Obviously Pets at Home is a huge chain of stores, unfortunately I have had mixed experiences in various different areas.
Loughborough however is probably the worst I have been involved with. Upon visiting the store to purchase some chemicals, for a clearly suffering fishtank, I was told to "not bother" as it is normal for a fishtank to be cloudy and to instead wait 3-5 days. Having followed this advice, within 2 ALL my fish died! I called the store and asked for the manager who was unapologetic, showed no sympathy nor offered compensation for the dead fish. Infact the manager (Charlotte) said "that was spot on advice".

Really disappointed yesterday. We entered the store and sanitised our hands while wearing face coverings but were told we weren't all allowed in (1 child and 2 adults) yet there was a couple in there with a child ???? I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and find going in to shops on my own very hard so I go with my partner and obviously we can't leave our 10 year old son in the car or at home. I'd understand if the store was busy but there was only the 1 couple in there with their child. The members of staff were gathered together as well by the door, not socially distanced. When we were leaving the car park we noticed that another couple were entering the store and were not questioned when entering. So from now on we won't be using this store.

Friendly staff and well stocked. Worth going to see the shere amount of food available for your pet. Worth signing up for the vip card for the discounts it offers aswell.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Hand sanitiser is in the doorway and social distancing markers on the floor. Would be 5 star if they had all the dog coats in various sizes, I don't really want to order on line.

As close to an old school pet shop as you can get with many pets in store for you to see before you buy.
We had a great experience today as we bought fish for my daughter, the chap who served us was really knowledgeable and helped us pick out what we needed and checking costs I feel we got good value for money.
We wouldn't go anywhere else ????????

Not somewhere I generally go if wanting pets due to a bad experience years ago, however, went to look at fish for my daughter and spoke to Andy, wow, what he doesn't know isn't worth knowing. Amazing service and advice. Will definitely be returning and good to have my faith in pets at home restored ????

Very annoyed after going all the way down there after work to buy some fish only to be told the fish aren't available for sale, I rang the day before and was told they were available to purchase, think the girl in there was more interested in chatting to her colleague than being helpful to customers!! Useless!!!

I recieved such bad customer service from the Pets at Home in Loughborough. I was wanting to buy some pet rats to add to the group I already had. Explained to the shop assistant the research I had done, all she said was "My manager will kill me if I let you do that", she didn't explain what was wrong with my research or what the Pets at Home policies were. Then we later found out they only had male rats, my group at home were all female. All the pets at home that I could get too in the area only had male rats, which i find off... do rats only give birth to one sex at a time?! (Obvs not). Never going back there again! They have lots what could have been a really reliable customer.

Don't buy tropical fish from here!!!!!
We have a very well established tank had it for over 15 years, with some tetras that are about 2 years old. We bought 6 cardinal tetras and 2 wood shrimp from this store 3 weeks ago and they were all dead with in 2 weeks not only that we then lost 4 other fish that we had had for a long time. We can only think the fish from pets at home had a disease that has now killed other fish and the fish from the store so don't buy from here as they don't quarantine their fish.
