outstanding jobs.

If something is wrong with your Jelson home, like a leaky roof on a house built in 2016. Good luck getting a response out of them. Pretty sure a roof should be good for more than 4 years right?

We found the house we liked in Feb 2019 and used Jelson's part exchange deal for our old house. The part exchange was a really easy process. Jelson set a completion date of 30th May which we told our solicitor that we had already planned to go away that weekend but Jelson weren't interested and that date was set in stone. We viewed the house many times and no progress was being made to make it ready for us. After one of our very first visits we reported that a pipe was leaking in the cloakroom, this only got fixed a couple of weeks before we moved in but as it was left for months it has stained the skirting board. The knowledge of the onsite sales office was poor, the majority of our questions at the time had to be relayed back to head office but then we wouldn't hear anything. Two weeks before we were due to move there was still no flooring or kitchen appliances fitted. We also spotted a leak from the towel radiator in the en suite. We passed on our concerns to the sales office onsite who again passed it onto head office. Our introduction to the house was arranged the day before we were due to move. So we took time off work and as we arrived outside our new home there were carpet fitters inside and an internal door on the path outside. Customer care asked us if we minded coming back the following day but we informed them that that was our moving day which Jelson didn't want to move months ago. So the introduction took place walking over half laid carpets and lino and a carpet fitter wanting to screed the hallway floor. It was shocking but as we were due to move the following day, whatever we could of said or done wouldn't of made any difference to Jelson. Moving day - Unsurprisingly the house was dirty and unfinished. A new floor had been fitted in the en suite with the towel radiator still dripping meaning we had a plumber out until 6pm that evening. We have had all sorts of issues including a gas leak from the cooker which I was informed by an East Goscote engineer that it was the new radiators warming up! Most of the house has had to be resealed in the bathrooms, around most windows and where the lino flooring meets the skirting as it is lifting already and very dirty. PVC windows are damaged and really draughty (made by Jelson). Stanley blade found in the grass on moving in day evening with children playing in bare feet. No response from Jelson. Mice in our loft and internal walls. Jelson just put a hand written note through the door telling us to contact a pest control company. We have had to throw away a lot of belongings from the loft as it was either damaged by mice or covered in mice droppings. The site manager said he had been around the house to look for mice entry points but this wouldn’t of been possible as our back gate was locked. We sent our completed snagging form back within a month and got a confirmation letter stating that snagging works will usually be completed within 8 weeks. We had a visit from a plumber and a electrician after about 6 weeks then after about 2.5 months I contacted Customer care to see what the hold up was, Customer care replied saying that she had passed it onto someone else? 12 weeks pass and the snagging team arrive and work through most of the list that they can. The team said I should hear from someone in a couple of weeks for an update on the rest of the list. It’s now week 17 and I haven’t heard from Jelsons. I appreciate we are in lockdown now but if Jelson had kept to their timeframes that they enforce their customers do then all of the snagging works would have been complete pre lockdown. A tarmac company turned up out of the blue to finish the driveway, we had no notice about this from Jelson. We love the location of our new home and we have plenty of room for us all and parking isn’t an issue but there is no quality control and very poor communication in the company. Our house is nowhere near a reflection on the show home we viewed and going by the state of our house I can’t see how Jelson have been ‘building quality homes for 130 years.’

Do not buy a property with any small patch of grass in front of it from this company! After a few years they will sell all the small patches of grass in front of the houses at auction. They'll do this without warning residents and without considering transferring the land to the council. This has left us really uneasy about who will own the grassed area in front of our home and what they might do with it, immediately, but also in the future.

Beware when purchasing a Jelson home. Once they have moved offsite they will look to auction off the green areas to the highest bidder, leaving residents concerned what these areas will be turned into. They should have been transferred to the local council!

Brilliant service when buying! However, completely different situation once you are in, the after care team is shocking. We have had nothing but trouble with our house, and getting people round to fix things is a nightmare. The Customer care team is an absolute joke and are so rude. I would avoid buying a house with jelson and go elsewhere.

Jelson has just placed all of our community spaces up for auction and not transferred them directly to the council. Beware!

Really pleased with our Jelson Home, we've been almost two years and still have a few minor issues to be resolved - hopefully will be soon! Overall over the moon with the house.

I have purchased from this builder and compared to most new builds (I've lived in many) the quality of the building and the additional materials are amazing! The sizes of the garden, garage and driveways are generous. Glad we found our forever home

I’ll write the high(low)lights below but if you want a summary to save you the trouble of reading an extensive list, here it is. They were rude, pushy, unresponsive, completely lacking in knowledge of both the properties they are building and also the way in which houses are sold in this country, they lied, they didn’t have the decency to break bad news, they didn’t apologise for anything that they did wrong instead tried to blame other parties, they cancelled mortgage surveys at my financial expense and refused to admit they had done so (despite my survey company providing me evidence in the form of a recorded phone call) they were deliberately obstructive and in the end they sold the house behind my back to another buyer. I have written a letter to the boss (Graham Jelley) but highly doubt he will have the decency or even the guts to send a reply. I looked round the site in Peterborough. The lady who showed me round was a very nice lady, however that was about as good as it got. She knew nothing about the property as the head office had not given her any details. This was in February 2020. I called up to the head office to put in the offer to be given a load of sales pitches, “oh were you the person I spoke to earlier?”, “we had someone else put in an offer today as well”. (If that we’re the case, they would have already sold it!) I received a call from Kate Horton-Walker (a lady in the sales department) who told me that the six week exchange date was just over a week away and that if I weren’t able to exchange, they would put the house back on the market as they had other potential buyers who were interested (how they were interested as they had had no one on site for around a month by this point, was beyond me and yet another dishonest sales tactic). About a week after this phone call I received a call from my solicitor to tell me that Jelson had pulled out of the sale and put the house back on the market. I called Kate to ask her firstly why this was, seeing as we were within the six week exchange contract and secondly, why she hadn’t had the decency to call me and inform me of this. All she said was that she had instructed the solicitors to cancel the sale as we were not going to hit the target exchange date. After talking with various other parties, including my mortgage advisor, who sent an updated mortgage AIP over to me which was then forwarded to Kate, I secured another six week exchange date. Cut to a few weeks later, mortgage survey was booked on the 19th June 2020 to take place on the 29th June 2020. I called the day before the survey at the on site team to ask what time the survey was taking place as I wanted to go round and measure up for curtains etc. only to be told that Wendy at the site was unaware of when the survey was going ahead. It turns out through speaking with the surveyors and receiving unequivocal proof, that Wendy had in fact called less that four hours after the survey had been booked to cancel it, after being given seemingly no instruction to do so whatsoever. I called the head office to ask what on earth was going on and they denied any knowledge of this, meaning one of two things. Either head office had called Wendy to tell her to cancel it only a few hours after calling myself to tell me when it was booked in for, or Wendy had taken it upon herself to go well above her pay grade and cancel it herself. Either way someone was lying. To cut to the end, I was then told that they had sold the house to someone else, meaning that they had myself and another buyer going all along and were waiting to see who got there first. If I were you, avoid this company like the plague. The only reason I wanted to stick with them was that the location of the house I was buying was good as it was close to family and friends. The house itself was nothing special but location is key for me. I can’t advise people against this company enough! I have sent a letter to the boss but was told by his sales team “he doesn’t deal with the likes of the general public”, which I think says it all really!

Firstly I never leave reviews but I feel with a purchase this big had I had more reviews to go from it would have helped massively! We bought our house back in January this year and moved in May, the sales process was excellent, Barbara was very helpful and never got tired of us visiting our house the 100000 times we did whilst it was being built! Since moving in we have had a few snagging issues which is to be expected but honestly Jelsons have been super quick with fixing all issues we have had, I honestly couldn’t recommend Jelsons enough, not all new builds are bad!

The purchase of my new home at Fieldfare, Mountsorrel was such a smooth process. The site/sales people and sales team working at the Head Office were so helpful with any queries I had during the process, this being my first purchase I was very grateful. I love my new home. Thank you Jelson.

I am 2 weeks away from completing my very own house, a new build Jelson house on poppyfields, Barrow upon Soar. By chance I looked through the kitchen window & noticed there was no wall units or under pelmet lighting as per the specification! When I spoke to Jelson they said the actual plan (that they don’t disclose until requested apparently) this wasn’t the same as the specification & apparently I had been given an old specification which they were still handing out & advertising this same property through Roy Green estate agents & also on the specification. This is very misleading & I have been sold a house that is NOT as the specification! They did not inform me nor did they say the wall units were not included & that they would be extras...£888 extra !!! This is not what you expect from a new build... no wall units at all. Be very wary when buying from this builder-Jelson

Bought a new build from Jelson in Wigston had a few minor issues but the guys were quick to resolve. Not the best in the detail but houses are solidly built and solid internal walls etc. House is very energy efficient and have very low bills due to this.

Great sales team, Poor finish and attention to detail, extremely poor after sales. I’d advise looking at other developers if you want/expect a good quality of standard finish (especially when spending almost £250,000) We may just be another one of the Unlucky ones.....

No after sales care at all for their shoddy and lazy house building. So rude over the phone it's unreal, if you want to buy a new house like I did from these, just call up and pretend to be an existing customer and see how nice they are then!

We’ve been living in our new home on the Fieldfair development in Mountsorrel for a year now and had a great experience. We love our house, the layout and design is perfect for us, the built in storage is a massive plus that most new builds don’t have. The house has a couple of snagging issues when we moved in which we reported and they came round within a couple of days and resolved them. All the builders we’re spoken to on-site have been really friendly and helpful and the sales staff have been helpful as well. We get letters through our door informing us of any site works that are taking place in the coming weeks that may effect us (eg road dressing work). I would highly recommend buying a home from Jelson Homes.

By far the most unhelpful company we have ever dealt with!! -Found a house, credit check done all approved Went to put a reservation fee down. - “no gotta sell your house first” (ok thats fair enough) can we part exchange? “No” Our house sells (the exton we want sells a week before our sells - no more extons available until next year.) Me: “Can we put a reservation on one of those then jelsons:”no not released yet” Me: “when will the be released“? - jelsons: “dont know probably next month” -countless phone calls - any news on release date etc? All Responses “no, dont know” etc Went to see a linnet to consider. 10 manholes in the back garden so asked if we could have it at a reduced price - “no” Rang today for exton release date - 2 weeks from Our moving out date Jelson:”they got sent for pricing last week” Me: “Okay so when will they be released?” Jelson: “Dont know could be next week, week after dont know“ Me: “Well thats not very helpful we will have to go elsewhere really as we only have temporary accommodation sorted and need to know how long we will be staying there as we have 3 young children” Jelson: “well if you want an exton so bad then cant you just wait for them to be released?” NO BECAUSE WE DONT KNOW HOW MUCH THEY ARE GOING TO BE!!! All we wanted was to know we have a house and put a reservation down on one so we can make arrangements instead of waiting around for something we haven't got the faintest idea with whats going on . We are now looking at an older build house with no chain and have a mortgage offer in place. Told jelsons this as-well they weren't that bothered that we would buy elsewhere Overall jelsons favourite word is NOPE! Or DUNNO ????‍♀️ Seriously what do they expect of people!? Jesus christ if this is the sales process i am fairly confident the after care would be 10,000 times worse Also noted aswell that any bad things written on jelsons facebook page is deleted as quickly as possible. I have also been blocked on instagram for copying this review on their page!!! Haha! Dont obviously like responding to negative comments (id say thats false advertising based on the fact they will not have bad reviews on their page and try to rectify) Shows they are quick at some things

Have not purchased a property with Jelson but I came near to buying a house which was advertised at 246k on their website. When I arrived and decided that I want to go through with the sale I was informed that the actual price is 264k. I thought it was fair to meet at the half way point due to false advertising and after attempting to negotiate, word came down from the director 'we will easily sell the house so NO'. Fair enough, honesty is the best policy but zero points for customer care.

Before buying through Jelson in Anstey I took the time to read the reviews. There were some bad ones, particularly detailing the poor after sale care. I can confirm from personal experience that they are indeed appaling. We have a long list of issues still outstanding and we have been in the house now for 5 months. There is still a hole in our roof after 5 months. The whole house needed to be repainted, and still needs another coat. Pathways front side and rear all sank significantly and needed to be re laid. The list of more minor issues goes on and on too. To cap it off, we sent a letter of complaint on 14th January 2019 and still haven't had a response. It really is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Once they have your money they really don't care at all. Save your self the hassle and buy through any other builder.

The worst ever experience buying a house with Jelson Homes. I have had endless problems with the property that should never happen in the first place. Also would like to mention that they take weeks to reply (Amanda) and then there is always excuses and they try to blame you for it. Neil Jaggard as a customer care manager does nothing to make a customer feel more comfortable. CANNOT WAIT TO GET RID OF THIS HOUSE.

A very stressful and negative experience which resulted in our family wasting 13 weeks of our lives being involved with this company. I will echo the views of previous reviewers - the customer service in my opinion is appalling and that was during the buying stage. I grew concerned that a legal issue could not be satisfied and recieved conflicting information on the issue. I felt pressured into exchanging when there were outstanding issues - I am very glad we stood our ground and did not exchange under these circumstances. The house was re marketed and I was not directly informed (an email was sent from solicitor to solicitor). The distress to our family has been awful. It seems that this type of issue (falling apart around exchange) has happened to other people too (word of mouth). However; we now have a happy ending as we found a bigger, higher spec house for the same money with another developer! The buying experience has been worlds apart! The comments in this review are based on email facts, my own opinion and observations. Update: we eventually recieved a refund for our deposit after reporting Jelson to Help to Buy. The letter with the cheque was addressed to the wrong person (clearly someone else who needed a refund!) They also spelt my name wrong on the cheque, this degree of incompetence did not suprise me. Please make up your own mind on this developer. We bought our new house with a different developer, minor snags resolved within weeks. The solicitors paperwork was very different to what we recieved too and included detail and the correct information. We had no issues and exchanged within 6 weeks. At the time jelson said the issue was our solicitor but I cant see how, she didnt get a fee unless we completed (no financial gain) and we used the same one for the house we actually purchased. Further to other reviews I can also agree that the site office were not knowledgeable, we were not shown diagrams of the house, maps of the area and she didnt know when broadband would be installed on the estate as well as not being able to answer other general questions. Finally after 7 months someone did move into the whinchat, they are at least the 3rd people (we were told someone had an issue with their mortgage when it suddenly became available) to try and buy a "new" house that would have been 7 months old on completion. I am glad how things turned out and just over a year later we are settled in our new house which we love. Thank you Jelson, we did find our dream home, just with someone else.

Purchased new house from Jelson they are great to deal with during the buying process but once you have the keys the after sales service is appalling as is their build quality. The problems we had with this house were unbelievable and caused us much stress and worry, would we buy another from them - never. .

Can’t think of many developers that build houses but rush planning and bypass any fibre broadband to phase 1... phase 2 have correct cables for fibre?! I was told by the delightful jelsons customer care it’s not their problem, once sold they have nothing more to do with it and move on. The customer service are unbelievable, patronising condescending and useless, no people skills, it’s difficult to actually tell them a problem without them interrupting and talking over you. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced, almost as if I haven’t just paid them £100,000’s, if you’re in any doubt over which developer to use, I’d advise against them from personal experience. Absolutely no care for anyone who has already paid! Shocking It’s no surprise they have so many 1* reviews, the arrogance of the after sales and customer service team means this will be overlooked

Bought a new house from Jelson and can definitely say NEVER again. You pay all that money for rubbish. None of my 3 toilets were attached to the wall or the floor resulting in them leaking through ceilings, all the flushing systems went within a few months, the downstairs toilet is hooked up to the hot water system, yes correct hot water. The boiler has broken twice, the expander tank has gone 3 times, the water tank needed all new pipes, the water pressure had not been correctly done so we had trickling water for ages until water company came out and sorted it, you can't reach behind toilet to switch the water supply off as they have boxed it in and stepped into the shower for the shower tray to crack give way resulting in yet another leak. The list goes on. They just don't care. The plumber I use on a regular basis worked for Jelson and he said this house is unbelievable. I am now sitting composing a letter to the NHBC to see what they say.

Good to start , however once the sale is complete expect the worse customer service experience in purchasing. I bought our new home in April this year and can't wait to be able to move to a new new home with a different builder and no they are not all like this! I should have stuck with Belway!!! Our garden railings are falling apart the garden steps aren't even secure they tilt over! To name 2 of 30 things and if you report it to Jelsons DO NOT expect a call back !!!! Ever
