My wife and I visited the store in search of a rain jacket. The 5 members of staff working made absolutely no attempt to engage us at any point in time during our 20 minute visit despite us being the only customers in the store - instead the entire staff stood socialising around the till.

The clothes are exquisite and timeless. The staff are the best; they encourage you to take your time to ponder and make your choices. They are always on hand to help you and to offer advice. Allow lots of time to go through not only the clothes but the fabulous household items.

Howell used to be my favourite designer, but I got tired of the boxy fit of the clothes, the shirts for instance have excess material in the back, not very flattering. The trousers too high waisted and roomy in the thigh. Shame because the vintage materials are the best, just the cut, it simply isn't flattering, not for slim people anyway.

I do not understand these negative reviews. I think the staff are friendly and helpful and the clothes are top notch. I have never found better made clothing anywhere in the world. I simply cannot comprehend why someone would think that sales staff are 'intimidating.'

MARGARET HOWELLの本店です。奥に細長いお店の中ほどには大きな天窓を設えた背の高い部屋があり陽光が射し心地が好いです。日本のMARGARET HOWELLと異なり英国製や大陸のヨーロッパ製が多く、日本のアイテムと似たデザインでも生地や縫製、型、サイズ感が異なる物があるのでその点だけご留意ください。特にシャツから始まったブランドだけあってシャツやブラウスのクオリティがとても高いです。家具や小物のラインナップが日本と少し異なり普段日本のお店を見ている方には新鮮に映ると思います。ファンなら一度は訪れたいステキなお店です。
