be very careful with the sequence of little actions you do to attempt to travel to Thailand from UK. The website where we can book appointments in person lacks information on whether this service can be used in times of restrictions from government. Also, I have been calling 2 days ago to try to find information which when given were unclear. Although the staff are very nice and respectful, they have to update their information and warn of any delays.

ABSOLUTE JOKE........Spents hours calling them and they never answer the phone. When you visit at best they do the minimum they can to help whether you are Thai or English. You would think an Embassy is a professional body to help and assist. Not the Embassy of Thailand, London.

Truly aweful experience. Followed instructions on their website in order to obtain our sons Thai birth certificate and passport, filled in forms, did photos, booked appointment online. When we arrived the reception is on the basement level of the building down a very narrow and steep set of winding steps with no lift or provision for buggies or wheelchairs. We have our son in a bassinet buggy and our 2 year old in his buggy so we struggled with the help of strangers to get to the bottom of the steps which are very dangerous. As we entered a member of staff was directing people and told us to take a ticket and wait in line with everyone else even though we had a booking. We asked about the passport cost and was told it was £40 but they only accepted cash! I had to leave my wife on her own while I walked around for about 30 minutes looking for a cash point, on my return my wife had been seen and I was informed that they won’t do the passport because the baby needs to have their eyes open so they can take a retina scan! We told them he had his eyes open but they weren’t interested. Asked how we could travel to Thailand without his Thai passport they told me that we would need to book tickets, return to the embassy in London and get a temporary Passport. Absolutely ridiculous. So after following their website to the letter, spending over £100 to travel to embassy, hours in the car with the kids bored and upset, all we achieve was handing over a form which can’t be done online and can’t be done by the post. This couldn’t be any more convoluted if they tried. Also taking cash in the middle of a pandemic when every other area of life is taking card to prevent transmission is a joke. I literally hate having to do anything with the Thai embassy, unfortunately we have no choice if we want our Thai/British kids to have dual citizenship. Only use if you really have to. They really need to modernise, move into 21st century, and have better physical access.

FOR THAI VISAS: You no longer need to take physical passport photos or the form. They'll only take your documents (flights, bank statement, accommodation bookings, passport photocopy, actual passport). You also need to apply online the day before. There's a printer on-site and you have to go downstairs into a little room where you take a number and get called to a desk. There's a friendly woman helping out people in the room and once you're called it's less than 5 mins. Just make sure you paid, have all your docs, and aren't rude, and you'll have no problem!

Great Service always from the Thai Embassy. As someone who is married to a Thai Citizen and has Thailand as my second home I often need a visa for Thailand. Although this process has got slightly harder over the years the speed and efficiency of the Embassy has always been superb. I posted my passport and documents on Saturday (they would have received it Monday) and it was back with me on Wednesday. The service has always been this great over the last 8 years.

Online application is a joke... took 4 hours and many people helping me. I even had Thai speaking friends help and still was impossible. When I needed to call the embassy no one picked the phone up. All in all I was on hold for 2 hours throughout the day. Finally got hold of someone and straight away put me on hold again. Defiantly my last time in Thailand....

I was at the embassy over a year ago and they provided the service that I needed - renew my Thai ID - with a warm welcome, polite manner, and willingness to help and get things done without delay. I thought they did a very good job. Today, April 20, 2018 I went to the embassy to apply for new passports for myself and family members. Once again, the appointment was at 9 am and the four of us got through the whole process for new passport within 1 hours, faster than expected and with no issue. The three embassy staff whom we met today were quite efficient, helpful, and did their tasks quite well. I want to confirm that my two experiences at the embassy were excellent and the staff perform their jobs very well. Note that before I went to the embassy to get what I need, I made my appointments online via the embassy website. I read all instructions and prepared all documents as requested and shown on the website for what I need to do. If I have a question, I would call and write email to get what I need to do before going to the embassy. Please also note that the embassy is not a commercial business entity or a Call Center. This is a Thai government office! Be respectful!!

The RTE were exceptionally helpful in supporting our unique case.We found contacting via Facebook (as oppose to email & phone) that we got a very prompt reply. Staff were knowledgeable & helpful. The F2F appointment was quick & turnaround time good. Thank you for all your help which means our daughter is now a Thai citizen.

What an UNPLEASANT visit!!! I have been travelling from 2008 and been through lot of paper work - never seen anyone treats their customers like that.. Terrible, terrible, terrible!!! She likes to come back to you if you have been rude when you are simply asking a question. Please, you know which counter I am talking about - chill out!! it's not the end of the world. Please be welcoming and help people with love and politeness - it does cost any money. Thanks

Sent all the necessary documents via post (which I would recommend as opposed to physically going there), visa was returned in good time. Trying to get through via phone is near impossible though. Tried a few times and was left waiting for a long time, eventually gave up but called back on an off chance and got through to them, the staff are short and unable to explain in much detail but you’re able to understand the gist of it. Emails they don’t really respond to.

Very bad service. Staff was very rude, I had all my papers ( which are too many by the way) and she basically dismissed me, threw my papers and told me to come back tomorrow because I didn’t have a photocopy of my passport ???? what embassy doesn’t have a photocopier??!! She didn’t even look at me she just kicked me out! How is this supposed to encourage tourism to a country that lives off it? Next time I’ll just book my holiday somewhere people are treated with respect.

Terrible . I was extremely shocked when i eventually got through. I was so surprised at how rude and how much they did not care about their job and the people they were talking to. It was quite scary. It was like they didn't want to talk to you. I had to phone them many times and put on hold 4 times . It was so disconcerting that they were so rude and didn't want to talk to you and help you. I truly dislike making a complaint. I am really not the type of person to make a complaint but I really wanted to make a complaint but the state of their customer service I didn't think that it would make a blind bit of difference. ..absolutely shocking .

Thank you RTE for all of your help! When I had trouble filling in the online application, you kindly advised me by email and telephone. I apologise on behalf of the woman shouting at you on 11/07/19! She wanted to be a teacher however could not figure out how to fill in the online application, troubling indeed. For all future applicants of visas, please have your s**t together before you waste everyone's time at the embassy. Thanks again Visa Officers, take care :)
