As a first time buyer the process of getting a mortgage and purchasing a property can be very overwhelming and stressful. However, Elena and her team from SPF were incredibly supportive, helpful, responsive and trustworthy, which made my whole experience much better. The team walked me through every step of the process and would always reply to my (many) queries quickly and with a very friendly, understanding attitude. Scott McHugh and Erin Hudson have been a dream team of mortgage advice! We have worked with them on more than one transaction, our own and that of family, and have also recommended them to friends who now also sing their praises. Scott is both knowledgeable and professional - he knows the market really well and is a keen problem solver. He will find you that mortgage rate or condition that you need! And he will do so with patient and prompt communication, that gives you peace of mind. Erin is also a fantastic communicator and always friendly and positive. She is very efficient too, and will have her eye very closely on the process so she can follow up with lenders if the pace ever drops. Scott and Erin both intervened to move things along for us several times in a long and arduous purchase. We would like to thank them warmly for helping us buy the place we wanted, and recommend them unreservedly to future clients. SPF is also an integrated team of advisors so if you work with Scott he will be able to then put you in touch with insurance advisors when you need them, who are equally professional and helpful. Jack and Erin were absolutely brilliant and I couldn't recommend them more highly. I am self-employed and a first time buyer and so obtaining a mortgage wasn't the most straightforward task. Jack sorted everything out for us. From first meeting with Jack to completion on our lovely house was 8 weeks. Jack kept us updated on progress and was always available on the phone and email. The purchase of our first home and navigating the mortgage market was made hugely manageable and stress free by our dealings with Jack Flynn; we found the service to be professional, efficient and settled on a mortgage offer much higher what another advisor (unconnected with SPF) had indicated was the highest they could procure for us. We also used their services for our home and personal insurance through Ryan Clay who has made the insurance world seem positively pleasant. Coincidentally, we are currently making our first claim and it has been very easy going as a result of having Ryan as a point of contact.
I have since personally recommended the firm to work colleagues who have been equally happy with SPF, demonstrating their consistency to me.

My experience with SPF finance was outstanding. Jack Flynn was given the unenviable task of arranging two buy to let mortgages and a residential mortgage, there was a great deal of research and problem solving in order to pull things off, he kept positive and used contacts at the institutions to help speed things up. Great service from a professional broker
I used SPF to find my first time mortgage. Working with Broker Jack Flynn, he explained all of my options and helped me to make an informed decision on which mortgage worked best for me. The agreement in principle was completed in a matter of days and everything was completed to a professional standard. I have since recommended using Jack to a number of friends and family - he has not disappointed. See you when its time to remortgage.

I wish I could give negative stars. I am so offended by the response of Scott McHugh that I strongly recommend anyone to avoid using SPF.
After politely and considerately informing Scott McHugh that I had recieved a better mortgage offer from another lender, he sent me the most horrific and offensive email in response. After meeting just once, his response to declining his offer was "this is not the etiquette expected within the UK and certainly not the behaviour of the calibre of clients here at SPF, so I am glad that this has now come to light."
I am so offended at the ethnocentric and rude response by Scott that I strongly advise anyone to avoid working with SPF. Even if they had the lowest mortgage rates possible, the way they treat customers is unacceptable, and NOT the etiquette expected within the UK.

My most sincere thanks go out to Jack Flynn and the SPF team who supported us on our recent house purchase. It was an extremely complex structuring that was only made possible through their market knowledge and connectivity, combined with sheer determination to get the best possible deal for us. it was a long process but they always proved responsive and available to provide guidance on not just our mortgages but insurance and protection options as well. During the final exchange and completions phase, Jack went far beyond what would normally be considered a broker's responsibility - liaising with solicitors, developers and estate agents to ensure we closed the deal within tight timeframes. I have arranged numerous buy-to-let mortgages and refinances over the last five years with SPF.
Kris LeCocq (Associate Director) has been instrumental in ensuring that each process has process has ended in a successful conclusion. Inevitably with such arrangements, difficulties arise but Kris has been able to skillfully negotiate the hurdles to ensure finance was in place when I needed it. With all the other headaches involved in property purchases I can rest assured that Kris will be pulling out all the stops to ensure the mortgage finance isn't one of them.

We recently used a broker called Jack at SPF for our purchase and he was brilliant. The purchase was much more complicated than we anticipated (it always seems to be!) and involved Jack finding a solution for us to purchase the entire freehold to the building for our flat, in addition to the leasehold. All of the high street banks and even our solicitor did not think it was possible due to mortgage covenants, however, SPF came up with a solution that no one else had thought of. Throughout the process we felt like Jack was the one person on our side trying to get the deal done, using his experience with estate agents and solicitors to keep the process running smoothly. We will always use SPF.

SPF in no small way shepherded my husband and me through the process of successfully obtaining financing for our first home in the UK. In particular, the services of Jack Flynn of that firm were outstanding. He demonstrated a genuine devotion to our matter over many, many months -- a circumstance no doubt made more difficult for him due to the multiple sales we had agreed which, for reasons related to the sellers involved, ultimately fell through. I would emphasise that Jack went well beyond what would have been traditionally required of him from a financing perspective, including liaising with our lawyer and sellers' estate agents on numerous occasions, and frequently offering sage advice to us as first time UK home buyers. His regular availability was also very much appreciated by us, ensuring that when important questions arose we would get answers expediently. In what ended up being a protracted and difficult process, my husband and I benefited enormously from being able to count on Jack as a part of our team.
