Extremely poor service and poor quality of work. Initially told 4 to 6 weeks but took almost 20!!! Repeated calls were replied to with “oh I’ll maybe try next week” the blasé attitude was one of I’ll do it when I feel like it. No concept of customer service. They Worked through Covid so not an excuse for the time scales. Machine finish very untidy and the cost £££££ was astronomical for the work carried out. More like a poorly run Hobby shop than the Professional Engineering service I expected.

Dropped my barrels and crank on 2nd of jan, requested crank rebuilt and barrels be replated (nikasil). Also dropped off powervalves to ensure correct action. Told work would take 3 weeks, finally got them back on 19th march after numerous phone calls chasing them and being fobbed off with numerous excuses. Barrels have had a liners fitted and powervalves do not operate fully, crank appears tight in cases so need to take it back out and test runout. They used to provide a fantastic service but are now useless. Will never use again.

I've used SEP for 20 years. They've rebuilt many press-fit BMW crnkshafts for me. Recently their standard of work and attitude has plumetted and I won't use them again. My last crankshaft took nearly four months and was unusable when it came back. It was so far out of alignment it wouldn't rotate when fitted. 77 thou out of alignment! No apology from SEP but they did agree it was wrong and would redo it. This took a further 3 weeks. They were supposed to post it out to me but for two weeks nothing arrived. Instead I made a 120 mile journey to collect it. It is still 40 thou out of alignment and I'm going to have to send it somewhere else to have it properly repaired.

Very happy overall great work and came in slightly under the estimate although estimate was an unseen estimate only down side is getting told it'll be ready tomorrow it'll be ready early next week...told its ready jist have to do the other job I call and cancel the other job and wanted the part but had to wait because the job wasn't complete you do have to phone often so if you're in a rush add a couple of weeks to their given time all said and done I'm very happy and will come back again

I've used SEP a number of times to carry out a variety of different work on both classic & vintage Triumph heads, barrels & crankshafts. Their work has always been A++ but they can be a bit slow during peak times throughout the year. Personally I think they are the best company in the area for this type of work if traditional quality of workmanship is your priority.

I use this company regularly, mainly for head skims, but they did a good job of my Rover V8 top hat liners and managed to repair a otherwise scrap VW 20v head by welding the damaged coolant galleries. They are busy and may not be as quick as other engineers due to not being able to get the/good staff, but on the flip-side the owners are the ones doing the work now so its a good job!

I took a 1300cc short block in to be re-ringed and re shelled. After waiting 11 weeks all they did was strip and clean it and every week i rang up for updates it was always "next week chap". I don't know whats gone on there as they used to be good? I don't mind waiting for good work but 11 weeks is taking the piss. I wont be using them again

SEP are terrible for under quoting on both price and time, whatever they say I would suggest doubling it to get an idea of what you will actually pay and how long it will take. Unless you keep ringing them for progress reports nothing will get done. They will only do exactly what was requested and don't advise on any issues found, after I got my block back from them I found cracks all over it, they hadn't said anything! Studs were also missing from my flywheel and head. Several other issues were also present and they bought and charged me for valve stem seals I'd told them I already had. I won't use them again and clearly won't recommend them.

Absolutely terrible - Damaged my new bearings and casings during fitting and worse, turned one around to hide it! Hammered them so hard it chipped the outer race and dented the cage. In the end I had to buy 6 new bearings and have the cases repaired due to damage. SEP refused to pay for this repair.
