Great place to spend the day. Top floor in the main building is now open to the public - you don't have to be with a tour. Bison are out often, lots to do and see especially in the warmer months. Plenty of prairie, woods and an activity center. Plenty is off-limits, but plenty is open as well. Lots of sculptures and cool looking buildings.

The best place my first home in US. The place is quite lonely but there are lots of things to explore. You need an ID badge to get entry inside the campus. There are many lakes inside the campus with beautiful walking trails along the lake shores. There are plenty of deer's which can be spotted occasionally. Yeah one annoying thing about the campus is lots of geese which doesn't help to maintain the cleanliness of the campus. Overall I rate this place a good one to explore and enjoy.

Fascinating lectures were held here when I lived in IL. I went several times during the time period of 2010-2015. I would go to the Storm Weather Seminars with Tom Skilling here. Place was always clean and gorgeous. Was always exciting to learn more about the world and the science behind it all!

Super cool place. Free tours and they treat it like an open campus you can visit. There are many artistic things to see and Buffalo on a farm. Many beautiful views from the 15th floor where you can do a self guided tour for free. There are also areas to fish and walk your dogs.

Awesome spot. Went here for open house and it was a great time! They were super organized; I mean, go figure - scientists and all. The food they had catered was really good with vegetarian options. Busses ran quickly and everyone seemed to know where to go. I highly recommend!

What more could you ask for. The cafeteria was plentiful and delicious. The lecture that was given upon astronomy and cosmology was well done and well informed. And the public tour was even better. Unlike a lot of other laboratories, Fermilab is completely public towards people who yearn for more knowledge.

More people should learn about this wonderful place. I wish I lived closer to take advantage of the programs that they offer for kids. When we went in it was a self guided tour but you get a very good idea of what they do and why they do it here. A lot of advances in science have been made at this facility. It was also interesting to see the CERN remote control center. Very cool building as well if you are into architecture too. I would strongly suggest checking this out.

If you love science and would enjoy learning about a cutting edge physics research facility visit Fermilab for a tour. You don’t have to have a firm grasp of particle physics to appreciate the research being done here. You can marvel at the concepts of muons and neutrinos and have a delightful time exploring and discovering the latest contributions from this unique laboratory. Great fun for adults and curious kids.

Worth visiting just because how unique it is. Lots to learn, lots of events, some decent photo ops outside.

Such a beautiful place. The tour we had was really cool, and even if you're not fully informed on what goes on here, I would still recommend taking one.

Amazing experience. My guide was very knowledgeable and the science they do is very interesting. I pray that I can get an internship here. My only complaint is that it's quite far from my house.

Fermilab is a majestic place. The facilities and the expansive grounds evoke a feeling of wonder. What I most admire about Fermilab is that they continue to push the boundaries of cutting edge research. We're very fortunate to have a National laboratory open to the public (thanks to Robert Rathburn Wilson) ! One of the most exciting and challenging subjects they are working on is quantum computing. They have a large computing facility dedicated to this endeavor. Fermilab is collaborating with CalTech to merge the awesome power of quantum computation with the internet. This is a good example of a research endevour that would yield a novel utility if realized. It would certainly change the world. Meanwhile, high up on Fermilab's priority list is completing construction on the LBNF (Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility). The LBNF is the essential infrastructure for a greater international effort, DUNE (Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment). The LBNF/DUNE "will send neutrinos 800 miles through Earth's mantle to a former gold mine in Lead, South Dakota" (according to the official website). Further insight into the elusive neutrino is necessary to unify the standard model. A firm understanding of neutrino dynamics could present a number of utilities.

Very pleasant visit. The Wilson Hall 15 floor is open for the public even without guided tour. Everything is explained and displayed very simple and understandable. Especially for "genius" people like us :D .The bisons were very close to the fence and you can see them all. And if you want to see smart scientists this place is full of them :).

One MUST VISIT, the top floor to get a better idea of what happens there onsite.... it’s a very cool place to visit on any day but make an appointment to be part of the tour, it’s well worth it...

This place is amazing! Lots to do and very educational. There is a lot of ponds to fish in and lots of area to walk. The property is well kept and is very scenic. The main building offers lots of educational opportunities and the top floors provide a beautiful view! I believe you can get yours by calling to arrange this but I'm not entirely sure. I would love to go on one! I have been visiting this place for my whole life...back many years ago my grandparents owned a lot on the property...not sure how that works as for now the place is privately owned

Very very interesting. The second most powerful particle accelerator in the world after CERN. Everything is very well visible and explained from the Wilson Hall -15 floor. The only flaw is that you may feel stupid and mediocre especially among so many scientists :) One of the best attractions in Illinois. Everyone must see

Imagine a place where subatomic particles are being shot at the speed of light under your feet. Imagine where you can simply walk into a national center of excellence and immerse yourself with international scientists who are simply trying to understand how the world works. Imagine taking a walk around acres of preserved forest on trails where Bison are protected animals and being toured with pride by a local scientist explaining to you how our understanding of particle physics will change our lives yet again. Imagine where you can do all of the above anytime of the day and anytime of the year and know that the doors of science are always open to the curious human mind young or old. You would be in Fermilab.

Cool place to bring kids to learn about real life that doesn't involve video games or social media!! You can go in Wilson tower to top floor (15th) and on a clear day you can see Chicago skyline. They have trails for walking/jogging and bike paths too...

Federal owned land, public access. A lot of natural preserves on site. You can come here to see the buffalo(bison), take a bike ride, fish in the ponds, or just take a walk among the trees and grass. It's a fun place to visit.

I love Fermi Lab since our home school days. We came on a rainy Sunday because sister wanted to check out the bison. We did not find them but we found out FL has ASK A SCIENTIST every 1st Sunday of the month which is a free lecture plus a tour upstairs. We would have gone if we had the time.

Beautiful to bike through! The prairie is so serene. The path is quiet and well kept! The top floor museum in the main building is worth it once or twice to understand the types of experiments Fermi lab does and it's impact on our world. I am also a science teacher so I may be biased ????

Excellent public programming and grounds. Buffalo are a serious draw. The cafe is decent food, and it is relatively cheaply priced. The tours are good for all ages, and everyone there is pretty friendly. Unlike other labs in the area, it is pretty open and not a lock and key sort of affair.
