Horrible practice, they are unable to fill prescriptions as required, Doctors leave their practice and they do not initiate a process to continue care or maintain a status quo of care. Avoid at all costs! They are excellent at confirming their mistakes and then hiding behind senseless policies designed for profit rather than patient welfare.

I saw Dr Raja over a year ago, but it looks like she hasn’t changed. Her unprofessional behavior is nothing new and it seems she has only gotten worse. Why spend time and money to have someone belittle you and make you feel like a loser for wanting help? There are excellent doctors in Reston, she is not one of them. ETA: I was placed with her after THREE other doctors quit and joined other practices. She didn’t want to hear anything I had to say or learn anything about me. All she did was talk about how experienced she was and how all patients are drug addicts. It was extremely strange and uncomfortable. She talked directly about the patient I just saw walk out. I’m pretty sure that’s a HIPAA violation. It made me wonder what gossip she said about me to other patients. I only saw her once, but I should have walked out immediately. So many red flags.

I saw Dr. Raja since November 2020 - April 2021 (total of three 15 min meetings and an initial intake). She seemed fine for a period of time, but then she changed on a dime and became completely unprofessional. She failed to notify me of changes in her personal prescription distribution requirements. She went on ranting about how "other patients" were doing incorrect things and abusing their medications and that she would no longer treat me as a result of these "other patients" - effective immediately (I was there to get a prescription refill). She wouldn't let me get a word in on how this was inappropriate as I've never been that patient and have decades of documentation from well known neurologists to support this. She kept interrupting and would not let me explain what the impact to me was and how inappropriate it is not to give a patient proper notice of this type of change. She told me she wasn't interrupting but rather "interjecting" (can you fathom a professional justifying her poor behavior and actively arguing with a client over these types of semantics). She then told me I was getting aggressive (I wasn't). I told her I can understand changes in service but that as a medical professional she should have provided ample time for me find another doctor before refusing to treat me. At a minimum she should have expressed her intentions of pending policy change with accompanied deadlines. I explained that just *taking me off the medicine would have dire consequences for my life and livelihood*. She then told me that by saying it would have negative consequences to my life I was: insulting her, gaslighting her, that my reaction was grandiose and therefore I was showing signs of a personality disorder. It seems uncharacteristic and frankly reckless for any mental health professional to throw these types of accusations around... But especially when the mental health professional is simultaneously refusing treatment. I explained that wasn't trying to insult her but was trying to illustrate a potential consequence of her actions. Her professional response was "well what, was it a compliment?" I explained it wasn't meant as a compliment or an insult but rather a consequence of refusing to help me while giving me zero notice of her intentions to no longer provide proper medical support. I should note I've seen neurologist and mental health professionals for decades. None of her accusations have ever been even casually brought up. I'm always open to getting help for any issues I may have - hence why I wanted to see Dr. Raja. This really was an unbelievable interaction with a highly unprofessional Psychiatrist. It's people like Dr. Raja that give all mental health professionals a bad reputation.

This review is purely for Dr. Samina Raja. Avoid her at all costs! She is completely dismissive and throws around that she is a psychiatrist with so many years of experience and all the other people that have prescribed my medication (that has been working for years) aren't as good as her. She refused to fill my medication and said that my diagnoses could not be at the same time. However, Dr. John Getz is an amazing therapist, and Meira Yasin is amazing as well. I have been going here for years and never once have I felt so disrespected as a patient as I did with having an appointment with Dr. Raja. If the office has any sense they will get rid of her.

Got doctor Raja... Spent an hour word vomiting about trauma which includes a misdiagnosis in my past that had me on mood stabilizers that did not fix my problems, wrecked my body, and left me in a low grade depression for 10 years. I have been off those meds for 3 years and my life has substantially gone better however due to recent circumstances I was suffering from anxiety. She was so dismissive and concluded our appointment by cutting me off after she triggered my trauma responses and then pushed... More mood stabilizers. Ones that would by the way destroy my kidneys and cause weight poblems because a side effect is anorexia. (She was made aware that I see a kidney specialist during my appointment). Do not go here they are purely pill pushers and they do not listen. I needed a referral to a good therapist and apparently an adjustment to my blood pressure meds. I feel better despite her attempt to overlook, misdiagnos, and wrongfully medicate me again. I will not be going back.

I'm not able to speak for the earlier reviews of front desk, however my experience recently with them has been nothing but great. The front desk is very courteous and accommodating with scheduling. When I schedule an appointment, Ryan gets back to me very quickly via the secure portal and is extremely attentative with my concerns while on the call with him.

I have been going to this practice for a few months now. I have experienced a few issues with this practice both on the administration end and the provider's end. Firstly, the administration at this practice is highly inefficient. They rarely pick up the phone and almost never return your calls. I would estimate they pick up the phone 3 out of 10 times I've called and I have only received a call back twice out of perhaps 10 calls they have received from me for scheduling and prescription refills. My provider on the other hand is always on time for our appointments and treats me very well, but they have never successfully gotten all of my prescriptions sent to my pharmacy. They either send one and not the other or neither go through. This is a huge issue for me because especially now during COVID-19, everything is done over phone/video, therefore; I cannot get the physical prescriptions in person to take to the pharmacy to get my medications. There have been two times in the last 3 months that my prescriptions have run out and I've gone days without my medication. This is a result of my prescription "not going through to the pharmacy," me placing a refill request through their automated phone line, and not getting any response until I call the front desk directly and they tell me they will let my provider know (which takes days). Ultimately, I wouldn't recommend this practice to anyone. It's just too much of a hassle to go through and honestly they make you feel like your mental health is not their priority. Look elsewhere!

I did not realize psychiatry is telling the doctor what condition you believe you have and then getting prescribed different medicines until one works. What kind of doctor are you if you need multiple tries to treat my condition? Each 15 minute appointment costs me $30, plus the cost of buying different medicines that only made me feel worse. I saw Dr. Meira Yasin. She was in a rush to see other patients and ranted to me about how patients like to experiment on their own with medicines (not relevant to my appointment). She kept reminding me “I’m the doctor, not you.” Really bold of her to say when I felt like I diagnosed myself. She didn’t ask me any insightful questions to diagnose me and instead explored 50 different medicines to try on me. My health isn’t some carnival game where you hope to get lucky. I am a human being, not a test vial. She also did not discuss a single behavioral approach to fix my attention problems, all she did was overwhelm me with different prescription options. After listing so many options, she did not advise me on how to choose between them and told me we can talk about my decision at the next appointment. I am not paying her $2/minute just to do everything on my own and have her sign off on it. Worst doctor ever, she needs to reassess her approach toward patients. Plus, when I asked to switch doctors, they told me I need to ask my doctor for permission. That’s the most ridiculous policy I have heard. I am not some child that needs to explain why I am seeking a second opinion to the exact doctor I’m trying to avoid.

How do you lose a patient before even setting an appointment. I've worked in the medical field for some time and you need a certain ounce of professionalism. The intake front desk person is extremely extremely unprofessional. She called me twice while I was at work , no more than 5 minutes apart pn the same day and her voicemail stated as if she had been calling me for weeks at a time. Tone of voice so off and angry then, I attempted to actually schedule my first appointment and lord I should've hung up after the first huff and puff, once I was done she slammed the phone down before I could finish saying thank. That is not how you start off the process. I can understand life is crazy these days, but you always first and foremost leave your personal issues at home.

The employees at the front desk are ALWAYS professional, respectful, and have a smile no matter the time of day. My therapist was patient with me and took the time to understand what I was going through and what I needed. She let me know when I was in the wrong in a respectful way every time. Overall, everyone that works here is friendly and professional. I live an hour way so that should tell you that it’s definitely worth coming!

The doctors here are absolutely amazing. They are so caring and they actually listen. Unfortunately all of that is completely overshadowed by the front office. The scheduling department is absolutely terrible. I called over a month ago to change an appointment, never called me back. I called again to reschedule and I could hear every bit of their office gossip ON THE PHONE. Giggling and all, it was like I was in middle school all over again. They couldn’t even simply schedule an appointment over one phone call. Plus they do not have a smooth check-in/check-out process. It’s awkward and no one knows what they’re doing. It’s really sad too because the doctors here are worth it.

I've been a patient here for over 3 years, and have received quality and compassionate care. Dr. Raja is very receptive to my needs and has been empathetic and helpful throughout my struggle with ADHD and Depression. She's been considerate of my emotional and psychiatric needs, taking her time to hear out any concerns that I had, and reflect on the effects of my current prescriptions; as well as always making sure that I understood what my medications were for and how they might affect me.

Seldom answer phones and it’s a three ring circus trying to actually get someone to return calls. Emails don’t work either. Patient portal is not accessible from their website and the link to the portal that they sent via email does not work... although the site is for sale if you’d like to buy it. The doctors are good, but really, the administrative process is in shambles. (I’m trying to reschedule an appt before the deadline - otherwise, they will charge a full hour fee).

I had a really bad experience here with Dr. Raja. I have a history of depression, anxiety, and trauma, all of which I felt was very overlooked and actively dismissed. I even started crying at one point during this appointment (which I paid close to $300 for) and the doctor said "why are you crying? this happens often with my patients." So take from that what you will. I also used to self-harm -- all my scars are more than seven years old and I have a sleeve of tattoos covering them, this is an old, old pain -- and when I mentioned that, Dr. Raja asked if she could examine my scars and that it was "something they usually do." I was extremely uncomfortable with this, and have never, ever had a medical professional -- even outside of psychology/iatry -- ask to do that. It would be extremely triggering for someone sooner in their healing. I will never come back here, and it's seriously damaged my ability to trust psych professionals. I legitimately sobbed for the entire half-hour bike ride in the freezing cold back home. This appointment was that damaging. As a perk -- the front desk ladies were nothing but helpful!

Called the office to tell them that my daughter got sick and has a fever and asked to reschedule Her appointment. They said they’ll reschedule but I’ll be charged for a broken appointment. Seriously? What’s the alternative? Bring her and get everyone sick? I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE!!!

When I am able to get in, I have had a very good experience there. The therapists I have seen and the doctors and others I have worked with on my medication clearly care and are good at what they do. My recent struggle has been finding a new long term counselor/psychologist/social worker. I had one long term one that I really clicked with and then I second one that I was beginning to enjoy. Both have left the office. The original person helping with my meds left the office. I know see Dr. Adakhari and she is wonderful, but I am looking for a new therapist who takes my insurance and as far as I know I am still on wait list. I have been waiting over 3 months. I feel like they are very busy, expect a lot out of those who work there (therapist seem to see up 7-8 people a day). I don't know when they are able to do their notes and the other work that must come up with their jobs. I do like that I can get my therapy and meds in one place. I understand how people feel the front office is unorganized and I agree, but there several people in the front office who are very good, it just takes paitence in dealing with them. They are also dealing with a lot.

The STAR rating is only for Maneisha, Thank you. I have to agree with a few of the posts, unfortunately. Being able to understand the field and so forth, it is heartbreaking to hear and experience some of what the reviews (from REAL LIFE people) have mentioned. I will take my time in another post with my experience, but for now I’d like to share my pretty well experience with an individual at this practice. Maneisha. From the first day that I had to work with her for a few systems issues up until today, has been professional, inviting and unlike a number of unbelievable and unpleasant experiences that I have had at this practice. I want to thank Maniesha (I could be spelling her name incorrectly), for that. Your assistance and professional manner has not gone unnoticed. This is especially important to me, because I was just rudely dismissed on today yet again, from a long time administration front desk specialist at this practice——-Unfortunately. Thank you again Maneisha!

I’ve been here for 1 year and it’s time to find somewhere else. It’s a blessing if I’m seen at the time I’m scheduled to be seen. You’re likely to be waiting 20-40mins past your appointment time to even step in the drs office, so please make sure you don’t have anything important planned after. Don’t know if many other doctors are this way but this has happened multiple times with Dr. Raja now. One time I just simply left because I had to go to class and I was late. Every time they blame it on technology but I’ve seen multiple ppl complain for months about this same issue. Please do not get me started on prescriptions, you are lucky to get a reply back on requests for refills when you really need them. You might be waiting unmedicated for a couple days before it’s taken care of. I was told this early afternoon “submitting your prescriptions now”, which was the entire point of the meeting (I was completely out of medication), and here it is now 30 mins to close at CVS with NO refills sent. CVS does not like contacting her for me because they don’t get responses or they get denied. This is not the first time either that’s the craziest thing! I even called AND messaged before they closed to get help but there’s truly no point of the patient portal and calls if they do not do anything. Sometimes random amounts of $25 beyond the copay pop up that you have to pay but they won’t explain where the charge came from? Then other times it’s “you don’t have to pay anything this time”, but then next time I’m paying $50, it makes no sense. They’ve gotten better front staff recently, the previous was rude and just awful—one lady literally groaned when I asked if I heard the appt date correctly lol. This practice is full of stress, it is just not a good practice whatsoever.

I’m so glad I found Dr. Raja after a series of unhelpful psychiatrists that only prescribed me medicine that made me feel terrible. Dr. Raja actually listens to me and treats my depression accordingly. She takes the time and care necessary to be an excellent psychiatrist. However, since this is America, and mental healthcare is limited, just be warned to be patient in the waiting room. The doctors often run late (because they take their time—psychotropic medication is very serious), and I have seen some serious tantrums from patients in the waiting room because the doctors were late. This def doesn’t reflect poorly on the practice; there are a limited number of psychiatrists in NOVA, and there are probably more people in NOVA that need to see psychiatrists than there are practicing psychiatrists taking in new patients. Just saying...

I have been to psychiatrists my entire life and this has been the worst experience. The very first appointment I had, my so-called doctor did not know who I was and asked me about my mother. I told him my mother lives in another state I’m not sure why you’re interested, he said well your mother made your appointment? We come to find out that the chart information he had was for a completely different person. He called the office manager and asked her questions about me while I was sitting there, she politely told him this is not a conversation to have in front of a client. After he figured out who I was he asked me if I had ever felt sad. If I had ever felt hopeless, lost, or depressed. I was hoping for something a little bit more in depth besides going through the general emotions all humans have to see if I’ve ever experienced them before. I was told after I left the office and came to the front that my payment next time would be a set amount and I went on my way. I called him the day before my next appointment to confirm and check on what my payment would be myself to Double check and was told the same amount. I come to my appointment the very next day and I’m told that I owe double what was quoted now twice. The third appointment I was rescheduled twice which I understand Can happen we all have busy lives. The last appointment that broke everything was when I was given a different version of the medication I have been on for years without being consulted. If I had not caught it myself at the pharmacy I would have been on a different version of my medication. I had to call them twice the next day to get an answer, which was he thought this would be better for you. If you think a medicine will be better for me that’s fine but maybe I could be informed about it first, Maybe talk to the person taking it about the differences and what would be a better option. If I’m paying You the money I’m paying I want to maybe be told if you think you’re going to change My medication. I terminated my relationship withis place immediately.

Wendy Cohen is the best I love her. I've seen one other psychiatrist in the practice and your therapist but Wendy is my favorite. Getting ready to go on vacation that is definitely well-deserved but I am going to seriously miss her she really is an inspiration and very helpful and understanding. She doesn't try to fix you she just open to hearing and understanding and giving you a better view of things and I really love her for that.

No body goes to him... please don't waste your time if your child needs some Social Theraphy. Rather please go to a doctor who can really treat Social Work issues like an LCSW or MSW. Dr. Gets take some Books out and all kinds of Non sense but my son did not like him. Please forgive me frankness.

First of all..... I didn't realize that the NEW modern RULES for 2018: The Psychiatrists only spend 10 minutes, with you.... long enough to see if you need a prescription... then follow up with more 10 minute sessions to see how you are doing with the drugs. Psychiatrists aren't there to listen to your issues, that's what under qualified Social Workers are for. (....huh???) I've been here about 3x to see the Psychiatrist, to have my prescriptions for my sleep problems changed, because I didn't like the way they made me feel. Upon the 3rd visit, The young lady (Psychiatrist) called me a liar when I told her how the medications affected me. She said, "No one else complains about those things, so therefore what you are telling me, isn't true" (......excuse me???) I researched the medication that she prescribed me, to help me sleep. Turns out that if taken more than a month... that it could cause health problems, & dementia. Also that it could cause seizures or even death, if you abruptly quit taking it. I had only 1/2 of a pill left, and she acted like she wasn't going to give me a small prescription so that I could safely quit. She was very unprofessional. And, her "Title" is "Psychiatrist"?? I thought I was speaking to a immature highschool girl, who made me sit there for 10 minutes so she could throw digs at me the entire time, until finally giving me the prescription that I needed. She gave me a extremely SHORT 7 pill prescription for withdrawing from the medication. I went through a bad & scarey withdrawal period, which I suffered through. AND, now that I am clean of that drug.....MY EARS WON'T STOP RINGING!!! THANKS!! ........ I feel like suing her....... My impression. ....she is in the WRONG profession!!

I wish I could give them zero stars! Horrible, highly disorganized. I had 6 EAP sessions available for my step daughter and on third one in, they told us the the therapist was leaving. We were able to get in two more sessions before she left. It then took them about six weeks to get us another doctor. They also knew the previous doctor was leaving and didn’t say anything beforehand so that we could find a more permanent solution for my daughter. So now I’ve lost my EAP sessions, wasted my money on a doctor that wasn’t staying and my daughter was upset about losing the doctor she liked. THEN to top it off, I had to keep telling the office folks on MULTIPLE occasions that I had EAP because every single time we went in, they kept saying we owed them a late payment (which we didn’t because my EAP covered them) plus the current payment. So essentially, every time we went in, they kept trying to get us to pay twice. My family was totally cheated of EAP sessions, money and time. Don’t go.

So far we've had a great experience here. My son has been recently been seen for his anger management (he is severe ADHD with tendencies of Autism). The front office has been wonderful and his new doctor is fantastic as well. We couldn't be happier. The ability to get prescription refills for his ADHD here is also an added bonus (we have not used this service yet but may). May edit this post in the future, but so far we are quite happy and our insurance is 100% covered with no co-pays, yay!

Waited two weeks for an appointment only to find out I am talking to a medication management person and not a therapist. It is bad enough you have to pay people to talk to you but to get that awesomely wrong, we'll you all need to find another line of work. Then they proceeded to make me wait another two weeks to talk to someone else. The receptionist didn't even say hello or even ask my name. I am trying to get help not wait for you all to get your act together. Go to My Psychiatrist if you want just be prepared to wait two weeks and then another cause they don't know what customer service is nor how to listen. Ugh! ????????????????????????????????????????

I have never been to a psychiatrist before; when I asked the "coordinator" that took my call what if I needed to change the psychiatrist. This place isn't the best. I originally started going here because of psychosis. The first therapist they gave me never focused on my psychosis, he focused on 'depression' and 'ADHD' (two illnesses I did not have!). And that was when he wanted to talk about my problems, most of the time he would talk nonsense about himself. I ended up leaving him for another therapist there. The 2nd therapist seemed very under qualified and she was also at a loss of words and never knew what to do. The psychiatrists are nice, all though (maybe I shouldn't be speaking because I'm not a doctor) but one of them prescribed me a massive dose of anti psychotics (keep in mind I was very small and skinny). The front desk staff is horrible and rude. My doctors would double book often. I would wait to see my doctors about 35 minutes on average (usually around 25mins-1hour till I saw my doctor). There are wayyy better therapists in the area. The testing they do here is HORRIBLE. You'll only get one very vague sheet of paper telling you basically nothing about youself. I went to another practice for testing and that doctor gave me a very conclusive, 15 sheets of paper, reading and diagnosis about myself. Don't go here for testing or therapy.
