I have been with Brockwell veterinary surgery for over 20 years, Jenny is so professional and caring and has always given my dogs the best treatment she can offer. Her team are so caring and dedicated. I would always recommend Brockwell veterinary surgery. Thanks for all your help over the years. Well done to all the staff.

I don't live near Herne Hill, but was there the other day and bought a cat lazer pen that didn't work and wasn't given a receipt. Took it back this morning but the lady at the door wasn't able to offer a refund, despite speaking to the manager on the phone. A bit disappointing that they'd stock malfunctioning stuff and wouldn't be at least a little flexible about offering a refund or a straight swap on a Sunday.

We have been using this vets for 13 years and have nothing but kind, considerate professional service from them. When we lost our dog earlier this year they were very sensitive and made a difficult experience as easy as possible. All the vets are very good and the vet nurses and assistants so clearly love animals and are friendly and helpful.

Took our cat, Bella in with a suspected tooth ache and eye infection. Poor thing hadn't touched any food or water for a couple of days and was drooling badly and her left eye was half closed and weeping with crud....She really was in distress. I took her in first thing in the morning and she was quickly examined and diagnosed and given an injection of pain killer to ease her suffering. She was booked in for the next day for an operation to remove the suspected tooth. It turned out that two of her teeth needed removal, both molar teeth, one top, one bottom which are difficult to get out as they are quite deeply rooted and as a result, she needed to stay in over night to be monitored and cared for whilst also putting her on an I.V. Drip to get some fluids back into her as she was dehydrated. She came home after a day and a half at the surgery and the results were miraculous. She was a lot calmer, eating her food again and seemed to know that she'd been helped. She had been a very nervous cat in the year that we had her, not vicious, but not a fan of constant affection...Probably due to her last owner not treating her too well before throwing her out on the street to fend for herself...Then I came along and took her in. On coming home from the vets, she couldn't get enough of us. She's made a full recovery, including the eye which has cleared up completely and she has a completely different personality....Always friendly, always affectionate and she hasn't lashed out since she got home over two weeks ago. I can't thank the veterinary surgeons and receptionists enough for their help, speedy service and, most of all, giving our Bella nothing but the best care they possibly could. People always complain about vet bills being high...So what?...If you can't afford it, either get insurance or don't have a pet. Part of the owners responsibility of having a pet is making sure you can afford it first. If you can't afford vet bills, then for the animals sake, don't have a pet. I didn't question my bill or was really bothered. All I wanted was for that poor cat to be out of her pain and misery and to be enjoying it's happy life again, which it is....And what price can you put on that? Whatever the cost, I would've found the money somehow. Remember, you're not just paying for a loose tooth or a sore paw, you're paying for their ten years in training and experience too when it comes to paying your Vet so if you do get a pet, make sure you get insurance straight away, it's not expensive or at least put a few quid aside just in case your little pal gets poorly and needs urgent treatment...It's the least you can do as a responsible owner. Thank you all. Bella is still doing fine, full of beans, eating all her food and busy being a cat again exploring her territory outside and enjoying lounging around inside too....Usually on either mine or the wife's lap!

Brockwell Veterinary Surgery & Pet Store always take great care of our turtle, Hermes. They are professional and give great advice and all the staff clearly love the animals they are looking after. I have 100% trust in the team there. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

Overcharged us, kept us waiting an hour when we had booked appointment, zero customer service and empathy, gave advice which led to cat pooing outside litter tray 2x until we went back to how it had been previously. We will be looking elsewhere. We are new pet owners and need to trust our vets not think they don’t care and just want to make as much money from us as possible. It’d be zero stars if that were possible!

FANTASTIC service, I have 3 cats and I would not go anywhere else or trust any others vets to look after them, they are very friendly and reasonably priced.

Beware of this vet practice! ZERO STARS. We have a dog and usually use the Neighbourhood Vet in East Dulwich, having had negative experiences of this place some years back - over-charging, lack of empathy and so on. We recently rescued a feral kitten and because of lockdown and no car decided to try this place again, perhaps over-optimistically thinking it may have improved over the past ten years. I sent them an email asking about price of vaccination, microchipping & spaying. It all sounded very reasonable and there was no mention of possible extra costs, which quotes from other vets did. So we went ahead with the vaccinations (my daughter took our kitten as I am currently guilt-trip shielding due to cancer) and apart from trying to seriously pressurise and guilt-trip her into buying their worming and flea treatments which we didn't need as we had already bought our own, it went well. Come the day of spaying, the operation went well, but when my daughter picked her up she was charged extra, she was told 1) because our kitten had apparently started ovulating (at 4 months) just as they operated, thus making the operation more complex 2) we were forced to buy a cone, which we could have supplied ourselves had we known beforehand. Regarding 1) we should have been told beforehand that this might be a possibility. We had budgeted very carefully for the spaying and this has set us back. The worst thing is I have now written to the vets twice and they have not replied at all. Very different to when we asked them to quote, when they answered within hours. Being transparent about costs up front is a basic trait of any ethical business and Brockwell Vets is definitely not one of them.

We have been with Brockwell Vets for over 8 years now and have been extremely happy with the service provided. They are professional, friendly and very caring. Appointments are always available on short notice even in emergency situations which we actually had few times and our cat was seen on the day. Upon arrival for our appointments we have always been given options on the medications and treatments our and their costs before proceeding further. They also offer great variate of toys and treats for all types of animals at reasonable costs. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Always had a good service, very professional and kind. My only complaint is that I had to put my cats to rest. She was 18 with a tumour. She lost so much weight she couldn't survive an operation. I was obviously distressed. However, I was asked in the same breath about cremation, home burial, etc. I had to stop them right there. I told them to give time to digest what's happening & I will get back to them. I made my arrangement 2 days later. Can I just say that our pets are part of our family. Please give us the option to discuss now or later without feeling rushed. Other than that I would give you 5* +. You will always be my vet.

I have been with Brockwell Veterinary Surgery for over 14 years and I absolutely love them!!! Everyone working there is warm and friendly and they genuinely do love all the animals as much as their owners and I cant recommend them enough!!! Even when I moved out of the area, I stayed with them because my Border Terrier Spudley trusts and loves them!! I have just adopted a new rescue pup from Romania and will be registering Pringle with them too :)

Fantastic vets. They came to my house and gave my 2 dogs and 3 cats rabies injections and passports. I was worried it would be stressful on my pets, but, it couldn't have gone smoother. All animals happy and ready to move abroad. Price wise fantastic l. Thank you so much Brockwell Vets your amazing ????

They really don’t understand dogs, especially if they have behavioural issues. And they’ve made my dog very afraid of all vets now.

Yeah, unfortunately I have to mirror a number of other negative experiences about this vet. We helped out rehoming a cat recently and a week after it being handed over we arranged a medical check up and neutering with Brockwell Vets. As we had taken the cat in out of charity we were offered free neutering under the RSPCA program. We were told that the cat would be given a full check up prior to neutering. During the appointment the vet was very rough (unnecessarily so for this cat as he is so relaxed and docile). Her manhandling of course distressed him. The appointment was very rushed, you didn't feel listened to and you felt that there was no compassion or care. After leaving the cat in the practice's care to be neutered we felt very uncomfortable and arranged to have the cat transferred to a different vet to have the procedure completed before anything had begun. However, unfortunately, the cat had already been fully neutered by the time we were able to initiate the transfer. The nurse however seemed very pleasant and gave good advice. The issue is mainly with the demeanor of the vet (and possibly the appearance, hygiene and facilities of the practice.) They initially requested card payment only due to Covid-19 and then upon settling the bill their card machine was not working and so I have to reattend to settle up. Have immediately de-registered.

No idea what the bad reviews here are about. I like this practice because they have been quick, efficient and on point when I took my dog for a visit, and the vets are excellent. There's also a good selection of toys food and accessories that beats any other store in the area ????

I wish to thank Jenny and her team for the excellent care they provided to my dog from the very beginning (as it was an emergency) to the very end, when we popped in to remove the staples. For anybody who values honest and professional care I truly recommend the Brockwell Veterinary Surgery. All the doubts I had were explained, even over the phone when I called. I think we were really lucky to find the surgery, plus the costs were only a quarter of how much we would have to pay elsewhere. I was left with the strong impression that they care more about the animals welfare than money which was very pleasant and refreshing. I wish there would be more places with such a strong ethics.

We had to take our cat urgently for a consultation because he was having trouble breathing and his back legs were not working properly. We were treated incredibly well by the whole team - they assessed him really quickly, realised that he needed an urgent X-ray and diagnosed his problem in about 30 minutes. Sadly his condition was terminal and so, after discussion we decided to have him put to sleep. Out cat and ourselves were treated with the utmost respect throughout. During the procedure the vets explained everything that would happen and allowed things to progress at a pace that was comfortable for all of us. The team made something that should have been terribly traumatic something that was calm, gentle and dignified. We are so grateful for their support and calm expertise and cannot not thank them enough

Great veterinary practice, we feel lucky to have such an excellent team of vets and nurses close by. We always receive excellent caring. They always explain very clearly what the problem is and offer sound advice and after treatment service with regular updates as to how my cat is recovering. All the staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I have recommended this practice to many of my friends and family and will continue to do so. Loved the location too, dropped in on my way to work and then picked them up on my way home:)

I don't often write reviews, but I wanted to share the fantastic treatment my dear dog received from all at Brockwell Vets. Harper suffered from diabetes and from the moment of her diagnoses Jenny the head vet looked after Harper's needs in every way possible, from explaining to me her owner the whole experience of being an owner to a diabetic dog, through to emergency treatment when she needed it, & even phone calls from Jenny when she was on holiday, to ask how my dog was doing. I 100% trusted Jenny and the wonderful Nurse Joanna with my beloved dogs treatment, all the staff at Brockwell got to know us both very well. Jenny looked after Harper from 12 weeks old until she sadly passed away last week at nearly 11 years old. The care & huge support from everyone at Brockwell Vets for both of my dogs and myself as their owner was seconded to none, I would highly recommend them and most certainly register any future pets I have again with them. Thank you Brockwell Team for everything. xx

I've been going to see Jenny for over three years now since moving to the area and always found her to be very helpful, kind and caring. Our cat hates going to the vet and isn't particularly forthcoming with treatment, but Jenny always does a great job of getting everything done as quickly and painlessly as possible. I'll be continuing to go to Brockwell Vets whilst we live in the area and recommend her to anyone!

I have been using this practice for 8yrs after having had a range of bad experiences in other practices. The service is truly exceptional, they are really taking excellent care of my pets and they also run an emergency service which I have had to use a couple of times . I do not know of any other vets in the area that see their clients out of normal hours. They are really attentive, pragmatic and will be honest with their diagnosis and your options at prices that would be lower than what you would expect to pay. I have recommended them to all my friends.

Recently visited with one of our cats as an emergency and the care we received was fantastic and very efficiently given. We are not registered, although we live very close, as my husband previously looked at reviews and decided against it, however we found the negative reviews didn't reflect our experience at all. We will be switching permanently and are a little bit regretful that we haven't been using this surgery all along.

I have been bringing my cat to Brockwell vets for three years, and they have cared for her well, including performing a major surgery (for an issue caused by malpractice at another practice) and treating many small complaints. The receptionists have always been helpful and friendly, and my cat's vet Jenny, who owns the practice, on one occasion came into work early on a Saturday morning, when ill with flu herself, because my cat wasn't eating or drinking, which I think shows a lot of professionalism and kindness. The times when the cat has had worrying symptoms, she has always been seen within a day at the most. The vets aren't as cuddly with the animals as at the last vets I went to, but my experience has been that they're thorough, careful and professional, and that's what matters. I'm really pleased with the practice, the level of care seems consistent and good, and I definitely plan to stay with them in the future.

1 review 5.0 star rating 18/4/2016 I just don't know where I would be without this veterinary surgery! I have been with them since they first opened and over the years they have saved out cats lives and supported us through on going conditions which have allowed us to manage these with success. The surgery is friendly and all staff really care about animals. They go above and beyond their duty of care, and are always friendly and welcoming. We moved away three years ago and still chose to travel to this surgery since we really don't want to take our animals anywhere else. I recommend this practice wholeheartedly, and feel Jenny (the owner and our main vet) to be the most fantastic vet I have ever come across. I trust this vet surgery 100%.

I have taken my cats here for almost 20 years. The practice has become more commercial of late and possibly less personal than it was when I first went there, yet the service is still perfectly good and the team are more than adequately competent. I think the advice always has to be the same regardless of the vet: if you don't have insurance, costs can spiral so just be sure you understand and agree to any treatments that are recommended for your pet. In my experience with Brockwell Vets, I have always been sure that the wellbeing of the patient is foremost in the team's minds.

I've had a very good experience so far with Brockwell vets, my dog got attacked by a cat and they opened up just for me at 11.30pm on a Saturday night. They have been very caring and efficient during treatment for this and other issues. I would recommend.

We love Brockwell Vets, they've always treated us with care above and beyond their duty. The desk staff are always chatty and the vets really care. We'd been with our last vets for 14 years and we're so delighted to have moved to them, nothing is ever too much trouble, we'd really recommend them.

Our cat seems to be finally on the mend, physically at least. We have eliminated everything and now have it narrowed down to behavioural problems for her condition (I won't bore/upset you with the details!). The last couple of visits especially have been really helpful. I liked that we had a follow up call after our cat was recently seen to, to see how she was getting on and didn't mind at all going to a follow up appointment for the same reason. It made me more comfortable in knowing my pet is in safe, professional hands. The staff there are lovely too. They have to put up with me regularly shopping there for cat food and I never feel like I'm a nuisance.

The low ratings of this practice seem harsh but after my own experience at this practice , I understand why. The vets' skills are rudimentary at best and there is no compassion or concern for the animals. Cat owners beware! The main motivation is making money and this is done in whichever way possible. The premises are shabby and need a good clean. Not the sort of place you would associate with treatment and care of animals. Find another vet, there are plenty that are kind and competent.

We took our German Shepherd to the surgery for an emergency consultation this morning as he became very lame over the weekend. Contrary to some of the reviews I have seen here (notably from people who don't appear registered at this practice) we were very happy with the service we received. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming in spite of the fact that we had no appointment and were not registered at the surgery. We were seen quickly and the vet was very compassionate with Kaiser, being careful to not subject him to any unnecessary pain during the examination. He was diagnosed with a suspected infection in his paw and prescribed antibiotics. The bill was very reasonable and we were so happy that we will be moving vets to make these guys our regular choice. Quite concerned to see several reviewers complaining about being "upsold" flea and worm treatments. Any vet worth their salt should check that an animal they see is covered and protected so they don't suffer or spread disease. If you object to having that pointed out to you, you should consider if you should be keeping animals at all.

My cat went in for a simple spaying procedure, she suffered greatly for 2 weeks. She wasn't given any pain meds, nor antibiotics (despite swelling of the area) Also the incision was large, and it was done through her abdomen. Staff are friendly, and kept asking me to come back with my cat, but I'm afraid the vet wasn't as cautious as I would have liked her to be. I've done another spay else where, I paid much less, I went home with pain meds just incase the cat needed it, and the incisions were tiny, and weren't done through the abdomen. I'm never going back to that place again. :(

I came to Brockwell vets shortly after my little Rottie was attacked by another dog with a bloody and swollen ear/eye. I was still in hysterics when I arrived and fortunately the receptionists were very comforting. When we went in to meet the vet she spent all but 3 minutes with my pup, giving her a quick injection and prescribing antibiotics. I was very concerned that the other dog nearly took her ear off but no warmth/understanding was displayed on the vets part. She asked no questions about the attack and did a less than decent job at reassuring me that everything was okay. I was very disappointed with this visit as not only did it cost 100pounds but I left just as clueless and sad as before I arrived.

Jenny has been our family vet for a very long time. We trust her as she has treated our pets for small and big complaints and we are very grateful for her care. The part-time vets are lovely too. I was not going to write this review because all the people I know in Herne Hill have Jenny as their vet but I was astonished about some of the negative posts. They look like they have been written for a difcerent place and not for the Brockwell Vets that we know and love. It makes you wish there was some kind of regulation of the reviews. I strongly recommend Brockwell Vets to all pet lovers even if you live far away!

Very very bad vet. She's only interested in money and very rude. She lied about treatment and tried to con us out of more money. I would not recommend her and take her to another vet. She's evil, does not care about the animals. I strongly advise not to go to her if you want the best treatment and advise for you pet. She nearly had our dog killed and if it was not for another vet he would of died because of her lies.
