Beautiful garden style cemetery. Very quiet once you get in further away from the road. It has curving pathways that separate the groupings of stones. There are many large and beautiful tombstones and mausoleums within and it's a nice place to go for a walk. I like to read stones randomly and think about how that person's life may have been at that time. There are some tombstones of founders of Hamilton in this graveyard as well, and if you google some names you come across, there's some interesting history to read about. I've heard this is the site for some of the Hamilton ghost walks in October as well, but I've never personally attended one yet. Across the road there is much more parking at Dundurn castle and it's grounds, which is also fun to include in the walk.

Nothing but history here. The remains of many well known, not so well known and infamous people are buried here. Of peak interest is that the remains of William Winer Cooke are buried here. He was the 2nd in command (adjutant) of the 7th Cavalry, under General George Armstrong Custer at the Battle of the Little Big Horn on June 25, 1876. Initially, his remains were buried where he fell, then in 1877, re-interred in the Little Bighorn National Cemetery and then in the same year, re-interred in his final resting place in the the Hamilton Cemetery.

One of the biggest, and most beautiful cemeteries I have ever visited. This place is enormous, with lots of paths and a very well maintained landscape. We try to make a stop here anytime we are in Hamilton during the day.

To Hamilton Cemetery is a great place to explore close to downtown Hamilton. there is free parking and a few kilometers of roads throughout the cemetery that you can walk or cycle on. I love biking here and people are running and bringing their dogs are all the time. it's never that busy, even in the summer, unless there's a funeral going on. Of course be respectful but this is public property where you can walk around or exercise in peace!

This place is amazing! There is so much history here and many graves of famous & infamous Hamiltonians. There are ramparts from the war of 1812, beautiful mausoleums, even Empire Loyalists are buried here. I love going for walks, grave hunting and grabbing a few handfuls of fruit from the many mulberry trees that grow here. Parking is free, it's very well maintained and it is huge. You'll be here for hours. Do yourself a favor and take a stroll though this beautiful place.

Went there to visit a friend that passed. Have left multiple teddy bears. They stuck around for a while untill recently. Went there and noticed all of them gone. Looked around and they were shredded everywhere all over the cemetery by I'm assuming a lawn mower.. even a metal bucket I dug a little whole in the ground and placed there for flowers got ran over and smooshed . Very dissapointed and very disrespectful. :(

A beautiful, quiet and well kept place. A cemetery rich in history with tombstones and structures dating back to the early 1800's

As cemetaries go, this one is very well maintained and has excellent views of Hamilton harbour and Cootes Paradise. A lot of Hamilton's history is recorded in the occupants headstones here, very interesting indeed. Beautiful, incredibly large sycamore trees complement all the other mature trees throughout the property.
