The worst experience I've ever had I accompanied my 82-year-old mother to this clinic and the doctor who examined her was very hostile and upset that she had to be patient with my mother. She told me that only young people can have surgery at their clinic and she made me understand that the elderly have no chance. Very very disappointed and I never recommend this clinic to anyone If I could, I wouldn't give it a star

I would have given them 5 stars but for the fact that during my first appointment, I waited three hours only to be turned away because they said they were ‘too busy’ in that afternoon! Coming from a family of medics, I understand the problems facing NHS practitioners and patients. So I politely emailed Optegra about this last minute cancellation and was immediately given another appointment. Considering the problems with COVID, they have been good enough to give me another final check up date for Optegra via the NHS. Thus far, the surgical treatment I have received appears to be fine. Hopefully my final check up will be ok too.

Expect to wait two hours for your appointment as both times we have had to wait at least this long. We were told after cataract op a follow up would be in 2weeks. However after chasing it up, it was actually 5 weeks and has now been cancelled due to illness so who knows when it will be. Very frustrating as can't drive until eye checked. If you ring you cannot speak to a human only leave a message. Would not recommend. It's a shame the management only comment here on good reviews. Shouldn't they be addressing the bad ones?

Don't waste your time honestly. Have been trying to arrange a check up appointment for over a week now and had no luck whatsoever, surely something so easy shouldn't be so hard.. They never answer the phone, when you speak to the head office they pass a message then someone phones you who has no clue what they are doing. I received 3 separate phone calls on Friday saying that someone else needs to call me back to organise this, it's now Tuesday and still nothing! Absolute disgrace especially after spending thousands of pounds! AVOID unless you want a poor service.

I had attended this hospital and initially had put a four star review, however due to experiences after my initial appointment I have decided to review them again , and change the star rating. I had to cancel a recent appointment , and left a message on their automated service, as you cant get through to speak with an actual person. Since then I have telephoned on at least three other occasions to try to speak to someone in person to arrange another appointment, but get an automated service each time. I have left numerous messages for them to contact me, but to date they still haven't returned my calls. After nearly four weeks of constant calls to their automated service and still not receiving an appointment I made a complaint after searching continuously to find a complaints department which appears to be non existent to find. I finally managed to speak to an actual person who assured me that I would be contacted within 24hrs with an appointment date and time. However I was contacted 7 days later with an appointment, and at this point I told the person that contacted me that I was so disappointed with the service that they provide that I did not wish to receive further appointments with them. I certainly would not recommend this hospital on the experience that I had

Dear Optegra staff You have now cancelled my follow up appointment number of times. I had to chase you for two months to begin with, for you to cancel a day before the appt. on the 15 January, reschedule to 30 January, cancel without letting me know and then send me a letter for 5 February (which I expect you to cancel by next week). I appreciate that I am only an NHS patient and I don't matter to you. I presume that's also why you don't answer phones to NHS patients and don't offer any email contact details. But please, have the curtesy to let me know if you have no intention to actually follow up so I can go back to my GP and seek another solution. You might perhaps be good to those with money, but for the rest of us, the NHS patients, you don't really bother, do you.

Just had cataract surgery with lens implant on both eyes and am absolutely delighted with the results. This is the most amazing surgery, I was naturally apprehensive but my recovery was very swift and clarity of vision restored in matter of hours with minimal discomfort. I started wearing glasses at age of 11 and wore contact lenses since 1971. I could never have envisaged being able to see clearly without glasses or contacts at the age of 65. This is due partly to advances in technology but mostly to the skill of the amazing surgeon who carried out the surgery. Thank you Mark Hulbert.
