Staff very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Beautiful relaxing sea views from the front pub garden, and excellent tasting Bear Island beers....and that is all topped off with great service....... I'll be back!

Been there a few times, lovely location. Some arrogant vibes from the staff each time. We went to the monument pub beer garden not too far away and felt a lot more welcomed and relaxed

Stopped here for a drink in the front beer garden. A great location about the beach huts, overlooking Tankerton Beech.
They take Covid-19 regulations really seriously here - everyone has to sign-in inside for track-and-trace before being assigned a table. Then every table is cleaned before new people sit down. All staff adhere to this with a smile and are really friendly - well done guys ????????!
The interior of the pub is very spacious and the food looked good. Nice pint of Whitstable Bay - I would definitely return!

Came here on a sunny Tuesday for lunch. I wish that they had outdoor seating that was shady bit sadly they didn't so we sat just by the door in the pub area. We ordered fish and chips, steak, vegetarian burger and a chicken sandwich. The food was good and the portions decent - not too big or too small. We went to the beach across the street afterwards.

Had a meal here today.... it was awful..... we were sat outside on a table that was on a tilt when we asked if we could move we were refused as other tables had been allocated to people whom came in after us .... didn't really make much sense...
we were positioned with a group of fowl mouthed loud drunks .... the food was disappointing..... the toilets had no toilet roll.... after visiting a year ago and having a wonderful time I was very shocked to find the establishment had gone down hill.... such a shame.... Will not revisit again.

I guess this pub has been refurbished as it was much better since my last visit. Very busy, good to see. Very well organised with social distancing in all areas. Food good too.

Originally thought this was a lovely pub, then you are greeted with moody staff with no friendliness. A group of 6 of us who had just had a roast dinner inside, were made to sit separately outside and then were ganged up on by the staff members who would not allow us to move to a 6 person table that was FREE. They said it was not sanitary, however they were happy to have people walk in from the street and sit there. Also, they forgot to give us cutlery for our dinner and strangely added hard boiled potatoes to our roast dinner. Finally to top it all off they gave us a plate of veg to ‘share’, even tho they claim such ‘sanitary standards’. It is a great shame I can’t give 0 stars.

Fantastic pub. Food is amazing. We've walked in on Sunday without reservation. They managed to squeeze us in between other reservations which was great. Service was excellent. Well done.

Tasty simple pub food. We wandered for ages looking for somewhere and were so glad we found this place. Excellent service even though it was so busy. Covid hygiene systems seemed really well planned. Some kind of overbearing creepy attendees needed avoiding but they were harmless. Thank you so much we had a nice meal here.

The first thing to say is dont judge a book by its cover. Based on the outside we would not have gone in but based on other reviews gave The Royal a try. Inside we had a warm welcome and inside the restsuraunt was well laid out, inviting and clean. Drinks were well priced and food not particularly expensive. As we were only after a lunch time snack we had open sandwiches. Both were presented beautifully and tasted good although I would have preferred slightly less vinagarete dressing but thats purely personal taste.The portion of chips was really good ...4 stars for the price bracket.

Expectation vs Reality.???? I think the pictures speak for themselves, but ill share my thoughts regardless. I would strongly suggest giving this establishment a miss if your after a cooked meal, a key element could be missing (the being cooked part). I can forgive the missing olive croutons from my starter, which consisted of 4 small prawns and some pickeled onions in tomato sauce for £6.95 but a chef that sends out raw chicken and responds via the waitress with 'it was in for long enough' is unforgivable. Great if your after salmonella on a plate or a week or two off of work.????

What a lovely little pub. Very well located with an amazing terrace and a car park around the corner. The view from there is great. The staff was efficient and friendly, overall the place looked tidy. It's definitely a good place to go to.

Great decor and really friendly staff. The food is terrible as you can see my raw chicken supreme in the picture. I would have thought any chef in the world would know how to cook chicken. I think the title of chef must mean an unexperianced cook in this place. Such a shame because all the other places Shepherd neame have revamped are great for food. AVOID EATING HERE!!!!!!!!!!
