Having used this company for many years and no matter how big or small your order was they was always obliging, well it seems those days have long gone. I called last week for a price on some hardwood, price was given and a quote number, I call them today to place the order after working out a price for my customer over the weekend who the Hardwood is for, I also needed to add on some extra pieces of different sized Hardwood for the same customer only to be told by John (who is the most unhelpful person you could wish to get on the other end of the phone) that they can't help me with the additional pieces unless I purchase them in 3.6m lengths and also the piece which I was quoted for is no longer available so I would need to purchase that in 3.6m when I have always quoted my customer for a 1.5m piece of Hardwood PAR. To say I am disappointed in this company is an understatement and in future I will have no choice but to take my business elsewhere.

Always a slick operation and friendly, helpful staff. 10 out 10 to 'Craig' who helped me in the car park cover the wood sticking out of my car window from the rain. Very pleasant young man. Also noticed I was blocked in by a van and sorted my exit. Massive choice of stock, awesome.

Picked up some sleepers and plywood. Found the sleeper prices much the same as everywhere else but the plywood was cheaper. All staff friendly and helpful. Parking not a problem. I would definitely recommend Davies timber.

I’m a novice with timber. I’m building some decking and decided to try Davies Timber due to its good reviews on Google. Staff have been terrific, I’ve sent them several quotes and changed things around but they’ve always been helpful. Timber arrived and it’s really good quality. On checking prices they were cheaper than the normal big-brand DIY stores. A few of the boards were damaged so I raised this with the staff and they swapped the damaged goods without any issue. 5 stars, would use them again ????????

Bought a big load of timber, John Wakelin very helpful and responsive to my stupid questions. Craig and Harry offloaded exactly where I needed, very attentive and the wood all good. The plywood had a lot of filler from the manufacturer, a problem if you to use it as a surface finish varnished, mine is getting painted so no problem.

This is a professional and well organised place used by a lot of local trades people but just as useful for DIYers and anyone with a project. I've used this place for timber which is better than the large DIY suppliers and most of the builder's merchants. I have taken several projects to them and they will advise on wood choice and use their design software to give you the most efficient cutting plan. I have also used their cutting and planing services which have always been accurate. Small jobs can be done while you wait. Don't struggle trying to cut large boards or thick timber - just pay the 50p and get them to cut it in seconds.
They also have a wide selection of hardwoods from green oak to exotics. I have also bought an oak floor from them which was very good quality and very good value for money at the sale price. The small shop has everything you need for fixing and finishing. There is also a workshop on site for making staircases etc but I haven't used that part of the company.

Large yard plainly geared up for trade. I visited here on recommendation of a tradesman despite being miles from home. Disappointed and a completely wasted journey. Quite simply they could not supply what i needed. They could however supply 5 times more than I needed. Went elsewhere and won't be back.... unless i become a builder.

I was looking to source some skirting boards that were the same as the one in my old Victorian house.I found that at Davies timber they offered a machining service that they could produce new skirting boards to match my old ones. This only took a couple of days and the price was reasonable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Well done Davies timber i will be a returning customer.
