You have supported the public in seeking the help they need, throughout the pandemic and for years before. Your staff are always warm and professional in assisting me with my queries. Your platform is easy to navigate and has enabled clients to make contact with me, so as to begin their journeys of growth and healing. Sincere thanks!

Just completed the guided meditation as part of looking after myself. It is easy to lose track of what I need when attending to all those clients who need my energy and experience. This meditation connected me back into my inner self, and I really appreciated the suggestion that I offer gratitude to my body and emotional world for all it does for me. Thanks for this, I really needed it.

I have been a Counselling Directory member for a few months and the friendly approach and help has been really great. The detailed help I received was encouraging to say the least. They covered aspects of profile detail I had not considered and their whole approach is in wanting everything to go well, not just for the counsellor but also prospective clients who use the service!

Counselling Directory has provided highly effective promotion of my counselling service for many years. I would estimate that in excess of 80% of my referrals come via Counselling Directory. Customer service is second to none - I have never encountered anything other than friendly, prompt and professional assistance when I have contacted the help desk.

Not only the website is so well optimised and the profile so easy to update but, every time I call the office, I receive such a great support from everyone in the office. I have called a number of times and spoke with several people; each person was so willing to help and assist me each time. My perception is that they are not just there to do a job but they are truly passionate about what they do and genuinely willing to help and assist. I would like to mention in particular Sian and Hannah; they were so caring, extremely precise and knowledgeable about the information that they given me and they really looked after me. I spoke also with other ladies but they were equally caring, helpful and each time they promptly gave me the information i was looking for. One of the things that I like the most about the website is the tips and suggestions offered; it is very well structured. I would highly recommend this directory.

My details are hosted on a few counselling directories but this one is, by far, the most professional, dependable and smart. Really supportive of a therapist's needs. Lots of helpful information. Not only a really technically responsive website (easy to amend and change details) but also, supported by an excellent team and an admirable ethos.

No lengthy covid message about staff shortages and lengthy waits etc.or press 1 for.... Etc. And when you get that person they are always so helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Well done and thank you.

As a practitioner, the CD has proven to be invaluable as a source of clients and also as a source of information, knowledge and support. Whenever I have needed to call, the person at the other end of the phone has been a master of their brief and I have made several changes to my practice as a result.

Very sad if it's the same person who lives in Guildford currently. She sold things on Facebook marketplace that didn't work. Not only did she not give my 8 year old sons money back to him but also kept the items to resell again. I am shocked that this woman if in fact it is her can council anyone. Unethical. Liar, who would sell nerf 5 nerf guns to a child who has saved hid money for this to have only 1 of the 5 work, then take them back to refuse to give our son the total amount and say that my son broke it that's why it doesn't work. How can any organizations let this unethical, horrible woman council those who are emotionally vulnerable. Shame!

As a therapist advertising on the site I was content with the service. I was able to advertise myself authentically and post professional articles based on my expertise. Unfortunately this has changed. Instead of acting as a service provider for professionals they have a ‘content team’ who act like a Politically correct parent, subjectively doctoring professional counselling articles they don’t agree with. Basically, I wrote an article about the conflict partners have over actions and words within a relationship. Within my article I gave examples of how actions often contradict words between men and women. Here are a couple of examples: She says, ‘I’m really sorry I won’t hit you again’ but two days later throws a plate at you… He says, ‘I’d never shout at you’ but a week later screams in your face… An unqualified worker at the counselling directory ‘content team’ took it upon themselves to edit my article both changing the he/she pronouns to ‘they’ and taking out the plate throwing example. When I questioned why this individual had changed the article I was told by a lady in customer services that the statement about throwing a plate was ‘violent, potentially harmful to the viewer and required an explanation’. As therapists we are trained to be non-judgmental. Unfortunately the counselling directory to not apply this value to their customers. They appear to be falling into the ‘safe space, wrap all in cotton wool’ revolution in assuming that my article was provocative and could trigger ‘harmful memories’, therefore judging that the viewer of the article doesn’t have the strength to read it. However what they fail to realise is that prospective clients don’t have to read articles, they read articles to relate to their own experiences. Every single article a person reads triggers memory, it’s simply a fact of life as a human being. You don’t help people by sheltering them from their own experience and trying to take away pain, every therapist knows this. It’s basic counsellor understanding. You help them by believing in their inherent strength to face life’s adversities. Basically, You believe in their own process instead of trying to save them. An untrained individual from a ‘content team’ could not understand this as such awareness develops from both trained and clinical experience. Unfortunately the counselling directory appear to Insult the strength of people courageously seeking help, seeking to patronise the viewer by assuming that they are unable to emotionally take the truth of an experience in real life. Their main argument is that people may be triggered, however the application of rule is not consistently applied. For example, one article written by a female therapist on their site talks of guns, knives and quartering women into little parts. She says, in her article, ‘Do you find yourself carving up women into the sum of their body parts and commenting as if they are cattle?’ It goes on, and becomes extremely judgemental towards the reader. Another article says this, ‘He may be destructive and out of control, destroying possessions or threatening to use a knife or gun’. How is this not triggering memory? It makes me believe that they are, in fact, sexist against male therapists as my therapy is purely focused towards helping men to develop their relationships. What’s hilarious is at the bottom of each professional article it states, ‘counselling directory is not responsible for the articles published by members. The views expressed are those of the member who wrote the article’ Clearly they don’t stand by their own words and any viewpoint outside their own remit is wrong. I should like to know what theory they base their ‘correct’ viewpoints on? Simply, they no longer provide an objective service. Unfortunately it appears the culture of the directory’s leadership has become tarnished with sexism and PC culture deriving, not from science, but politically dominant media narrative. The customer service team listen but nothing gets resolved. Simply ignored. Leadership issues. Very Disappointing.
