I don't usually leave reviews but thought I should on this occasion. The fabric I ordered was beautiful; exactly as described, and even the colour was spot on, same as it looked on my screen. The fabric arrived quickly and was nicely packaged in tissue paper and brown paper bag (no plastic) I look forward to ordering again from Ray Stitch in the future!

I normally buy in their shop but due to the current situation had ordered online. I bought a cotton fabric, which is as on the website, prefect colour and fabric. It came next day. Only paper envelopes were used, great: No plastic.

Quirky little shop with nice eccentric staff to match. An eye catching array of printed materials as well as an onsite tailor and every haberdashery item you could imagine. They helped me find what I needed (buttons and thread) and the price was very reasonable. All that was missing was some background music. Anita 'O Day would match the atmosphere..

I changed my initial review as on a recent visit, everyone was very helpful. On my first two visits I did not find the staff all that friendly and I had some issues online and in the store with the cuttings (not along pattern or grain line and wrong length) and I swore I wouldn't go back. But it is a nice little store with lots of stuff. It's so much better to be able to see and feel the fabric than buying online. A bit pricey, but it's handy. Thanks for responding so quickly to my earlier posting, happy I came back!.

I agree completely with the customer who experienced coldness from the staff. I have spent, with reluctance, considerable sums of money in this shop in the past, and at their former address. Why? because it is not far from where I live. Ray Stitch advertises sewing accessories and my attempts to buy a sewing machine lower bobbin case yesterday, 12th June were met with derisive scorn, and I was questioned as if I did not know what I was asking for. The staff seemed to be pleased to tell me they did not have this item. I was told they varied in size, and when I mentioned one is known as Universal, no reply. There was only arrogance, not "I am sorry but we don't stock this." I will not buy from this shop again.

Ray Stitch is one of my favourite places in London. Not only is it stocked with beautiful fabrics, including ranges suitable for upholstery, dressmaking, tailoring and quilting, it has been thoughtfully designed and combines the charm of a haberdashers with the bricks and mortar experience of a fantastic online shop (and Ray Stitch also does online sales extremely well). They have a fantastic pattern room where you can recline on a sofa as you contemplate your next project as well as a fully equipped sewing studio where they teach a really wide range of classes for everyone from the absolute beginner through to the sewing expert. The staff are really knowledgeable and genuinely interested in what you’re making - quick to help and also ready to stand back when you just want more time browsing the fantastic fabric collections. I cannot recommend Ray Stitch highly enough. It is a jewel in the crown of London’s crafting scene and an absolute must-visit for tourists and Londoners alike. Go visit!!

I did the beginners course with Jess - 6 weeks was the perfect time and I felt like I learned loads and having somebody show me how to undo my mistakes was invaluable. I would really recommend it not only as learning a skill but also because of meeting new nice people and Jess as a teacher was great

Lots of fabric, good haberdashery. However, the staff, with the exception of one person, is aloof. The staff's general coldness makes me hesitate to do business there. It's really unfortunate as it's such a nice shop. I do go in occasionally when I just can't bear to purchase something online. Most people like this place though. I've just not meet any particularly nice or welcoming staff. The sewing community is general quite friendly and warm, so Ray Stitch's aloofness and pretentiousness is surprising. Oh well. Go for the stuff; ignore the people like they'll ignore you.

I signed up for the six week sewing course, I was a total novice to sewing, never touched a sewing machine in my life. Within only six weeks I have become a sewing enthousiast and learned so many new things on how to cut fabric, making my own piping, sewing cosmetic bags, a handbag and hold-all. My friends and family are all impressed of how much I have achieved in such a short time. I can highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to try out sewing and learn a lot of basic skills fast. The team at Ray-stitch are fabulous, I had a great time and looking forward to my next courses.

Ray Stitch has the perfect balance between jaw-droppingly gorgeous fabrics to useful every day bits! I’ve recently had the pleasure of completing 2 courses there and loved every minute of them - come pay day I hope to book another! Couldn’t recommend them enough.

I love in the South West so purchased from this company online. I bought the most beautiful bamboo silk from here recently and not only is it gorgeous, it arrived in super speedy time. As did the second lot when I bought more! This was my first time buying from Ray Stitch but I will definitely be doing so again and will definitely visit the real shop if I'm in the area.

Couldn't disagree more the last reviewer .... my experience of the team at Ray Stitch is that they know a lot about what they are selling, give informed advice and are consistently helpful.

The store itself is beautiful - wonderfully organized. There's a room just with books and patterns, and I loved that there were sewn samples of some of them that you could take a look at. The selection of notions is great. I found the staff to be kind of cold and impatient, but I came home with some lovely poplin so I'm satisfied.

Love their pattern room! Really helpful and inspiring to have so many sewn-up samples in the shop. The member of staff who served me was chatty and helpful, took an interest in what I was making and offered good suggestions.

Hate to do this as I very rarely give one star, but the staff in this place are unfortunately very very rude. I went to the shop looking for over 25metres of fabric, so was actually looking to spend a lot of money. I asked the member of staff (hidden away I a back room) about a sample labelled organic linen. She screwed her face up and told me they didn’t have any and actually that the sample wasn’t even organic. She took no time to ask about my project and actually, if she’d offered me an alternative, I would’ve happily spent lots of money and ordered 25 metres. Instead, her eye contact didn’t leave her computer the entire time and she offered zero assistance. Reading the other reviews here I can see I’m not the only one with this experience, so I’m actually glad I didn’t spend my money at this particular small business. In the words of Pretty Woman, “you work on commission right? Big mistake. Huge!”

Best fabric shop in London, with a great range of sewing classes. Friendly, interested staff as well. It's the type of place you want to pop into every week to see what's new!

I get it that the lady was serving another customer but didn’t even bother to say hi or acknowledged my presence for 20 min, I seriously thought I had turned into a ghost. I knew I wanted something out of the ordinary, so, just to inform everyone, this place has very ordinary stuff. Nothing wrong with that, but not what I was looking for. I told the lady what I wanted after 20 minutes and she dismissed me immediately telling me to go Soho. I guess that’s what I’ll do.

BEWARE actual colours can differ markedly from the screen. I asked for a sample of blood moon mineral and was told I couldn't have one. After discussing the orange red colour I was happy that it would be the correct colour, it was; unfortunately when I mentioned the blue main colour I should have been told it was green and not blue as it appeared on the screen. I will not be ordering any fabric again without a sample!

Earlier today I accompanied my mother to Ray Stitch since she wanted to buy a few things and had been looking around for a haberdashers. Easily found on Essex road, the whole shop has a really nice atmosphere. Lots of lovely printed fabrics, some of which are Liberty fabrics, trimmings, buttons, needles, embroidery thread, ribbons...every thing you would need to make pretty clothes. I noticed also that you can take sewing classes, which is great because after seeing all the nice fabrics one might want to know how to turn a piece of cloth into a beautiful dress. The ladies working there were also super helpful and although I don't sew, I might find an excuse to come back to the shop...even if its just to buy some grosgrain ribbon! :)

I’m so unimpressed with the customer service. If I didn’t have over £100 of vouchers left I wouldn’t come again. I don’t appreciate patronising assistance from staff. Edited 13/10 after being contacted by the store owner I returned to the store. There has been a change in staff and Orla who I dealt with was incredibly helpful and I will be back in the future for the wonderful fabric on offer.

A lovely little fabric / haberdashery shop with a small cafe built in. I've only had coffee and a cake there once but both were tasty. Mostly I'm there for the fabrics. They are one of the fabric shops I've found that stock some of the Japanese fabrics that can be difficult to come by but they also just have a selection of some nice quality fabrics. Their remnants bin isn't the cheapest but they do have some fun bits in there on occasion so still worth a look. The staff is helpful if you have questions though I have some of them may not be able to answer some of my questions.

Great little shop near Angel. Has lots of fabric (I got a heavy Alice in Wonderland fabric for a floor cushion!), trims and buttons. You can sit and have a cuppa and a piece of cake too whilst decision making. They have patterns too for budding seamstresses and they have also started running little beginners classes. Remember to nose upstairs and down.

I had a very good experience in the shop. I loved their fabrics, they have a nice selection of books to browse through too, quite a few sewing patterns and basically I walked off with everything I needed for my new skirt and my new lovely upholstery fabrics for the chairs... which look beautiful btw. I read some earlier reviews about the staff so I came in thinking that I’ll be neglected or disappointed. How wrong I was. The staff were polite, no chit chats about pointless things but to the point - I liked it. The lady was not sure when I asked some questions regarding the right fabric so instead of leaving me with no answers she just checked it in their website and I got my answer. I’ll definitely come back.

Such a lovely little shop and cafe. They have a selection of fabric which is hard to find elsewhere including designer quilting fabrics, Japanese fabrics and a range of organic fabric. Downstairs is a teaching room where they hold workshops and classes. I can never go there without stopping for afternoon tea - they have a nice selection of cakes to choose from although space to eat it in can be a little cramped.

Very rude staff. They lie and do not answer the phone once they know your number . I waited for a phone call all day in order to get refunded. They do not want to refund me which is against law. I ordered organic cotton fabric which arrived different from photos, stinky and with hair on it.

I love this shop. The staff are wonderfully helpful and experts in helping you find new uses for the amazing range of fabrics and haberdashery. There are more rolls of fabric lining the staircase. Downstairs is a beautifully equipped studio where you can learn all kinds of sewing skills. they even serve coffee and cake!

I could spend hours in this gorgeous shop - everything just twinkles and shines like Christmas all year round. The fabrics are beautiful but slightly on the pricey side. They've stopped serving the coffee and cake, which is a shame, but with more room for fabrics, threads, buttons and appliqué, who could complain?

A fabric-tastic place selling patterns - Indie and traditional - haberdashery, and fabric (Japanese, knits, linen, and more). And the icing on the cake (or should that be trimming on the top?) a range of classes are offered too - from beginner through to pattern cutting. Prices are on par with other sewing classes in London (at time of writing I'd taken a dressmaking class), and all the supplies can be bought onsite too! Can't wait for a return visit! The question is "will it be for a class or purchasing more sewing goodies?!" Thank you to all the staff for a sewing-delightful experience!

The Fabrics are ok , however I was more concerned about one of the staff members she screw faced me and looked at me and then told her colleague or staff "her hair is a mess " I found this to be racist and very offensive . I don't know if she was management because she looked like an older white lady . Customers service in there is horrible , I was not given many options for samples and was told that I can only get one type of sample and even if I was to pay for it , I still wouldnt be given a sample of any other fabric .I enquired about silk material to the older lady (around her 50's) she looked at me as though I was some sort of alien or something, and was just conversing with another customer about things that had nothing to do with the services they provide at Ray stitch .
