Had my bike converted mid July. Since then, I have notched up over 1,200 miles all across the downs. The conversion has been fantastic and has changed my cycling experience beyond measure. Fully charged, I can do a 40 mile off-road trip and still have near 50% charge remaining (utilising the battery sensibly). Darren's enthusiasm, expertise, workmanship, advice and customer service were superb and I recommend him to everyone that expresses their interest in electric bikes.

I bought a conversion kit form Brighton e-bikes and fitted it myself with lots of help form Darren. He was really good at pointing me in the wright direction (what bike to choose, breaks, wheels, suspension or not...). He has a lot of experience with electric bikes but even more with bikes themselves.
I commute 20 miles daly on this bike and love it! More smile per mile as he says :)

I ordered a bling ring for my e bike which arrived promptly, however I had carelessly ordered the wrong size. I contacted Brighton e bikes via email to explain my stupidity and ask if I could exchange for the correct part. All correspondence via e mail was replied to in good time and exchange was completed with no drama. Thanks to all at the store for great service, I would not hesitate to recommend and use again

His enthusiasm, attention to detail, and total committment, has given me a wonderful responsive quiet machine. It will surely increase the distance that I can travel in the future. Very happy with the conversion of my Specialized Crosstrail. Due to health reasons i find the longer rides tough and keeping up with my friends hard. My first ride after conversion was a revelation- 28 miles - no problem! It was like i was a turbo charged version of myself. I realised how i had stopped enjoying cycling but this totally changed things - i can't wait to go out again. There are 9 levels of assistance and you can choose what you require- i generally kept it in the middle and was rewarded with 86% battery level at the end of the 28 mile ride!!
If you are thinking of getting Darren to convert your bike don't hesitate- he is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and takes you through the whole process.

The kit and after sales support are 5*
I bought the kit after having certain health issues, this was over 2 years ago.
The motor is still working fine, only one slight problem after it came out of warranty, but Darren resolved it without question.
Since then he has answered a number of emails in a prompt and constructive manner.
Am now thinking of kitting up another bike with the same motor.
Very happy customer.

Dealt direct with the man himself... Darren. Bought parts for existing ebikes and I’m after another motor when his stock comes in. I’ve also been down to his workshop with my bike. Competitively priced for his time, totally loves bikes and his work and I can verify... 100% legit! He’s good with returns when things aren’t up to spec as I’ve had to take a problem part back. I mentioned to him that’s it’s good we have businesses like his which are customer-centric and focus on a niche of what we want and not what greedy corporations are directing us to buy! They have their place too... but Darren’s business is a great and very personal place to start if you want to convert your bike or need advice down the line whether or not you bought from him originally. Honest review from a pleased customer! And he definitely didn’t bribe me to say this... he’s still gotta pay the bills man! Cheers Darren!!!

My wife and I went down to Brighton e-bikes and met Darren who gave us an extended test run on converted e-bikes including a particularly vicious hill. This confirmed to me that this was the way to go. I picked a conversion kit up to fit to my Boardman Team hybrid and put it together the next weekend. Easier than I thought, though I did ring Darren a couple of times to to double check some things. I am suffering from restricted lung capacity which meant I could not cope with the hills in the North Downs where I live. I can now! I am now back riding on runs with my cycle club and looking forward to a trip to France soon. Having 9 levels of assist means I can put as much or as little effort in cycling as I want. i am trying to use the minimum level in order to build up some stamina and am already noticing the improvement as just being out on the bike is giving me exercise. It is nice not worrying about the hills ahead as I ride as I can just turn up the juice and get up them easily.
Darren could not have been more helpful before and after buying the kit. There are other suppliers and fitters out there, but I doubt that they could manage a better service. Even Brighton e-Bikes web site is inspirational. i am well pleased and if my wife wishes to go electric, we will go to Brighton e-bikes again.

Was honoured to have one of the first of Brighton E-Bikes' conversions. Since then I've been using it to ride 10 miles to work in Lewes from Hove regularly. The battery has enough capacity to easily propel me for the 20 mile round trip. It gets me to work faster while still giving me some good exercise but without feeling like I need a shower at each end of the journey.
As well as commuting I've had plenty of other jaunts around town and into the country.
The system's performed faultlessly since the conversion.
I know Brighton E Bikes are passionate about what they're doing and have relentlessly researched their products (you just have to read the blog for proof of the ongoing research). With a lifetime foundation and interest in general bicycle technology and maintenance combined with a firm belief in the possibilities that the new E Bike technology can offer, I'm sure that they are offering the best products for converting existing bikes in the UK.
No problem recommending to all.

I was beginning to find the hills in Brighton too much and was not riding my bike as often as I used to.Since Darren of Brighton E-bikes fitted my Bafang electric motor ,my enthusiasm for cycling has returned and I look for any excuse to get out. The conversion was carried out with meticulous attention to detail and Darren was always aware of my hope that my much loved bike would not be altered in any way that was not strictly necessary.I was particularly concerned to keep the overall weight to a minimum.The changes in appearance are negligible and the bike still weighs less than eighteen kg.As for the hills, no problem at all.At first I was unsure if having my bike converted was a good idea but my questions were patiently answered and Darren's calm ,professional approach soon convinced me.Best biking decision for years.
If you are thinking of an electric bike Brighton E-bikes is the place to start your search.I cannot recommend them highly enough.At 75 I feel I've been given a new lease of cycling life.

I purchased a 36v battery pack from Brighton e-bikes. Having had a bad experience with a battery from an ebay seller I wanted something UK based which had some technical backup attached. I was really pleased with the product when it arrived, such a big difference to the other unit i'd had. Darren is clearly an enthusiast who really knows his stuff. Whilst I did the conversion myself and only bought the battery, Darren spent a huge amount of time providing me with technical advice and guidance. Top class customer service with an assurance that everything has been tried and tested so you know it's going to last.
Update march 2019. 15 months later 3000miles on my BBS01B and battery I bought off Darren. Still coming off the charger at 41.8volts, no noticeable range reduction.
Update June 2020. At 5500 miles now on this pack I've noticed some reduced range now. I still use the pack for daily commuting of 14 miles, however I've a new pack that I use for weekend trekking as a replacement now. But wow, 5500 miles through rain sleet, snow and hot summers and still usable. Totally paid for itself and only achievable with genuine cells.

Darren is a friendly and knowledgeable man who is obviously passionate about bikes AND e-bikes. Most shops I've been in only do one of them, but he's very good at adapting the kit to an existing bike because he understands both.
The service is quick and painless, the communication was very good and his advice proved correct, so I can definitely recommend Brighton E-bikes to anyone wishing to convert their bike to electric.

I had occasion to visit Darren at Brighton e bikes this week , the man is a true professional , ive been to all the local bike shops with the same technical problem and got absoloutley nowhere . But Darren at e bikes solved it in minutes . Not only that , while i was away on an errand Darren took it upon himself to undertake vital maintanance on my motor possibly saving me hundreds of pounds and adding to the life of the motor . As i said ive been to many " professional Bike shops" in the area recently But Brighton e bikes stood out for its honest , professional , service and its old school value for money . Thanks Darren
