Went for an MOT. The guy on the desk is always nice, friendly and informative. I got a bill for a fair bit of work but i checked around and the price wasn't the cheapest, but it was close. Was happy to go ahead on account of the good service.

Booked and paid for an MOT online. Filled out all the fields, including the part which asks about the vehicle such as Licence plate, make, model, etc. When i arrived at the MOT center at the booked time i was told very rudely that they do not MOT bikes. Surely the website should at some point picked up by me filling out the required fields that my vehicle was a bike and not a car?! The website even quotes.... 'Enter your registration number and we’ll only show you appropriate products'. I am still waiting for a refund for the MOT fee.

Cantetbury 109 Great service and value for money. Staff demonstrated good Covid practices and I felt safe at all times. Dan in particular was very helpful and efficient and the car was finished early. Will not be my last visit!

Booked to have brake pads checked and subsequently fitted. Later informed the discs would need changing thereby more than doubling the price of the work. Vehicle had done only 20000 miles for a 3.5 yr old car. Requested they fit pads only but they declined quoting under the ‘brakes for life’ offer they wouldn’t do it. I stated I could opt out of this as I couldn’t afford their prices and couldn’t believe replacement discs were needed. They said they couldn’t do it?! I subsequently had them inspected at reputable garage and the pads were fitted. The discs had over 6mm remaining. Safe to drive. I’ve heard of other high street companies adopting this attitude but up until now I had had a good relationship with Halfords. Never again will I darken their door nor recommend.

Booked and paid for on-line to have car battery fitted. (You have to put car reg no in so it checks car and correct part needed). Cost £75 Arrived at booked time. Told to leave keys and go away for a couple of hours. No waiting area. No prior notice of this. After abt 20 mins had a phone call “The part you ordered isn’t the right one. - you need one at a cost of £440. We’ve got it here, do you want us to go ahead?” Yes, you read correctly. 440 instead of quoted and already paid for 75. Not interested that web gave details. Told very rudely. If you want money back go on-line for it. Told them to leave car outside and I’ll take it elsewhere Took it to cars main dealership where cost of genuine part was not a lot more than original quote. I feel like it was a try on to be bullied into paying a lot more as they had your car already. Will most certainly never try Halfords again for any works after this experience.

My MOT was due by 5th January and due to demands of my job and the current state of play with the Pandemic, I needed to get my Car MOT done urgently. I managed to get my Car in here at last minute. I was 5 minutes late due to access road being closed for maintenance. The mechanic still took my car in to do the MOT which at the time I was highly grateful for. However after spending 2 hours waiting around to receive a phone call to find out the results, I decided to approach the autocentre. The MOT had been done and the Car had Failed. I had anticipated this as my car was old but from past experience I was hoping to get the work done the same day. The mechanic expressed that he was unable to do the work today but if I got the car booked in for the repairs the MOT would be free within the 10 days. I drove home and called the Canterbury branch straight away to get the car booked in, hoping that I could get it sorted ASAP. I was told that they were not doing repairs at this time and that I would have to go elsewhere or wait until the middle of January!! I managed to get myself booked into the Thanet Halfords 3 days later but this also meant I was without a car for this period of time. I really struggled to get myself into work for these 3 days. When I finally got the repairs done in Thanet, the work in question was trivial and half the advisories/ majors were wiped off. They even questioned why it had failed. I struggle to understand why Canterbury found unnecessary faults with my Vehicle when they weren't even able to repair them. The same faults that a different branch within the same company didn't understand why they failed the MOT. I will not be using Canterbury Halfords again. Thank you Thanet Halfords for getting me on the road again, now I don't have the stresses of commuting to and from the Hospital.

Booked and paid in advance. 2 rear tyres. MOT and service. Dropped off 90 minutes early. They failed the mot on the rear tyres (the ones I booked in for) and then fitted the tyres and did a retest! Then comes the service. New pads and discs on the rear. No problem with that. But they had the car 6 and a half hours. Need to get a grip.

MOT was fast and have nothing but praise about that. Only there is no place to wait for the 1h a MOT takes. No area available except for the grass verge. In the rain! Maybe something to consider, still able for social distancing rules to apply.

Paul the manager right from the first initial contact when he called the day before my booking was incredibly rude. At the time of booking I was assured it would take an hour or two and Paul said the day before it will take all day, he constantly talked over me both on the phone and in store. Despite all of this and hearing others have had previous bad experiences at this centre i continued with the booking and had two tyres replaced. I asked Paul to confirm over the phone the efficiency of the tyres he was using, he told me it didn't matter and that it doesn't mean anything and they are all the same, of course not true as quality and price can vary massively. The rudeness was overwhelming. On collection of my car and after payment the invoice showed the choice of tyres and the efficiency was grade E not grade B as Paul has verbally told me there were over the phone. When I questioned him on receiving the invoice he told me again it doesn't matter and that I must have misheard him, I absolutely did not and now have tyres I did not want or expect and much worse quality than what I would choose for my car, almost the worst quality tyre there is. Paul simply said he just serve another customer during my questioning of his error and said he can take the tyres off. Absolutely shocking behaviour and treatment and such a shame as I have used halfords for repairs for years (ashford branch) and now have to travel there because of the obvious incompetence of Paul and the canterbury centre. Awful.

I like this autocentre, the guys in there seem very helpful. I had to have a new wheel cylinder after my mot because the service break had seized - a couple of weeks later the footbreak on that wheel didn't sound quite right so I took it back and it just needed cleaning where they had fitted the new cylinder - they did this free of charge as part of their free break check (anyone can book one at any time)!

Plus, I inquired about an AC recharge and after being told the price the guy at the desk could see I was dithering about whether to get it done, so he told me that as I didn't really need it yet (it was February), I should come back and get it done in the Spring. Nice to know they're not simply about getting my money off me.

MOT organised during lockdown so a big tick for that. The downside is that they told me I needed four new tyres when I only needed three and they damaged my car's front bumper and claimed it was not them. The before and after photos were not supplied. So, all round, works done but not a great service from a rather surly foreman.

I use this Halfords Autocentre regularly. Very thorough examination of the car during service; and recommendations made, which I accepted. The staff here are always attentive to detail and safety, which is reassuring. They also go the extra mile, with a smile. One of the rear parking sensors had detached from its bumper housing and was loose inside the bumper (meaning every time the car was placed in reverse, the proximity warning would sound immediately). This was rectified free of charge during the service, plus some loose soundproofing in the front passenger footwell was fixed back in place. Impressed, yet again. Thanks to the team for always making the effort, it is appreciated.

Great place to order tyres from. Mine ordered online, where you choose the day and time. Drove in and they had watched, so my two tyres were already being taken down front shelf to fit. My details, vehicle etc. were checked and then my car was driven into workshop for tyres to be fitted. Clean waiting area with seats and coffee/tea available. I went to visit bathroom shop while waiting. The tyres were fitted quickly and efficiently. Pleased with service, would recommend.
