Great venue for both gigs and club nights. Always got a great got a great spread of genre's booked throughout the year. A little small but that mainly just adds to the intimate feeling inside. Can't wait for Patterns to reopen!

We did a cocktail making class here and it was brilliant, we had so much fun(if give that 5 stars). The guy who ran it was fun and knowledgeable without being pushy- on other hen dos I've been on the person running the class has pressurised people into doing shots etc but he didn't do that. We all made 3 cocktails each and got a shot of tequila so it was good value for money. We were in a private room and got given a bottle of prosecco as an apology for them getting the time of our booking wrong.
4 stars given though as the bar itself was SO slow at serving. Easily waited 30 minutes or more to get served, and although it was busy it wasn't packed. Toilets could also have been cleaner. Music in the evening alright but not my thing

As a venue, it's a mix. Oddly shaped, with a giant pillar in the middle so most people can see half the stage. Plus the bar had all the more interesting taps closed. That said, good sound and a decent size (neither huge nor tiny).

For those who knew Brighton a few years again, Patterns took over the space at Audio. Situated to the left of the pier opposite the sea life centre, the bar offers beautiful views of Brighton Pier.
We were lucky enough to nab a spot on the large terrace area, which is perfect for big groups. From 2pm DJ’s were playing, the sun was shining and I felt like I was on holiday!
The bar inside is large and spacious and makes for a great dance floor! Fridays at Patterns is Foundations, a night focused on the local scene and UK sounds that explore everything from Grime to UK Hip Hop, Bassline to Jungle. Entry is usually £3/5. Saturdays at Patterns appeal to a wider market of sounds, with disco, house, techno & electronica being the predominant genres.
Make sure you check out the 241 happy hour deals between 5-9pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays! What a winner.

Been to some fantastic gigs here. Been twice to see one of the best new punk groups in the country, Brighton based SONS. Also the bar and cocktails are very good especially in the summer heat.

My partner and I sometimes have a bit of trouble when we go out together but last night at Patterns restored my faith in Brighton clubbing. The clientele were super friendly and we both loved the music, bar staff lovely also. It has an old school vibe and the people there were just about the dancing. There was no trouble and we both felt safe. Thanks

I was here for The Great Escape festival. Good venue with both upstairs and downstairs set up with some great artists. Standard price for drinks. The toilets are pretty rank, but no worse than any other club. Good location near the beach. And I think it stayed open later than a lot of other venues during TGE.

It's a place with a lot of potential - I come every few months on night out, as there will be a good DJ playing that I wanna see. A good night it's turned mediocre by the layout of the downstairs part of this place, which is just not suited for club nights that it holds. Unless you are standing in front on the DJ then it's not worth it. That being said, the upstairs but and the Smoking Area are both really good places to hang out when you're on a night out, but just a shame the downstairs let's it down.

Been here loads. So glad the sound for PP Arnold was so good as often the sound here is pretty ropey due to the low ceiling methinks. Short staffed at the bar meant getting a drink was not fun. GAH!

The venue is good, sound system good, bars good, food good, serving staff good, security staff good, acts booked very good.
Hopefully good managment of the venue will sort out some issues.
As per other reviews the stairs have no banister (breaks regulations) stairs have missing and loose stair edging so people keep falling down them. Set times are not published. The venue closes too early for me when a good act is on but had some great nights here.

Terrible experience. I've been to patterns before and it has been 'okay', music's alright but is a small venue. But the past two times I've been have been terrible. The last time I went, me and 7 other friends entered paying £8 each. Once we were inside, it was absolutely empty, baring in mind this was the day before Brighton pride and it was fairly late in the night. We hung around for bit and it didn't pick up. Music was terrible aswell. We decided to leave and I asked for the manager. I just explained how it was empty and we'd like a refund, considering most other clubs do refund you if this happens. We'd only been in for less than 10 minutes. The manager went to speak to someone. After waiting for around 10 minutes, she comes back, says "no refund" and walks off. Very unprofessional and terrible service. Being students, £8 for an empty club is very frustrating. I know myself and my friends won't be going back.

Was excited to see Zebrahead on my birthday so travelled to Brighton from London to see them instead of attending the London gig and looked forward to seeing them in a new venue as I have seen them over 20 times now in several different locations.
The opening band sound was sent up for the bass to be so loud you could feel hair and clothing move as a result the sound level were completely off for Zebrahead with vocals being hard to hear.
There was a lot of violent fans with many people including myself being punched even though I was standing at the back away from the mosh pit.
Security was doing very little about this and just told people to stay away from the guys doing this and acted as this was just part of the gig.
I have been going to gigs for 16 years and I know what is accidental knocks/moshing and what is violence
At the end of the evening one girl was sat on the floor in tears as she had been punched in the spine. This is not normal behaviour for the fans of this band.
The beer was London prices with it being over £5 a pint and i drank maybe 1/4 of it as it tasted dirty and had a stale smell to it so i'm guessing it was a old barrel and dirty pipes.

We were here for the DONUTS night and had our nights ruined by the overly rude bouncers and members of staff (excluding the lovely people on stamps). When they took our alcohol from us at the start which was a gift and a very expensive bottle, they promised they could return it at the end. But every time I went to speak to them about it the bouncers would ignore me and not tell me anything before telling me at the end they threw it away. I've seen other people on here complaining about rude security staff so hopefully this issue gets sorted out ASAP.

A nice place for an afternoon drink in the sun, half decent outside space but is right next to a main road. The food isn't anything to write home about but you can get a decent cocktail at a reasonable price. A great place if you're into house or techno but the crowd is usually very young.

I remember when this was a little gem called Audio. Used to come here all the time, was cheap entry, reasonably priced drinks, good vibes. Since the re-brand it went from one of the best places in town to one of the worst.

Club is very weird. You get that roadman vibe and the music cuts very often and doesn't let you jam well or get the feel of the best before it switches. Two bars but the one upstairs doesn't serve alcohol on some occasions , but is the bigger bar of the two so it's just confusing . The only perk is that if you are close to the speakers and getting your ears blasted, they might give you a donut if the time is right.

Great small live venue with upstairs bar. Went to see band. I'd suggest removing the crash barriers at front of stage. Bit odd! However, due to steps up to seating at back, you can get a good view of the acts. Bar upstairs was cavernous, playing awful lift dance musak .

Recently saw Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs do a set here. Really great layout for a venue, right on the beachfront. The outdoor seating has excellent views of the pier. Decor at the ground floor bar is really nicely done, giving a great atmosphere. The basement club is a good club. Small but sweet. Want to visit again!

It's a nice enough venue but the security when I went there were grabbing young students by the neck and throwing them out, twice I saw this on different nghts and they had done nothing wrong, I'm a chronic pain sufferer and witnessing this all going on while sitting up at the back of the main room, I've DJd in Brighton for over 20years this guy was a roided up thug, never returning. This happened last year but still had to get this out as it upset my night.

I've come here for gigs a few times. The sound is quite good. It's a weird layout but it's quite good for short people as you can stand on the stairs on one side. Toilets are clean. Drinks are overpriced. I think they do club nights here too but I've never been (at least not since I was a student).

Sick venue, but more importantly I forgot to pick up my bag I handed in when I left and the staff, Ruby in particular, was incredibly helpful in corresponding with me to make sure It made it back to me (as I live nowhere near brighton). Very kind service.

We had a private function here, and absolutely loved the venue! Open and spacious top floor bar area, combined with quirky and intimate downstairs area for live music/djs.

Seemed ok here.. the night we went there was an oasis tribute band downstairs which was excellent. The upstairs wasn't very busy but we did leave around 10pm so probably was a bit early. The toilets are not great which is kind of normal for this type of establishment, very dark inside.
A bit of light on the mirror would help because you can't see anything in it so is pointless being there.
Bouncers and bar staff were friendly.
