I've been with Dr. Schwartz for over 10 years. He is amazing, caring and the best vet I have ever encountered. He is extremely knowledgeable and keeps up to date on all of the latest pet medical information. He also spends quality time with you and your pet whether it's about wellness or illness. His staff is detail-oriented, friendly, caring and thorough I never have to worry about my dog when I bring her there. Overland is the best.

To Dr. Flanagan and the entire "team Jasper" from our visit yesterday: Thank you so very much for your patience and accommodations for Jasper's annual visit yesterday. When the pandemic began, I thought for sure that this would all be over when this January rolled around and Jasper needed his physical. I'm not very religious, but what's the phrase? You make plans and God laughs? So that happened! Dr. Flanagan, you're just the best. Thank you for always returning my calls, and making sure Jasper's anti-anxiety meds dose would work for his solo visit. To you and the entire lady team yesterday, thank you all for making sure that only females worked with him. This truly makes such a difference. I know he was stressed while inside, but he was a happy little boy as soon as he was back in the car. After years of practicing, "good things happen when you visit here, you won't die", he can easily recover after a stressful visit inside by himself, and I saw that firsthand yesterday. This is light years ahead of where he was emotionally when we adopted him four years ago (he would previously hide in a corner and tremble, with a long recovery time). While he'll probably never *love* his vet visits, your compassion and kindness go a thousand miles for him, and I applaud you all. Keep up the incredible work, and I can't wait to be back inside to visit you all. Thank you so very much, again :-)

I just had my dog at Overland for 2 days of treatment for pancreatitis - it was a little scary that she could get so sick so fast, but Dr Schwartz’s staff was great & they took excellent care of her. She is so much better now! They were all very caring and helpful - I’m very grateful!

First time with this vet and I am impressed with their responsiveness and follow through. You can tell that they've thought through the details of the "customer experience." My puppy got his vaccine and we are planning on being customers of this vet for a long time. We've had 2 other dogs and so far this is the best experience we've had with a vet.

Let me give you an overview of how our appointment is going. For reference, we had been here 6 months ago and I assumed the disorganization was due to covid restrictions, so I had forgiven it. I should not have, because today: 1) they thought my cat was supposed to be a dog, despite seeing her 6 months ago 2) they had not saved the medical records I provided for my cat, nor the ones from her previous visit 3) despite offering a flea shot last visit, they now say flea shots aren't a real thing 4) they have asked, and we have answered, the same set of questions 6 times. Several of our replies were "the cat had fleas last week and we want to make sure that the store medication got rid of them and the cat is healthy". This was also said when setting up the appointment. When we ask the vet for her opinion on the fleas near the end of the appointment, her reply was "Oh, did they have fleas?" 5) Them: Do you have your pets yet? Us: *on the sidewalk, clearly sans pets* No Them: Ok we'll get your pups! (We have cats) 6) Them: "Sorry, we don't have your card on file." Us: "Yes, you do" (and wouldn't you know it, they did) Update: After the appointment and back at home, I'm petting my male cat. I feel something on his ear and pick it off. Can you guess what it is? A FLEA. The incompetence at this vet is truly amazing.

I have been with Overland Vet for a few years now. Daisy's (my dog) original vet was Dr. Flanagan, who recently moved. We are now seeing Dr. Lee and are very happy with his care. Daisy had a procedure, this week. Dr. Lee was wonderful. He phoned me right before the procedure to let me know how she was doing. He phone me after the procedure to let me know how things went. He texted me the following morning to check in on Daisy. Because of Covid restrictions, pet parents are not permitted inside the office, so I am very appreciative of the updates. The front office is very busy but still courteous and I never feel rushed.

Overland has a special place in my heart b/c they brought me and my dog together. His previous owners brought him in (2015) b/c he was hit by a car. They couldn't (or wouldn't) pay for his surgery and asked for him to be put down. The vet who saw him refused b/c they weren't life-threatening injuries. The owners agreed to surrender him and his surgery was performed with the help of Cagefree K-9, who eventually took Max in. I adopted him in December 2015; he was perfectly healthy (aside from missing his tail) and happy and I can't imagine my life without him. I recently took him to Overland for a teeth-cleaning with anesthetic. The whole process was so smooth and quick. Everyone I communicated with (phone/email/in-person) was helpful and professional. Dr. Lee called me afterward the procedure and explained everything and they gave him a complimentary nail trim. Dr. Lee even called the next day to check in and see how Max was doing. Really happy with my experience there and don't plan on going anywhere else.

My senior pup injured herself and we hadn’t established a vet here in CA yet. I called and they were able to squeeze her in the next morning. Everyone I dealt with was very kind and professional. I will definitely be back- but hopefully not for an emergency visit.

Both of our dogs love seeing Dr. Park! She is always thorough with all of our options, including the cost of individual items so we can make informed decisions and we are never surprised by the bill. The office staff is also helpful and responsive. Making appointments is easy, as is ordering treats or other things online. Also, each of the vet techs seems to love their job. During COVID, they have implemented a great system for curbside check-in and remove examinations over the phone with the doctor.

I'm glad for all the people and pets who had good experiences here but this was by far the absolute worst vet experience I've ever had. This place had us waiting with our cats for an hour and a half before EVEN GETTING SEEN! To compare, no other vet visit has taken me more than an hour TOTAL in my life. So, to start, the whole visit took about two hours. On top of that, the bill was insane-- the lab prices are through the roof here compared to other vets I've seen (as someone who has had over 10 cats/dogs in my life) and the quality of service clearly doesn't warrant the price-- my cats were more scared coming out of this place then I'd ever seen them before and I've travelled cross-country with them (they have pretty thick skin) so I'm assuming the doctor care wasn't top notch. Also, the main thing we brought our cats in for was to get them micro-chipped which, after the entire visit we got a simple, "Oh, sorry, we forgot to tell you we ran out of micro chips..." GOOD TO KNOW... Finally, when receiving the bill which was well over $400, we were a bit shocked at the price and simply asked to make sure the micro-chip wasn't included and we got a huge amount of sass from one of the workers there (who I didn't get the name of but can unfortunately only describe as the woman with two sleeve tattoos) So yea, it hits all the criteria of a horrible place-- expensive, keeps you waiting, bad service, rude, etc. It's too bad because this place is the most convenient for us-- literally 2 minutes away from our place-- so I almost want to give them one more chance but at the same time don't really trust them anymore...

I've been bringing my family pets to Overland since I was a little kid of 8 years. I'm 32 now and my wife and I come to Overland for our 3 cats and pup Archer. They are super busy, and sometimes things get chaotic there, but that's because a lot of people know that they're the best in LA. They're worth the wait! Love you guys!!

My cat gets very stressed out and anxious any time he comes to the vet and Dr. Schwartz and the rest of the team do *literally* everything to help him remain calm. I'm grateful for this team and their willingness to work and get creative with us. I am also surprised at the affordability. Truly cannot recommend enough.

Dr. Schwartz did an incredible job taking care of my rabbit. It’s clear he cares a lot about the animals he treats. He called twice to check up on Audrey HepBun after her surgery. Overland Veterinary Clinic is the best in LA both in terms of care and affordability. Take your rabbit here. ????

From my only experience here, I don't have any complaints. I called in the morning to see if I could get an appointment but they told me they were booked, but that they'd leave a note for the doctor to see if I could go in. Within 2 hrs I got a call back and was told I could go before 3pm. This was on a Sunday. I did have to wait an hr in the car but I understand that they're really busy on the weekends. The staff really is working hard and as fast as they can to help everyone. I unfortunetly had to euthanize my dog, but their pricing was reasonable. I only paid $259 here, while for my first dog I had to pay over $600 at another clinic. The staff was really caring and helpful.

They do accept walk ins which is super cool!! The office is really clean and unique. We loved it here. Prices are extremely reasonable and everyone is very friendly. They discuss your treatment plan and options and explain everything that is going to happen and give you an invoice to approve before. No surprises! Will definitely go back to here for our kitty from now on. Love this place!

I had a great experience at Overland Veterinary Clinic. The receptionist and staff were very friendly. They do make you wait in your car due to Corona but I am grateful they put the animal’s health first by not having people come in. It was just a check-up for my kitten and the whole process took less than 30 minutes. I understand some wait times may be long but all vet clinics I called were booked up to a month in advance. I guess this is due to the influx of adoptions. Hope this helps!

My dog has been a patient at Overland Veterinary Clinic for quite a few years, and I have always been impressed by the high quality of care. I have been especially impressed with the care provided during the public health crisis in 2020. Everyone had been very careful and sensitive to today's needs. Highly recommended!

I've been bringing our pets to Overland for about 20 years. They handled our dear old dog's euthanasia very compassionately. We've always appreciated that they have weekend appointments at non-emergency prices. Currently, Dr. Varayo is working closely with us to control the kidney disease our almost 17 year old cat was diagnosed with about 6 months ago. He has improved consderably! Dr. Varayo is great, always takes as much time as needed to listen to our concerns and answer any questions. We also really appreciate the compounding pharmacy next door. Our cat does not tolerate any pills or liquids by mouth, we just can't get them down him. But the pharmacy is able to put many of his needed medications into a cream that we apply to his ears and it is working wonderfully. So glad to have an option. Thanks Dr. Schwartz and Varayo... and all the doctors we've seen over the decades!

I’m only giving a 3.5 instead of 5 because the front office staff is horrid. They are rude, delayed in getting back to customers, they are not about providing good customer service or being kind, just doing whatever is quick and easiest for them. I’ve walked in the clinic before and asked for help and not one of them look up to address your existence. The care team however has been great so we continue to go for that reason.

Used to go here back when I lived in LA. Called recently to retrieve my pets medical records and was surprised by how snarky and condescending the receptionist staff was. I did get my issue partially resolved, but the experience was off putting enough to warrant a review and allow parents making a new choice in veterinary care to be aware.

I've been taking my dog here for almost 10 years and now that their business is doing great they turned out to give you the feeling it is now the classic hypocritical show where they are very fast charging your CC but extremely slow doing their job. This is very disappointing because their doctors are actually good. (I changed this review from this point on later on) I truly do believe that the doctors over here care about your pet but the flaw, in my mind is at the front end of this clinic. I am not sure if they are understaffed or inefficient, but there a lot of room for improvement in managing the flow of information, such as passing messages to doctors or coordinate with pharmacies. Dr. Schwartz is a true animal lover and I would never imagine he would underperform at the front end of his clinic intentionally to the detriment of your animal, so I really hope he will accept my modest opinion as a good advice to make things better.

This place had my wife wait out in the heat with the dogs for 30 min after being told to show up 15 min early to the appointment on September 5th, at 2:30pm. She called 5 times to check in and sent 3 text messages to let them know that: she arrived, that she could come back if they are late, and that she's leaving. I also called several times, left a message and the rest of the time the line was busy. Anytime someone came out they didn't check her in and just said "soon soon". After that they avoided eye contact and didn't even offer our dogs water. I got through after 30 min and the receptionist had a bunch of excuses claiming that if she was really there she would be checked in by the people outside, etc. Clearly they don't have a system for check-in and quickly blame the customer. My wife actually left for the safety of our dogs by the time they answered my call, because she couldn't get through. When she did, she let them know she's cancelling, because of not being able to get through for so long and being ignored outside. The same receptionist got mad and hung up before she finished asking about the cancellation policy, and when she called back, the lady picked up and hung up immediately. I see that the owner responds to every bad review, so to you owner, instead of an excuse of your staff being so great normally, it's busy and stressful times, or the customer should have done something more, I find a reasonable action would be to have a conversation with the September 5th receptionist that was there from at least 2:15pm through 2:45pm. In other reviews your customer service is your #1 grievance. I'm sure anyone who takes their dogs here gets the exact care we had to experience, and not just with receptionists. If you are too busy to keep your appointments you can inform people that you are running late and not have anyone sitting outside for so long, let alone telling people to show up early, especially if paperwork is already submitted. If your answering system is incapable of handling check-in, there should be manual check-in with someone sitting at the empty desk at the front door or retraining of staff on how to communicate with customers and not overbook. At that point, people are just a revolving door to you and the care clearly reflects this. How could you claim to care about animals if your team is so willing to let them wait in the heat? COVID or not and your "impossible circumstances" are no excuse for the rudeness because your staff can't handle it being busy. If you are running behind let people know, especially the ones without access to a vehicle.

Best place to work! I learned so much and met one of the most dedicated staff in my life. Great veterinarian and technicians as well. Dr Schwartz and his team of veterinarian are warm hearted, educated, patient and 100% dedicated to there job. There isn't anything they cant do for you. Please Overland Vet Clinic is a winner for ever! Just ask there clients. Moreover there front desk receptionists are a hard working group of employees. A family oriented clinic who will treat your pet (family member) just as there own. You can't lose with Overland Vet Clinic. (This comment is solely from experience).

Service is fine, lab prices are very unreasonable compared to other vets. More than triple of other vets. $50 for parasite test at my old vet (and others I checked) $180 here, so that’s $100 vs $360 for before and after. Ringworm test $45 at most vets(I called other vets after the fact), $170 here. List goes on. Follow up: it’s now been a month since visit and no improvement in dog. I’m waiting to receive a response from emails I’ve sent. I have now gone to another vet who diagnosed the problem as a result of rabies vaccine given at this facility. This was not even brought to my attention as possibility even though she was bald at the injection spot. After giving antibiotics prescribed here and spending $250 for a visit and test not needed here plus $50 for examination elsewhere, it now appears to be result of vaccine administrated at this clinic. Because of covid, I was not able to be with her during the vaccination to see if it was administered correctly w accurate dosage. She now may be bald permanently.

ORIGINAL: 10/2020 Called in and made an appointment for the next day. Came in early because they told me I would have to fill in paperwork. Since it’s COVID, they make you call in to check in because you can’t go in. The problem is that they only have 5 people working the phone and seems to have booked 20 other people for the same time. So the phones aren’t available. When I got through I was left on hold for over 20 minutes unable to check in. The staff seemed rushed and stressed. No way to talk to anyone. No point in making appointment since they won’t honor it. I get that it’s COVID, but the disorganization for a service you are paying for is horrendous. The only positive aspect is that once you are finally able to be checked in, the Doctor is actually quite friendly and helpful. Would have been a great service if they figured out how to honor their appointment times. UPDATED: 12/2020 I have upped my rating of Overland Veterinary Clinic. Their phone support continues to be an issue, and haven't returned back to see how their response time with appointments are, HOWEVER, I have found them to be considerably cheaper than any other vets around - which is very important to me. I was quoted $400 at PetSmart vet and Overland Veterinary Clinic was only charging me $100 for the same service. They are also friendly and helpful when you finally can get to them on the phone. I rated them low on my first visit due to my frustration, but they are a solid establishment.

I usually don't write reviews, but I should of done this years ago.I have been going to Overland Veterinary Clinic for about 20 years for my cats. I have been to a few clinic before, but was not that happy with them. I was referred to Overland Veterinary Clinic by a good friend. The friendly staff and the knowledge by the doctors there is the best. Dr. Schwartz who is the doctor I see. Once you meet him you will realize you are in the best hands. He is super smart , and a wonderful person to do business with. After one visit you know that you can't do any better than Dr. Schwartz. If this clinic moved two hours away ,I would travel to this office. If you are in need for a Vet, I highly recommend this clinic. I would give this clinic 10 Stars if I could. If you need a vet don't miss out on this place. You can't do any better.

I truly feel lucky to have Dr. Schwartz as my dogs veterinarian. I think the day I found him, years ago, was my luckiest day. I love my pets, They enhance my life and bring me so much happiness, in turn, I try to provide them with the best life possible and that means a healthy happy life. Dr Schwartz and the staff at Overland veterinary clinic have helped me in so many ways and given me peace of mind. Thank you so much- everybody at Overland , if you are reading this and I definitely recommend this clinic. As a matter of fact over the years I have recommended this clinic to at least a dozen friends and neighbors and everyone has been happy.

We made our first visit to Overland in June to check the health of our rescue cat— he was lethargic, wasn't chewing easily, and had bald patches. After the exam we were sent home with a few prescriptions and 'he's fine but old' verbal summary. I thought it was odd that we didn't get more of a report... After requesting twice, Overland finally sent his records to me via email and there were zero notes (just a photocopy of the flea/mite prescriptions) —which shows that the exam was either rushed, incomplete, or generally not taken seriously by the veterinarian. A month later our cats health started to decline more noticeably so I took him to another clinic. The new vet immediately noticed a large mass in his stomach (obvious to the touch without an xray) and a number of other issues. Unfortunately, it was too late and we had to let him go. Our cats condition was likely fatal before we made the first visit to Overland. However, I can't help but think we could've saved him suffering and gotten a little more time together if the Overland Veterinary clinic was more thorough in their exam.

We were in LA for the holidays when our dog got sick. Overland Vet had the best timed appointment for our urgent matter so we went there instead of emergency pet hospital. Dr. Verayo was Super caring and sweet and worked with our travel schedule when it came to our dogs extensive procedure. Her treatment plan was thorough and appropriate for our dogs case, which I’m extremely thankful for. Even though it was hard to determine a diagnosis for our dog, She followed up with us the day after which was helpful in determining our travel plans revisions. When it came to front desk, the staff was hit or miss, mostly misses. They were super busy on the day after Christmas but dealing with them was a huge hassle. I wouldn’t go here again based on the front desk staff. Plus they charged me for something I didn’t go home with. Service matters to me save your money & go somewhere else for a thorough veterinary experience.

I had an appointment and had to walk a ways to the appointment, consequently my cat and I had to sit outside in the July afternoon heat. My poor cat was in a crate directly under the sun. We had to wait outside because of covid, of course. We had first time client paperwork so I came early to fill it out. I gave it directly to an employee. After my cat and I had been waiting over an hour I texted them and asked what I was waiting for because I understood if they were so backed up due to covid, but I was worried about my cat escaping into a busy Los Angeles street and also because she had been in a hot crate for over an hour. They told me they were waiting for me to text them that I was done with my paperwork. I told them I handed them in person half an hour ago and my cat had been sitting in the sun for an hour now because of their miscommunication. Absurd, dangerous and unacceptable.

Dr. Schwartz, I was just reading reviews and came across yours and saw your reply “ HI David - I am the owner of Overland Vet Clinic and I appreciate all feedback from our clients. Some of our lab prices may be higher than other clinics, but there are varying degrees of tests that can be run. You specifically mentioned a fecal parasite test - there is the old way of doing the test which is called a fecal float and that is a less expensive way of testing but also does not find all kinds of parasites and is a very basic test. We use a PCR method (similar to the COVID ones being run currently) and it is an extremely thorough, accurate way of testing. I think what you will most likely find is that there will be a difference in prices from clinic to clinic, but overall the prices will usually even out as they may charge more for something as where it's less expensive at our clinic. In any event - it's a good thing that there are many quality veterinarians in the area and i'm sure that you'll find the one who fits your needs. Best, L.A. Schwartz, DVM” It started off great, explaining why the prices might be higher. Then you summarily dismissed the guy complaining from your clinic, as if you complain and we are going to kick you out. It definitely lost all sense of understanding and wanting to learn and communicate. I have heard that for every person who takes the time to comment 100 more are already thinking the same thing. As a prospective client I would choose to avoid a clinic where I think the owner might kick me out if I said something he didn’t want me to say. I don’t want to feel like I am walking on egg shells where my dog’s health is concerned. I gave 4 stars because I’m not here to mess up your rating. I am just expressing feedback on what I read. And I know as a service providing professional myself, it can sometimes feel like if you don’t appreciate and value everything I do, then go find someone else. I guess I am talking to myself, and all professionals out there. At the end of the day, I know we do our best.

I have been taking my pets to Overland for years. Prior to that, I had hit every other vet from West Hollywood to the beach. I grew up on a ranch and am cognizant of the vast differential in skill sets that animal care professionals bring to the table. Dr. Schwartz is a gift. The perfect temperament for a vet, backed up by a tremendous wealth of knowledge. The only downside issue that you might encounter is his popularity makes it challenging to get an appointment on short notice.

This place is a godsend for anyone with delicate pets like I do. They’re so much more reasonably priced than other vets (looking at you VCA) and the staff clearly loves animals and are kind to both pets and their parents. It gets busy on the weekends and the lobby can get a bit chaotic but definitely worth trekking all the way here from Santa Monica because of both the service and price.

If your pet is sick take it to hospital, save yourself money on doing tests twice. This place is good enough to give shots and do regular check up. We had no problems with that. Clinic owner(he is supposed to be the best they said....) prescribed my cat steroids when it clearly showed enlarged heart on X-Rays, miss-diagnosed him with bronchitis... we took my pet to hospital and they immediately took him off of steroids and put him on heart medication. Front desk and doctors are hit or miss.

We have been coming to overland for over 15 years. Dr. Schwartz is a fantastic vet and he is running a huge operation, so sometimes you get a rude new receptionist or a vet that is new and doesn’t do things the way Schwartz or any of the other long time vets at the clinic would do, it happens. Flanagan is great, Forthsite (spelling it wrong) is fantastic and Park is good too. I was just there last week with orphaned kittens (rescues) for deworming and the vet I saw didn’t even charge us for the visit, I just paid for the medication. I didn’t ask her to do that, she just did it. These are good people. I fully trust the team hear and we have been to other vets. Sometimes you have to wait, if someone has an emergency, a pet that is being put to sleep and your just there for routine shots, yes your going to have to wait. Someday you might be on the receiving end of that need. Great great place, thank you for the years of giving the best care to my animal family.

Friendly, inexpensive, fast turnaround time, attentive, and experienced. I've given up on most services in LA (dentists, doctors, etc.) because I've run into a lot of hacks, inefficient offices, incredibly expensive and unnecessary bills, etc...but make no mistake about it, Overland Veterinary Clinic is different. If you live in the area, want quality care and a painless experience, look no further, OVC is the place to go.

This has been our regular clinic for almost three years though we moved out of the area two years ago. Today one of our cats was going in and out of the litter box several times and when I called to ask about the behavior, I was told to come in directly and to consider it an emergency. (My coworker had recently told me about her boy cat having urinary tract blockage and that it's life-threatening.) As soon as I arrived, the carrying case was taken and within minutes I was told that there was no blockage but that they'd keep him for testing. I'm super thankful that they were so concerned about seeing him immediately and making sure I was updated about the process.
