Great eye test facilities. Quick service, thorough check up, and new prescription sorted. Got an appointment much quicker than at Burton. Only downside is that there aren't many frames to look at in store.

I was trying to buy a pair of sunglasses from the store how I do it 2 years ago. Because of the covid rules they change their rules and you can enter in the store only with appointment. That's ok for the person's who have a stable program at their job but for people who have a strange program will not be suitable. So I have to leave without be able to buy what I need. After that we see on the social media how the small companies start crying about their revenue get down because of the covid. But you don't have any other option to buy what you need.

Good if you’ve got a simple prescription. Any problems with eye health then don’t bother! Take your money for an eye test. Any imperfections an hospital referral that will never happen. Glasses that are needed never being allowed to buy! Il buy online to someone that will actually deliver what I need! Bye bye ????

Best Specsavers I’ve been to in regards to testing and customer service. They didn’t have as many glasses to choose from compared to the larger branches, but made up for it with their amazing service. The optician who tested me was really thorough and friendly and I didn’t feel pressured for time when choosing my glasses. Thanks and will be returning.

If you are elderly and especially if you have health problems give this place a miss because if you have the misfortune of turning up early for your appointment you will be expected to stay outside in the cold until your appointment time without any discourse as to whether or not you will be all right to do this! This happened to me at my appointment to collect new glasses, yesterday 15th December. With it being so close to Christmas I allowed plenty of time for traffic, parking and queues. As it happened I didn't have too much trouble and arrived early for my appointment. There was only 1 member of staff attending the locked door and a queue of people outside waiting to be attended to. By the time someone spoke with me I was frozen and not feeling too great. I gave my name and when the member of staff came back I was told I was too early to come in. I understand the reasons for the precautions but as I was waiting in the cold to speak to someone 3 patients came out and NO-ONE went in so the premises were NOT overcrowded and had the member of staff been concerned enough to ask a 72 year old person they were OK to stay in the cold for 10 minutes or so they would have been told no as I needed to sit down, have a drink and take some diabetic medication to relieve my symptoms! I lost my temper and told him not to bother and went home. When I am feeling better I will telephone to ask them to post my glasses offering them the money to cover postage if they can't afford it, request they take me off their books and arrange to see another optician. THERE'S A NOTICE ON THE FRONT ASKING PATIENTS TO CONSIDER STAFF AS THEY WORK UNDER COVID CONDITIONS, PERHAPS IT WOULD BE PRUDENT FOR SAID STAFF TO ALSO CONSIDER PATIENTS, ESPECIALLY THE ELDERLY! Staff were friendly and eye test was fine, place felt clean and safe. However, not given prescription on day of test and it took 2 phone calls and a second visit in person to get it nearly 2 weeks later.

The store in Swadlincote is a little small but still has a lot of different options for glasses. I didn't have to wait long for an appointment and the online booking system was great. The appointment was quick they didn't leave you sitting in the waiting area for long. The staff were very attentive and didn't leave you standing alone for long.

Nice staff, good location and big selection, but not the best service. Messed my 88yo grandfather around for over a month, after having an appointment for fitting and the glasses not being there. They lost them.

Just been for an eye test here and just had to come and write a review mainly about the friendly staff especially Lucy. Such a lovely girl and so helpful she helped me choose my glasses as I wouldn't have had a clue if it wasn't for her. She really was the best! Would definitely recommend this branch!

I visited here because they were advertising on tv 50% off lens replacements. When I enquired I was told as long as they still sell the frames, my glasses are Versace so I will get them replaced in Turkey at half the cost

My wife and I went for eye tests today, new shop layout means the dispensing area is before the reception, so people waiting to register are stood next to people having glasses fitted. Not ideal, however this was managed well and only happened at busy times. Pre tests and eye test completed by friendly and efficient staff, with process explained at every stage. Once new frames chosen we were seen by Mike to get the correct readings and requirements for manufacture. Mike was excellent, knowledgeable, friendly, great advice and gsoh. With 2-4-1 offer, was good vfm.

Awful! Had a check up a year or so ago and was told there was something there, but I didn’t need a prescription. Then I book another appointment online, only to receive a very shrill phone call from what can only be described as a ‘stroppy women’, informing me that if my prescription hadn’t changed I’d be charged as I wasn’t due an NHS retest just yet... Day of the appointment comes, I get there 8 minutes late to be turned away by Nick ‘the store manager’ as he said that a 3:30 and 3:40 appoints were booked so he couldn’t fit me in and I’d have to re-book for Friday at the earliest. Apparently the 3:30 had gone in already... yeah, right, because last time I was down I had to wait nearly half an hour to be seen!! Clearly they don’t like NHS clients. The shop is cramped, claustrophobic and far too hot on sunny days. They treat people like cattle and are only interested in you if they can make a quick quid out of you! Will not be returning here!

Came for eye test. Shop very busy, felt a bit as tho I was part of a production line. I decided not to order new glasses at that time however I would not have been given my written prescription if I hadn't asked.

I’ve had four pairs of glasses from this specsavers in the past two years. Since buying some prescription sunglasses 12 months ago I’ve had problems with the frame screws coming loose. They have been tightened twice in this store and once in another specsavers. A few weeks ago the frame screw came loose again, causing the lens to drop out and chip. When I took them back and explained the problem I was told by the manager that the screws were coming loose due to me sometimes having them resting on the top of my head when I’m not wearing them, really, that statement insulted my intelligence. A) the screws shouldn’t come loose and B) if they do, they should use loctite. I was made to pay £45 for a new lens. You have now lost my business as you weren’t even prepared to offer something towards the cost as a good will gesture, nice customer service!

I had some great service as soon as I moved away to another supplier. These were rude, often late and full of excuses. Staff are like puppets to the never ending flow of Dispensing Opticians

I am extremely disappointed with your service and darn right rudeness I received from your "customer relations manager" John Cook. After moving from opticians express to Specsavers I had my first eye test and glasses from them in 2015. The prescribed glasses I received gave me headaches constantly so I decided to use my old glasses which appeared to be a much better prescription (ie, no headaches or pain). Struggling for time with working overseas it has taken me a while to get back to the store, but I did make Specsavers aware via phone that I wasn't happy with the prescription. Today I went in, purely with the intent to rectify the glasses I was prescribed. I was in a happy mood and didn't think this would end up being such a horrid experience. I had a pleasant lady serving me at the start and I explained the situation. She took both my old glasses from opticians express and the new glasses from Specsavers and performed prescription checks. After she found the prescriptions were dramatically different and hence the reason for my headaches it became apparent that the prescription Specsavers had given me was very wrong. She decided to pass me over to the 'Customer Relations Manager' John Cook knowing the service they'd provided was wrong and needed rectifying. John Cook.....well, what can I say...he must have been asleep during the Specsavers 'customer relations' course as he showed no skill in this field at all! John insisted that I would be responsible for the costs applied to having a retest and the glasses changed! Up until this point I'd have been more that happy to simply get the situation rectified but Johns attitude and rudeness has infuriated me to the point that I am seeking advice from my lawyer on whether I'd have a case to sue Specsavers for the time wasted and more specifically the pain and headaches caused by the incorrect lens prescribed by Specsavers. I have been advised to get an independent check from 2 other opticians before I proceed with this case. I would like to emphasise that this would never have gotten to this point if John Cooks customer service had been better and he'd rectified the problem at the time. I must point out that John eventually did offer me a free retest admitting fault. However, at this point I decided that this service is not one that I want to do business with. Specsavers pride themselves on good customer relationships, that was NOT the service I was provided with.
